t’s been ten years since the Weston Branch Library opened its doors. To celebrate a decade of service to the community, Weston Mayor Daniel Stermer and Commissioners Toby Feuer and Jim Norton presented an official proclamation to Library staff and volunteers. The Weston branch of the Broward County Library opened in February 2016. It replaced the Weston Reading Center, which had been housed in an office space in the Windmill Professional Campus. The new library was a welcome addition to the Weston community. With its location adjacent to the educational complex housing Cypress Bay High School and Falcon Cove Middle School, students from the nearby schools have convenient access to the sophisticated county library. The entire community benefits from its extensive collection and services. Last year, it served over 388,000 patrons.

The Weston Branch Library features a collection of more than 100,000 books, periodicals, DVD’s, CD’s and electronic materials. Other amenities include a youth services area with a program room, public-use computers, tutor and study rooms, a conference room, a 150seat meeting room, exhibit area, and Friends of the Library book store. The second floor of the 51,000 square foot building houses the Broward College Weston Center, which offers college and professional development classes as well as language instruction. Over the years, the library has become somewhat of a community center. This month it is hosting the Student Artist Showcase, featuring artwork by Weston’s most talented students. Last month, it hosted the Cypress Bay Photography Showcase. The library also offers a variety of education and enrichment classes. Adults can take English, Spanish and Portuguese classes, as well as learn to knit and crochet or join a book club. Children can take part in story time programs and enjoy family movie matinees. The community can also take advantage of
