HOPE Christmas and the New Year have been busy for the businesses of Orpington. The last few months have been quite busy for us. Following complaints about the behaviour of a small minority of recidivist criminals we have been busy targeting them and their behaviour.
Over Christmas a prolific thief was convicted and, following a successful application to Bromley Magistrates, PC O’Keeffe was successful in obtaining a CBO banning Mr Nigel Spicer from Orpington High Street, Priory Gardens and the Walnuts Shopping Centre. PC Cummings-Palmer arrested Mr George Martin on the Retail Park and, again following an application to the Magistrates, he was banned from entering the venue. Following complaints about soiled persons found in and around the High Street PC Mills has issued CPN warnings requiring these individuals to remove themselves from the locality. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Orpington 1st BID and partner agencies for their assistance in gaining the evidence to take action through the courts on these matters. A column by Acting Inspector Baker to this continues with our housing partners. PC Mitchell gained a Closure Order on a garage used by drug addicts in St Mary Cray to live in, but no longer as they have gone. On a topical note Orpington resident Mr Kevin Lusala was sentenced to a minimum 26 years in prison for a murder in Penge recently Looking forwards there is still lots to do and in a couple of days our first six new recruits start at Bromley.
