PA Cyber’s summer activities offer students of all age groups opportunites to learn something new and have fun while school’s out. Take on an adventure, learn a new skill, and get to know your peers. We offer a mix of virtual and in-person programs. These activies do not offer credit toward graduation. 4-13 14-17 18-19 20-21

Elementary

Archie’s Art Academy K-2

Nothing says summer like a good book and some sunshine. We will read two adventure books in this club to help us stay sharp over the summer months. Readers are leaders!

Caterpillars to Butterflies

Grade Level: Session 1 K-2; Session 2 3-5 Session: Both Sessions

Watch nature come alive with butterfly metamorphosis: the amazing process of how caterpillars become butterflies. Club members will receive a kit complete with caterpillars and lodgings. In each session, we will discuss changes and progress. After our caterpillars emerge as butterflies, we release them into the world!

Chess Club

Grade Level: 3-8

The game of chess develops camaraderie, competition, patience,

power, and perseverance. This club is open to novices as well as more experienced players. Lessons will be kept short, with the emphasis on actual play. Players are encouraged to keep their cameras on to encourage a strong community and open communication, and to learn to enjoy the game of chess!

Just Kitten Around - Cat Club

Grade Level: K-5

Calling all cat lovers! Would you like to learn how to train your cat, discover why cats purr along with other fun facts, and explore cat breeds? If so, this is the club for you! You will get to create your own Cat Journal and work with friends on cat projects.

Let’s Grow! Garden Club

We all know that fruits and veggies are healthy for you, so why not grow our own? In this club, we will learn how to start your own garden. You will grow your own crops and watch them grow. And the best part is, you’ll be able to eat what you make!

Make & Mail Friendship Bracelets

Do you love getting mail? In this club, we are going to learn many different techniques for making friendship bracelets, which can also be used as bookmarks. Each week, we will work on a new design and then mail them to one another. We will begin with a simple style and progress to more complicated patterns as the weeks go by. Club members will enjoy receiving and sending new bracelets to new friends made within this club.

Mess Makers

Who doesn’t love to make a little mess? In this summer workshop, we will make some messy masterpieces using bubbles, shaving cream, paint, and more! So this summer, let’s get outside and make a mess!

Trees of PA

Grade Level: K-5

PA Trees are a Cool Breeze Club: Our first five sessions will be about learning and discussing the popular trees native to Pennsylvania. During our exploration of trees, club members will work on identifying trees by their leaves. Each student will be encouraged to share the trees in their yards and/or local surroundings. Our club activities will include outdoor exploration and leaf collection. In fact, the last week will be for leaf presentations and what club members learned about their favorite tree(s).

Under the Sea

Grade Level: K-5

Are you ready for an Under the Sea adventure? We will explore the fascinating creatures that exist under the sea, learn the habitats of animals that call the sea their home, and learn how you can help preserve this fragile ecosystem. Arts, crafts, and creating a journal make this club an engaging experience for our youngest learners.

Bat Habitat

Grade Level: 6-12

Most people wince at the sight of a bat or when simply hearing about them. Bats are one of the most misunderstood animals. Students will learn all about bat facts and the common myths that simply aren’t true. Students will also get to build their own bat box from a DIY bat box/house kit, which will be provided.

Chess Club

Christian Creations is a summer extension of Connect Jr. Bible Club that focuses on arts and crafts. Let’s celebrate and share God’s joy and love while making beautiful creations of our own!

Cross Stitching with Archie

Do you want a new hobby that is calm and creative? Are you up for working on your artistry this summer? If that sounds like you, join Cross Stitching with Archie! You will learn the basics of cross stitch, work on some projects, and have fun as we practice and create together.

Designing with Duct Tape

Grade Level: 6-12

Students will use basic materials and duct tape to make a variety of projects such as pencil cases, wallets, and more. We will use tape to add some fun to your everyday, average school supplies.

Esports Video Gaming Club

Grade Level: 7-12

Session: Six-Week Session

Meeting Time: W 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Student-led, this will be a fun few weeks of discussions, strategy sharing, and gaming. Discussions will include the competitive environment of esports, career opportunities, health, nutrition, and more. Esports will continue to participate in summer tournaments and provide an inhouse tournament for those able to participate.

Fishing Is Fantastic

Grade Level: 6-12

Students will learn all about the fishing experience. Sessions include an introduction to fishing, where to fish, stocking schedules, water safety, laws, processing, cooking, and more. Fishing kit provided!

Global Education Club Board Game Fun

Grade Level: 7-12

Global Education Club inspires students to learn about life in different countries. Students learn about foreign cultures, the joy of travel, and history of lands far away. Students will be sent materials to create their own game involving culture, travel, and/or history to play with family and friends. Students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to explore the world and have fun!

Green Thumb Club

Houseplants are MAGIC. They can clean our air and help create a healthy environment. In this engaging club, students will discover how to identify, care for, and learn to plant houseplants. Each member will receive their own Bonsai tree kit to nurture and care for.

GSA Summer Safe Space

Grade Level: 6-8

Session: Session 1 June 12-June 30

Meeting Time: T/Th 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

The GSA Summer Safe Space is an opportunity to bring LGBTQ+ students and allies together to socialize, learn, advocate, collaborate, and problem solve around the issues that affect their community. During the session, we will learn how to volunteer at local shelters, DIY some animal toys, and read Meow or Never by Jazz Taylor. Students and parents considering this club are encouraged to contact the school for additional information regarding this text and its subject matter.

