TheAccountingProgramatSoutheasternmaintainedsupplementalaccountingaccreditationthroughtheAACSB TheAACSBisthe premieraccreditingbodyamongcollegesofbusiness.Onlyabout20percentofaccreditedcollegesofbusinessmaintain supplementalaccountingaccreditation AACSBaccreditationisatoncearecognitionofpastachievementandacalltoaction Aswe patourselvesonthebackforthisaccomplishment,wearepushingourselvesforwardintothenextaccreditationcycle,whichhas alreadybegun.

Inordertomaintainsupplementalaccountingaccreditation,weneedtodemonstratehowweengagewiththeprofession,innovate throughcurriculumdesignandinstruction,andimpactthecommunitiesweserve.Someofthe2022-2023highlightsineachof theseareasincludethefollowing:

Engagement

Meet the Firms was a tremendous success with 20 registered employers Speed Interviewing returned to the Columbia Theater through our collaboration with the Northshore Chapter of the LCPA

48 students completed internships for credit while most of those who had previously completed internships continued with their employers.

Our advisory board provided guidance in strategic planning and curriculum design

Faculty contributed to LCPA committees and community outreach through workshop presentations and volunteer work

Innovation

Students participate in advisory board meetings providing important perspectives on strategic planning and curriculum design

We launched a program in which firms can partner with us to provide scholarships, instructional support, and engagement opportunities for students and faculty

We added courses in Data Analytics, Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA), Sustainability Reporting, Ethics, and CPA Exam Review while continuing to update and refine content and pedagogy in existing courses.

We created a Concentration in Accounting and Financial Analysis in our MBA program

Impact

Students in our program were once again awarded more scholarships and more dollars by the LCPA than those in any other program in the state For the fifth year in a row, a Southeastern student was awarded a $10,000 PCAOB scholarship

Interns provide mentorship to students through panel presentations providing guidance on landing an internship and performing on the job Accounting faculty significantly increased the number and quality of publications during the five-year accreditation window, doubling the number of publications and having eight times as many ranked publications as the previous five years
