2023 Community Bank Case Study Competition

Robichaux - During the 2023 Community Bank Case Study Competition, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors granted college students an opportunity to enhance their financial intuition and gain familiarity in managerial and technological disciplines During the study, Dr. Danielle Lewis and Dr. Matthew Crook advised Team Southeastern, which consists of four Finance students: Dylan Lacoste, Justin Mata, Brooke Leboeuf, and Kaelie Robichaux (photo above). The team chose First Guaranty Bank (FGB) as their partner for this year’s competition. In addition to the required financial analysis, the 2023 topic focused on staffing and technological developments in a competitive, post-pandemic job market. The team distributed a survey to CoB students to measure the incoming talent’s job preferences. Also, through a series of interviews with FGB executives, bank regulators, attorneys, and others, Team Southeastern crafted an informative video and a prepared twenty-five-page analysis which was submitted to the competition

CFA Institute Research Challenge

Students Evan Gibson, Jonathan Taylor, & Philencia Hillard placed in the top 10 in the Southeast Region in the CFA Institute Research Challenge earning them a spot to compete in the US 2023 Southwest Regional Competition at Texas State University Student teams assume the role of a research analyst guided by finance faculty, Dr. John Cresson. Student performance is evaluated against schools across the globe by industry professionals based on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills.
