SALES INSIDER Newsletter of Southeastern’s Professional Sales Program INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES FOR SALES STUDENTS CRUCIAL TO THIS YEAR’S PROGRAM SUCCESS Over the past year, a consistent theme has proven to be important: the implementation of more technology resources into the sales program. Even before the pandemic, Southeastern’s Sales Program was making advances in this area to ensure students are exposed to the latest technology to use during the sales process. A few examples of recent upgrades that support this area include:
IN THIS ISSUE:
1
Sales Management Course (Fall) • Implemented CRM Software Certification and Training into the course. New Sales Lab • Interact Software Solutions was chosen to provide role-play recording capabilities for practice, competitions, and classroom instruction and feedback. • Hardware additions: Cloud-integrated audio-visual technology, two interactive touch-screen monitors, mobile flip screen laptops, video conferencing systems. • This technology was made possible through a Louisiana Board of Regents grant and a Southeastern Student Tech Fee grant. • Note: We will do a feature on the Ribbon Cutting of the Sales Lab in the next Sales Insider. To check out a sneak peak of the new lab, go to southeastern.edu/sales for a virtual tour. Zoom Integration • The National Collegiate Sales Competition transitioned to a virtual competition in the spring, where competitors had to use Zoom technology to sell to buyers (with only two weeks of preparation after preparing for in-person). • The Fall 2020 International Collegiate Sales Competition will also be a virtual competition in a similar format. Virtual Career Fair and Interviews • As part of the National Collegiate Sales Competition, students had the option to participate in a virtual career fair. Sponsored companies had chat rooms available to explore career opportunities and speak with company representatives. • Many students participated in virtual interviews for internships and jobs this semester. Google Classroom • Classes shifted to Google classroom this spring, where students were able to interact with guest speakers.
