The patient progresses favorably. Once the distraction is stable and with an adequate orthodontic preparation the patient will definitely be operated later on because of her malocclusion with a bimaxillary osteotomy.
Este procedimiento también provoca una ampliación sustancial de la base apical maxilar y de la bóveda palatina, por lo que proporciona más espacio para la lengua y ayuda a que el paciente pueda tragar con mayor facilidad. Además se consigue una mejora en la vía aérea nasal. La paciente evoluciona muy favorablemente. Una vez sea estable la distracción y con adecuada preparación ortodóncica la paciente será intervenida definitivamente de la maloclusión mediante osteotomía bimaxilar.

In later revisions, both the surgical team and the orthodontist have seen that distraction has worked perfectly. It is not necessary to further widen the patient’s jawbone. En revisiones posteriores, tanto el equipo quirúrgico como el ortodoncista han visto que la distracción ha funcionado correctamente. No es necesario ensanchar más el maxilar de la paciente, se ha llegado al máximo de distracción y es por eso que el cirujano ha bloqueado la tuerca para que el distractor no se mueva y se dejará así en fase de consolidación al menos dos meses más.
