WELCOME TO OUR SALE Welcome to our annual Tag Sale! Our spring sale comes at a time of year that gives you the most flexibility to add animals from our program and fit them seamlessly into your operation, weather purebred or commercial, winter calving or spring calving, they are ready to work for you. We again welcome Vintage Herefords, The Larmer Family with their consignment of heifers that have wintered at our farm. The sale again features progeny from our Sr. herd sire McCoy Z426 Monarch 20F who is owned with Vintage Herefords, McCoy Cattle, SK and Oulton Farms, NS. We have now calved the first daughters of Monarch and are excited to watch how they will positively contribute to our herd. In addition, Monarch sons have continued to see excellent acceptance in the Beck McCoy Bull Sale in February, so take note of the Monarch sons we have included in this sale.

In the past year, I have been impressed with how our herd has made use of less then perfect pasture conditions, grazed cover crops and made use of some sub par forages and still have maintained body condition, production and a 60-day calving season. In a time where costs of production including the cost of feeding a cow herd has continued to increase, the value of Hereford genetics really shines.

Take time to understand how profitability can be increased by using Hereford genetics in your operation.

Our Program is based on cattle that are practical, have eye appeal and with the use of many tools available we do our best to back this up with full performance evaluation. The Hereford breed and our herd has worked and will continue to work to improve upon carcass traits, teat and udder size and lower birthweights while maintaining growth all while staying true to what Herefords are traditionally known for - hardiness, docility, maternal instinct and fleshing ability that leads to real profitability!

New this year we have included a select few baldy females who have originated from one of our longest standing customers, the Fletcher family. Neal has continued to use our Hereford genetics as the base of their cowherd crossing with Angus bulls. The cross simply works and showcases how adaptive Hereford genetics are in a crossbreeding program.

The animals offered in this sale are not managed any different then the rest of the herd, they have been raised as though we are keeping every animal for ourselves. The heifers have been developed and are in ideal condition they are cycling and ready to breed. The cows are just getting grass hay, cover crop oats and mineral. We don’t trim feet, rather these animals are culled along with open females not calving within our targeted 60-day calving period.

All animals offered in the sale have a “Tag Price” listed in the catalog.

Intent to purchase must be stated by 3pm EST Sunday April 10 2022. Puchase intents can be submitted by phone call or text to Jamie or to Blair Williamson - you are not required to be “in person” on sale day to place a bid.

The first person to state intent on a lot is placed in as the buyer at the tag price.

For lots that have multiple buyers interested, we will have an auction between those who have stated interest. When there is no further advance in the bidding the lot will be declared sold to the highest bidder.

Unsuccessful bidders have the option to bid on any remaining lots in the sale.

Sale order will be determined by the number of interested bidders starting with the lot with the most bidders.

Announcements – Will take precedence over any printed material Health- A full herd health program is in effect using a Modified Live virus vaccination program under the guidance of Mac Littlejohn DVM, Kirkton Veterinary Clinic. All breeding age females have received their pre-breeding vaccination in March 2022.

Breeding – Animals are open and ready to breed. Animals purchased in sale can remain at no charge until May 1 2022 and can be exposed to our walking bulls on hand or can be kept from bull exposure. All other arrangements can be made but must be stated and agreed upon prior to intent to purchase.

Terms and Conditions – All animals are selling under the terms and conditions of the Canadian Hereford Association, all animals are registered and will be transferred upon completion of payment.

Insurance – Each animal becomes the risk of purchaser at the time of sale. Please arrange for your own insurance coverage for your purchases.

Trucking – We will do our best to assist you with trucking arrangements, please pick up animals by May 1 2022.

Nutrition – Animals are provided nutrition from B&L Farm Services Chesley, supplied by Wallenstein Feed and Supply. Animals are on a year-round chelated trace mineral program.

Jewel comes from one of our foundation cow families that started with the Purchase of Walpole Amiga 13H from Fred and Marilyn Mason in the spring of 1999. Jewel displays a perfect front end, opens up into a great sweep to her rib with lots of top and capacity. Statistically her MPI and FMI indexes are at the top of the breed. Her full sister is performing well in the 2-year old pen and is just one of the valued members of this cow family.

Her Dam is a favourite cow in our herd stemming from the Teil cow family we purchased from the Wray family in Manitoba. Her full sister is a standout in the 2-year-old pen so don’t be too hard on Jaisie for having some extra white! I thought we would be keeping this heifer so buy with confidence.

Their Zircon dam produced a $6500 bull selling to the Polvi family in Saskatchewan, then had these dynamic set of twins and this year has a stout made herd bull prospect by Bolder. Hard to tell these 2 daughters apart without checking their tag, both are long made, expressive muscled and attractive, more than one visitor has picked them out as potential show heifers.
