JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2015

TRUNKLINE President’s message: Saundra Waecker Hello ORWF, Will you join us for lunch on February 11th 2015 at the El Camino Country Club? I have never been more proud or more excited about a speaker for one of our events. I still can’t believe we were able to get him to come to Oceanside to speak to us. He spoke last month in San Diego to a much larger group and they sold out all tickets and were turning people away at the door. Get your reservations in early because we can only seat 100 people at El Camino Country Club and we are advertising this luncheon to the public. So call me today 760-492-1774, or email skwaecker@cox.net, if you want to come. Oh, who is this person who will be speaking? Let me see if you can guess? He was the weatherman for KUSI for 20 years. He founded the Weather Channel. He was the first weather man on Good Morning America and when I grew up in Chicago, he was my weather man. I just saw him on CNN taking on those who intend to take away our freedom under the guise of man made climate change. He was taking these people on as any scientist would with good old fashioned facts. I saw him on the Kelly File on Fox News doing the same thing. Any guesses who this is ? He will be speaking to us about Man Made Climate Change and why he is a skeptic. Man Made Climate Change: The Man-Made climate change agenda will effect our future freedom and impact our everyday lives and is the most important issue on the world stage at this moment in time. it is this lie, this scam and this globally accepted premise that is driving all local regulations and regulatory bodies. All local planning Boards including city councils and their projected projects are all being looked at through the prism of climate change and man’s influence on the environment or his Carbon footprint. First let me say this about Man Made Climate Change. I know in my heart it is through the man-made climate change agenda that the world intends to redistribute wealth globally and to control the masses and eventually deny individual freedom and of course private property ownership. There is no issue that is more important because this is the global call to action to control everything. That is why I am so excited to have my hero,John Coleman as our speaker at our February 11th Luncheon. Please see his BIO on the next page. Please don’t miss this luncheon! God bless you all, Saundra Waecker

John Coleman Founder of the Weather Channel, KUSI Weatherman for 20 years.

Brilliant warrior against the claim of the settled science of man-made climate change John Coleman Former Meteorologist, KUSI-TV San Diego

John Coleman founded The Weather Channel and was the original weathercaster on ABC’s “Good Morning America” with David Hartman and Joan Lunden. He earned a B.A. degree in Journalism in 1957 from the University of Illinois, and after a decade of self-study and correspondence classwork obtained the American Meteorological Society’s full Professional Meteorologist membership. He was honored by the AMS as Broadcast Meteorologist of the Year. After starting The Weather Channel he moved to New York City and then for the past twenty years was weatherman for KUSI in San Diego, California. John Coleman has become a skeptic of the man-made climate change settled science claim from the rich globalists. His stance has made him a target of the left, but he argues the science not the hype. His counter to the agenda is from his science background. He is not dealing in hyperbole but in facts. He is an amazing speaker, this should be a great luncheon.

His appearances on Fox News with Megan Kelly and on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPtK9tm1kp4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQshyqCLYHo

POLITICS 101 has moved locations and days we are now offering our great and free politics 101 at a new place and day. We still have bagels, goodies and coffee.

We now meet at the VANC building at 1617 Mission Ave, Oceanside We now are meeting on the first Saturday of the month instead of the last Saturday. Our next meeting is Saturday February 7th at 9:30 am till 11:30am questions? Call Susan Custer, VP Programs. 760-672-1954 or email her at susanbcuster@gmail.com

First VP of Programs Susan Custer, susanbcuster@gmail.com

Politics 101, Saturday, February 7th, 2015 our presenters will be City Councilman Jack Feller and our own Mary Azevedo and it will be a workshop on the City Council. They are going to explain how to look at a City Council Agenda and understand what it means. Recently I put out a call for Action on an Agenda item on the city council Agenda for January. This Item could possibly have changed the power structure of our city governance. We all sent emails and it turned out really great and the mayor pulled the item from the Agenda. However, because I do not know how to look at a city council agenda and really understand, I missed some other really important issues that happened the same night. One was a 4% raise for the the Oceanside Policemen. Do they deserve a 4 to 5% raise, Did anyone question it? However there was also a private property land use on the Agenda and this council struck it down after the land owner had jumped through all of the hoops for all of the other planning boards and it had been approved. The council we have now really needs to be monitored and if we don’t do it, who will? Liberty starts locally. Come to Politics 101 and learn how to find information in an Agenda, and understand what our local government has planned for the future of Oceanside. Liberty is maintained with our vigilance.

