2025 OSF Tag Sale Catalogue

Page 1

Welcome to our 5th annual Tag Sale! On behalf of our family and the Larmer family we welcome your evaluation and want to thank you for supporting us as we continue to strive to supply genetic solutions to enhance your operations and Better Your Beef.

Our sale format remains similar to past years. We enjoy the opportunity to visit with you as we tour through our herd, this gives us a chance to better understand your needs and goals for your breeding program. If you have questions about the close out process, please let us know.

This past year we had the opportunity to follow our steers through slaughter and receive back some carcass data. All our steers graded AAA, except one that was a Prime grade! This small sample gives us an indication that our efforts to better our carcass qualities are working. While we have put effort into selecting improvements in carcass quality, we have not sacrificed the maternal ability that Hereford brings to the industry.

We firmly believe that profitability and sustainability for commercial operations will be positively impacted by those who use Hereford genetics in their breeding program! Feed efficiency, fleshing ability, longevity, functionality and docility truly impact the economics of your business.

The offering is diverse again this year so that we do have something for everyone, regardless of your type of operation. Some elite animals as well as some that are more suited for use in a progressive crossbreeding situation. Several lots of Baldy females showcase the maternal advantage and adaptability commercial producers can obtain to make better mothers from using Hereford genetics. As demand has increased with more requests for bulls, we again have several herd bull prospects included in this years sale.

Finally, we look forward to your visit, please consider this your invitation to come for a tour, on sale day or in the days leading up to the sale. On display will be our newest herd sire “Gold Creek” who comes from the Richardson Ranch in Tlell BC, proving we go to the “edge of the world” to find the next genetics to incorporate in our herd. If you can’t make it to the sale, we will have videos posted as well as Blair Williamson is available to assist you.

Feature Lot 1 twin females have been easy to spot on pasture and in the yard this winter, telling them apart usually resorts to reading their ear tag to be sure as they are so very similar. Take time to study their videos or come see them in person, powerful yet feminine, brood cow look with extra body dimension, beautiful smooth shoulder, deep chested and ample thickness, you can easily see the NJW influence in their design. As a result, we sourced additional semen on Authority to create more like these heifers in the future! 417E has been a dependable cow stemming from our foundation 86R cow family, she has daughters here, at Blair Athol in Sk, and Clark and Andrea Judge purchased a feature maternal sister last year in our 2024 Tag Sale. Selling on Choice, buyer has their pick, and we will retain the other in our herd.

We had really looked forward to having this female as part of our herd to replace her dam 220B. Like her dam she is moderate in size and expect her udder to be ideal like the paternal sisters by Horizon, and her dam. Maternal brother is working for Steve and Jess Haney in their Angus based cow herd at Seaforth, a maternal sister sold to Ashley Miedema in our 2023 Tag sale. Exposed from May 17 –Sept 7 to OSF McCoy Leverage H022 2123L, expected to calve mid May.

Better built for Canadian winters.

Keeping a herd healthy and profitable isn’t always easy. And it gets even harder through Canada’s tough winters. Originally introduced to Canada because of our tough winters, Herefords and Hereford crosses are hardy enough to stay strong through the toughest weather. With these durable winter grazers, you’ll see lower feed costs and unmatched feed efficiency.

It’s time to better your beef, and better your business, with the enduring benefits of Hereford.

From the Fletcher herd and out of their Elle cow who is highly regarded. Last year she raised an embryo calf for us and is being offered as she has gotten later in her calving window this year.