Hoops & Loops - Embroidery for Beginners

Grade Level: 6-12

Session: Six-Week Session

Meeting Time: W 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

In this club, participants will be introduced to a variety of embroidery stitches. No prior experience required! We will practice the basics and create a small ‘sun sampler’ and an Archie bag. After these two projects, we will move onto a work of your own. We will learn lettering designs and techniques, how to embroider directly onto fabric/ shirts/jeans, and design good patterns for your own project.

Hot Off the Press

Grade Level: 7-12

Session: Six-Week Session

Be first to break the latest news at PA Cyber! We are looking for writers of all levels. Students will learn the ins and outs of writing newspaper articles for the PA Cyber Press. Students will learn how to interview sources and write up articles that captivate and inform readers. Finally, we’ll learn how to create a design that highlights the article topic and draws readers in.

Let’s Be Fly & Tie Dye

Grade Level: 6-8

Tie dye is no longer a vintage style. The colorful print is making a major comeback. Express yourself with a unique design that only you can make. Students will create three one-of-a-kind projects that you will be proud to wear. *Session 2 will include three different projects.

Macramé is a versatile form of using fiber to tie different knots to create beautiful patterns. Students will learn the basic primary knots used to create macramé and learn some basic patterns to create their own macramé. Macramé starter kit provided.

Are you looking for a creative outlet that allows you to get your hands dirty? Then look no further. Join us as we create mosaic designs on everyday objects using colored glass pieces and grout.

Outdoors Club

Grade Level: 6-8

Session: Six-Week Session

Do you love the great outdoors? The Outdoors Club will encourage students to participate in outdoor activities and appreciate Pennsylvania’s woods and streams. Students will be empowered to share their stories and knowledge with other club members. Students will learn to approach outdoor recreation activities with the proper knowledge and safety in mind. Participation will prepare students for a lifetime of fun and recreation in the outdoors. Students of all outdoor experience levels are welcome.

Paint Pouring Club

Grade Level: 6-12

Session: Session 2 July 10-July 28

The ART of the Pour! Paint pouring can be relaxing and does not require a background in art. Students will learn how to mix acrylic paint for different types of pours and how to use different tools to create a variety of pieces.

Paper Quilling - 3D Art

Grade Level: 6-12

Session: Both Sessions

Meeting Time: M/W 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Students will learn the art of paper quilling or paper rolling to create 3D paper art pieces. Using strips of paper, we will roll the paper into different shapes that we can put together to create canvas and shadow box creations.

Recycled Tees Please

Grade Level: 6-12

Session: Session 2 July 10-July 28

Meeting Time: T/Th 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Pull out those old T-shirts and give them some new life. In this workshop, we will use your old T-shirts to do some pretty awesome projects. We will learn a simple marker tie-dye technique, make a piece of art to hang, make a small take-along bag, and many more. Come join in on the adventure while we recycle your old tees.

Taste Test - DECA Middle School

Grade Level: 6-8

Session: Session 2 July 10-July 28

TikTok food critics go viral, so why can’t DECA join in the fun? In this Taste Test, you will be the one deciding which product is best! There are so many options to choose from: Coke vs. Pepsi, Lays vs. Ruffles, Hershey vs. Mars. We will be comparing brands, packaging, commercials, etc. to see if all the hype really stands up to flavor. If you like snacking and want to learn about marketing, then this club is for you!

Unsolved History Club

Grade Level: 6-8

Session: Six-Week Session

Unsolved History Club will engage and motivate students to think critically and form opinions on unexplained or unsolved questions throughout history. Students will learn to research various topics and differentiate fact from fiction. From this they will gain a better understanding of historical events and be able to formulate their own theories on some of history’s greatest mysteries.

Anime Fan Club

Anime lover? In this club, students can vibe with other anime fans. We’ll talk about One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, and any others.

In this club, students will learn the art of recording, producing, and broadcasting for the highly acclaimed podcast series, “Shifting Perspectives.” Every member of the club will be assigned various responsibilities such as hosting, editing, and conducting guest interviews throughout the production process.

Photographic Basics with Cyanotype Printing

Grade Level: 9-12

Session: Both Sessions

Meeting Time: T/TH 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Students will learn the very basic concepts of photography with developing images using light. We will start out learning about the chemicals used to make cyanotypes with simple objects exposed to sunlight. Then, students will progress with negative images printed on transparent paper using photos they have taken themselves. The mini-club will wrap up with students’ final projects of their choice using the materials they have and the new skills they have learned. It’s like having a darkroom in your own home!

Get Wild with Habitats and Ecosystems

It’s time to get wild this summer! Join us for a “wild” visit to the Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus. Participants will enjoy a hike and explore the ecology of pond, meadow, and forest habitats. Presentations will enhance the experience and emphasize interactions between a community of living organisms and their nonliving environment.

Get Wet and Wild with Watershed Ecology and Tubing

Let’s get wet and wild at the Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus! Participants will enjoy tubing on the Little Lehigh Creek on a summer afternoon. We will learn about the populations and ecosystems of the Lehigh River watershed and the physical and chemical properties of the creek. Students will conduct a biotic index to determine the types and abundances of organisms present in the creek and the quality of its environment.
