PA Cyber’s summer activities offer students of all age groups opportunites to learn something new and have fun while school’s out. Go on an adventure, learn a new skill, and get to know your peers. We offer a mix of virtual and in-person programs. These activies do not offer credit toward graduation.

Caterpillars to Butterflies K-2

K-2 | Tuesday, Thursday | 2:00 pm

Watch nature come alive with butterfly metamorphosis: the amazing process of how caterpillars become butterflies. Club members will receive a kit complete with caterpillars and lodgings. In each session, we will discuss changes and progress. After our caterpillars emerge as butterflies, we release them into the world!

Do you love building and want to learn how to create your own Lego creations? Join us for a few days of fun when you’ll learn how to design and build your own Lego models. You’ll use your creativity and an engineering mindset. Enjoy this hands-on experience with a variety of Lego sets and learn techniques for building sturdy and intricate designs. This class is the perfect way to develop your problem-solving skills and unleash your creativity. All students in grades 2 to 5 are welcome just bring your love of Legos and a willingness to experiment! Legos will be provided.

Adventures at Asbury Woods

Grades: K-6

Dates: August 5-6, 2024

Enjoy fun, adventure, and learning in the great outdoors at the beautiful 234-acre Asbury Woods! Students in K-6 will enjoy hikes and scavenger hunts for living and non-living things. They will conduct wetland explorations, including water quality tests, and learn about and identify fish, amphibians, and reptiles that live in Asbury Woods. This experience includes interacting with live animals, completing animal crafts, and exploring the habitats where these animals live outdoors.

Enjoy fun, adventure, and learning in the great outdoors at the beautiful 234-acre Asbury Woods! Students in grades 7-12 will learn outdoor skills, including how to build shelters, read a compass, and make a campfire. Students will develop teambuilding skills while working together to complete a compass course and use handheld GPS units to locate geocaches. Participants will also hike the Walnut Creek area, play in the water, and enjoy smores!

Calling all aspiring Pokémon Trainers and Wildlife Biologists! Get ready for an adventure where Nature, Science, and Imagination Collide! We are going to immerse ourselves in nature and role play as wildlife biologists to learn more about organisms, their classification, habitats, and special characteristics and adaptations. Then, we’ll take what we observed in the field and use our imagination to create our very own Pokémon and Pokémon cards. Students will then bring their creations to life using a laser cutter!

Engineering Exploration Experience: The Healing Nature of Engineering

We all want to make life better, but sometimes our best intentions fall short and we can harm the natural environment and hurt ourselves as well. Join us as we learn about the superpower of engineering: healing! In this pilot program, students will take part in the design and build of a chimney swift tower, to be placed in the community garden of the YMCA.

Join us for a day of Fishing at Bald Eagle State Park led by DCNR educators. This program is designed for K-12 students and their families. During this memorable day by the water, learning will meet leisure in the heart of nature. Fashion Fabrication Camp

Grades: 6-12

We will be making wearable items through the use of machines. Participants will gain knowledge of machines like 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, Vinyl Cutters, and more! By using these machines, we will be able to make items for wear and become fabrication fashion designers.

Kids Outdoor Survival Camp

Grades: 3-6

Get outdoors and have some fun with us this summer to learn the science behind outdoor survival techniques. Students will make a compass to navigate, purify drinking water, build a fire, fish in the lake, construct their own shelter, and much more!

Horseback Riding 101 Camp

Giddy on up to Rising Light Ridge for four days of of learning about horses, riding horses, caring for and grooming horses, and feeding horses. Students will also enjoy lots of arts, crafts, and games! No experience necessary as riding lessons will be provided.

Rock Climbing Camp

One-Day Trip to Washington, DC

Join us for a trip to Washington D.C. Students will have the opportunity to visit the African American Museum or the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, then at 2pm there will be a 3-hour walking tour of the monuments and memorials. Charter buses will pick families up at one of four regional offices (Allentown, Harrisburg, Greensburg, PGH Warrendale). At the end of the day, charter buses will return families to the regional offices. This field trip is for PA Cyber students and immediate family only.
