Social Report
Season Summary
Joanne Harfield
Hey Everyone The Social Section has been busy the last month or so putting on a big offsite event and booking in more events for 2023. The Social Section has also been looking for members to help run events and fundraise through 100 Club and meat raffles and I am pleased to announce that we have an additional 4 new members who are very keen to start planning new events for you guys.
General Business
Over the last few weeks, you would have seen or met a few of our committee members on Friday and Sunday afternoons (including me!) during peak times undertaking membership checks at the Club door. We appreciate everyone's patience with us as we checked memberships and appreciate everyone being so supportive. We received a lot of good feedback from members in undertaking checks which was great to hear. In other news, the Club underwent a small outdoor renovation with the new playground for the kids.
UPCOMING EVENTS
We have a couple events coming up in the new year, starting with a ‘Day at the Races’ event in March, where members will be able to enjoy a great day at Ascot Racecourse. This has been a very popular event in the past, so when this gets advertised, we recommend jumping on it quick!
We're also working closely with the Angling Section to organise a day out Skeet Shooting which should be great fun and a unique experience. Numbers for this event would be very limited so keep an eye out on the Facebook page.
The Club also has a few events in the pipeline for 2023, including Australia Day which is a very popular event for families.
Lastly, if you’re interested in getting involved in the Social Section or have an event idea you would like us to look at please contact me at social@orssc.asn.au.
Highlights
The Social Section is aiming to run around 4 events per year. We just kicked off with the Swan Valley Brew Tour in November and next up is the Day at the Races at Ascot in March. We also have two larger events being held at the Club including the popular Quiz Night in May and Bogan Bingo in July.
Any important information?
By now you would have seen members from each Section running meat raffles on Sundays with meat trays from the local butcher CJ's in Beaumaris. The Social Section will be around some Sunday afternoons running 100 Club over the busy summer months so keep an eye out for us. As always, the RSL will have their meat raffle on the last Sunday of each month, so be sure to get down and support them.

The Social Section headed out on the Swan Valley Brew Tour on Saturday, 26 November. We had a brilliant day out in some beautiful weather. We started the day at 11am at the Swan Valley Brewery where we had a large bar tab where members and their guests could have glasses of local wines and sparkling, tap beers and beef tasting paddles which seemed to be very popular for 3 hours. We were also given large platters of nibbles including garlic bread, meatballs, honey soy chicken tenders and arancini balls. We then moved onto Mash Brewery where we had some more finger food and were also greeting with some live music. A few of our members couldn't help but hit the dance floor. We had a couple hours there enjoying the sunshine and music before heading back to the Club for a few more cold ones! It was an extremely successful day, everyone had a great time and we received a lot of positive feedback. Members were mostly stoked with the value for money for everything that was including on the day, but also that members were given priority which is something the Social Section will keep doing moving forward. Plenty of photos were taken on the day including the ones in this issue of the TIDE magazine. You'll be able to see more on the TV above the Social Sections whiteboard in the main bar.
