a campus preview for high school students
T he moment you step foot on the University of Oklahoma campus, you’ll discover how the OU Family puts pride to work. We strive for excellence beyond the classroom, beyond our research labs, and beyond the playing field. Together, we can cheer louder and dream bigger. We can take a bold leap into a future filled with endless possibilities, and you can be part of our ever-expanding legacy.
As a student at the University of Oklahoma, you will find the transformative support you need to accomplish your dreams. What legacy awaits you?
We consider four factors in the freshman application:
Academic rigor, including GPA, ACT/SAT score (encouraged), course rigor, and class rank
Leadership experience, community involvement, etc .
Writing and self-expression measured through an essay
Letters of recommendation (optional)
The University of Oklahoma practices a test-optional admissions policy, meaning students do not need a test score to be considered for admission and scholarships. We encourage applicants to submit a test score to ensure accurate course placement and maximize scholarship opportunities. If students choose to apply with test scores, the scores will be used as part of the admission decision process. To learn more visit go2.ou.edu/test-optional .
OU accepts superscores and self-reported test scores for admission and scholarship consideration. Self-reported scores will be verified prior to enrollment. Read our FAQ at go2.ou.edu/test-scores for more information.
Through internships, research, and hands-on learning, OU students earn more than just a degree. They graduate with prototypes, published articles, robust resumes, industry connections, and more. Learn more about the value of an OU degree at go2.ou.edu/value.

“Enrolling in concurrent courses has given me an opportunity to prepare myself for college. I’ve had access to OU's Writing Center and tutoring services, and being able to engage with the staff and faculty has given me an opportunity to have a lot of questions answered about college. It’s further motivated me to go here because I know what resources are available to me, what courses are available to me, and what people are here to help me.”
