For 50 years, Page & Turnbull has led architecture, preservation, and planning projects for civic, cultural, educational, and commercial clients. Our work has impacted some of California’s most significant buildings; and, more importantly, our projects have made a difference in people’s lives. Page & Turnbull’s staff of architects, architectural historians, cultural resource planners, and materials specialists believe that preservation and adaptive reuse are about valuing a community’s stories and envisioning a better future.

One Firm, Three Studios
ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN As prime architect, architect of record, and design architect, we collaborate with clients and specialty consultants to design buildings, places, and spaces that are simultaneously contemporary and contextual.

HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE Our historic architecture team is comprised of architects, designers, and materials specialists who are experts at investigating and analyzing materials, securing entitlements, and designing for the adaptive reuse of historic buildings and places for the way we live today...and into the future.
CULTURAL RESOURCE PLANNING Architectural historians and cultural resources planners evaluate and analyze historic resources to assess their historic integrity. The studio authors a wide range of award-winning reports, develops and implements mitigation measures, and completes National Register and California Register documentation.

An architect, planner, and former campus architect, Ruth Todd promotes a comprehensive vision of how existing campus buildings can be reimagined to promote a thriving learning environment for students. A national expert, on preservation, planning and campus design, Ruth has participated and led campus projects at every scale from long range development plans to rehabilitations. She balances short- and long-term interests while fitting contemporary needs into existing campuses and communities. Ruth enthusiastically leads project teams and applies a deep understanding of resource planning and architecture. Along the way, she balances her ability to represent a client’s longterm interests and satisfy stakeholder concerns while fitting contemporary design and planning into existing contexts. A fellow of the American Institute of Architects and elected to Lambda Alpha International, she is an emerita trustee of the California Preservation Foundation. Ruth has also served on the boards of the Architectural Foundation of San Francisco and the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. She is a recipient of the American Architectural Foundation’s prestigious Richard Morris Hunt Fellowship.Ruth wmeets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architecture and Historic Architecture. .

Heather is an experienced materials conservation specialist who incorporates architecture and history into her work. Her passion is understanding and implementing historic preservation practices, including materials conservation, to create thriving and economically sustainable communities. An ICCROM consultant, she developed “how to” guidelines for reinvigorating historic properties in communities that have experienced displacement due to conflict, environmental disasters, or other issues. She manages challenging projects to align with client’s budgets and schedules. She understands and works with a wide range of materials and is especially skilled analyzing and developing repair recommendations for wood, masonry, marble, and concrete structures.
