In the Spring, Marketing 442 (Advanced Advertising) worked with Hammond native, Kristin Anderson, managing partner of PathWerk, a marketing research firm in Atlanta specializing in the home improvement industry One of her clients is Winia, the largest appliance producer in Korea While they have been an OEM for other appliance brands in the US for the past 25 years, they are in their infancy in marketing the Winia brand in the US. They entered the market during the Covid shutdown when the American retailers experienced an appliance shortage. Because Winia had a manufacturing plant in Mexico, they were able to ship appliances via trucks to the US and into Lowe's stores while other appliances sat on barges off our coasts.

Southeastern students, lead by Dr Teri Root, developed a strategic advertising campaign for Winia's Retro line, a line of colorful and retro looking mini microwaves and refrigerators. Four marketing student teams collaborated with teams from the communications department's video production class to produce a campaign for the Winia Retro line. Students in Mrkt 442 act as advertising agencies while students in Comm 424 act as a video production companies. The project involved students pitching their ideas to Kristin and Winia representatives Upon approval of their ideas, students then began preparing creating other ads, and developing a media plan and