ORWF Scholarships for High School Seniors, Do you know someone who would qualify? call Pam Chambers, 760-722-0648

Charlotte Mousel Scholarship Charlotte Mousel,a dearly loved and respected Past President of CFRW Southern Division as well as a State and National President, Charlotte exemplifies the dedication and commitment of Federated Women. Southern Division's prestigious scholarship is named in honor of Mrs. Mousel. The scholarship is awarded to assist graduating seniors who demonstrate ability to think constructively on matters affecting our government. The Charlotte Mousel Scholarship is given every year by Southern Division to a young man or woman who exemplifies qualities of Citizenship and Scholarship. The Charlotte Mousel Scholarship is specific to Southern Division, this yearly scholarship recognizes High School students through an essay contest. Charlotte Mousel believed strongly in our constitution and so this scholarship always uses the Constitution and its uniqueness as the subject matter. After reading and evaluating the entries submitted for the Southern Division Charlotte Mousel Scholarship, the County Presidents unanimously agree on the winners. ORWF selects one winner from our Oceanside residents and ORWF awards that young man or woman $500.00, our winner is then sent on to compete at the County level in San Diego and the winner from San Diego moves onto our Southern Division competition, collecting scholarship money from each of these organizations, if they win.

Joan Parro Scholarship The Joan Parro Scholarship is in it’s second year and it is given in the name of ORWF’s most beloved President emeritus Joan Parro. Joan is past president of Oceanside Republican Women Federated and is her most valued mentor. Joan was a teacher for many years and it is her love of education for all children that makes this award so important to ORWF. The Joan Parro Scholarship is given at the same time as the Charlotte Mousel and it uses the same Constitution essay and evaluations to determine the winner The winner is awarded $250.00 by ORWF.

JAN-FEBRUARY 2015

A Different Kind of New Year’s Resolu:on by Mary Baker, SDCFRW Chair, Local Ac:vism-‐January 2015 Contact: marybaker86@gmail.com – Website: www.ci:zenninja.org

Happy New Year and best wishes as you commit to your New Year’s resolu8ons! However, before you pledge to spend your 8me on a new diet regime or a gym membership so you can get back into shape, consider making a different kind of resolu8on this year. For our future’s sake, make a commitment to stay ac8ve in poli8cs following this 2014 elec8on. There is a vast difference between how Republicans and Progressive Democrats think and act following an elec8on. Republican Ac8vist Mind Set: “Phew! What a ride! I am spent both in 8me and money but it was worth it…the candidates I was suppor8ng won the elec8on!! Our party has the majority in Congress…it’s all good. I can finally get back to focusing on my job, my family, and my hobbies before I have to gear up for the 2016 elec8on. I trust the people I helped get elected to represent me.” Progressive Democrat Ac8vist Mind Set: “So…our local team won some, but we also lost the Senate. What are my Party’s talking points so I can coordinate and run interference not only with na8onal poli8cs but with new local conserva8ve ini8a8ves? 2016 is right around the corner and I need to make sure the policies we worked hard to establish don’t get tossed out. I need to support the elected officials we s8ll have in office.” To every single Republican woman in the Federa8on who rolled up her sleeves and clocked in the many tough hours geZng out the vote; to those who worked 8relessly at the polls to ensure elec8on integrity, and who gave of their treasure to support candidates…KEEP GOING!! Our Republican public servants need us more than ever. Yes, we need to hold them accountable, but we also need to support their commission. Why? Because, Progressive Democrats are gearing up to disrupt the efforts of our public servants. Non-‐governmental organiza8ons are giving talking points to their membership to make sure they have a coordinated message. They are mobilizing their local communi8es’ chapters, their ‘boots on the ground’, to acack and neuter any policies that work against their agenda. I have heard from conserva8ve elected officials that this coordinated onslaught is difficult to manage without support from the public who elected them to office. They are in desperate need of our voices to counter the conversa8on. They need our par8cipa8on, they need to know we are paying acen8on. Below are 3 resolu8ons you can make that will have an impact on your community. 1) Get to know your city council members and school board trustees personally. Meet them for coffee once a quarter to share factual per8nent informa8on with them and to hear from them about how things are going. When you do this consistently, you communicate to them that you care, you establish your credibility, and you ini8ate a meaningful and las8ng dialogue. Follow the City Hall, County Board of Supervisors, and School District calendars and read the bi-‐monthly/monthly mee8ng agendas. This is the only way to know if there is an agenda item that warrants your acen8on
