The Power Boat Report

Season Summary

Stephen Lazenby

With the seemingly endless winter months holding on much later than usual it has been a quieter time for members to get out on the water for the summer season. We are looking forward to a full calendar of events both with coastal cruising and river adventures over the next couple of months.

General Business

Over recent months our committee members have been undertaking membership checks at the club during the traditionally busy times. This has been a great opportunity for the committee to engage with our existing members. These checks have also offered the committee a chance to meet with guests who are being signed in and to highlight the benefits of being a member of our club.

Highlights

• Mandoon Winery River Cruise

• Wine and Cheese at the cub night

UPCOMING EVENTS

The annual trip to the Mandurah canals to cruise the amazing light show put on by the residents.

A section trip to Jurien Bay for the March long weekend with boating around the close by Islands.

Past Events (last month)

With the weather finally starting to look more like spring the Power Boat section headed off for the annual river run up to Mandoon Winery for lunch and refreshments.

Launching at Maylands for 9.30am it was a leisurely 2 hour trip through historic Guilford and the beautiful Swan Valley. It was great we had two new family’s join us for their first outing and by all accounts they thoroughly enjoyed the day. You couldn’t wipe the smile off Graham Hindley’s face when he got some practice grandchild minding in with one of the youngest members on the outing.

I encourage anyone within the club that is looking to join us for these relaxed family outings to please make contact and we will be sure to make you welcome on one of our trips.

The second Powerboat hosted event was held in early November and all sections were invited to attend a wine and cheese night at the club.

It was a serious event with work to be done, the willing participants were required to taste several wines that had made the short list to be available over the club bar in 2023. After the tastings members were required to rate the wines on

the supplied score cards so we can get an idea of members tastes.

Great wine tasting feedback was submitted by all those attending, I think many members probably tried wines that they traditionally might not have and enjoyed the experience. Thanks for all those who attended and help make the night a memorable one.

Georgina and the bar staff did a wonderful job of preparing a sumptuous grazing table and a chocolate fountain. A raffle was held to raise funds for the club and this was well supported with six prize packs being given away to the lucky participants.
