2025 State of the Town Address

On Thursday, Oct. 30, Mayor Joe Winfield will deliver his annual State of the Town Address at El Conquistador Tucson, a Hilton Resort. Hosted by the Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce, this event includes a free business expo from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by an 11:30 luncheon and the mayor’s address. Tickets are required for the luncheon and are available at orovalleychamber.com. In early November, a video of the event will be available online so that everyone has an opportunity to hear the mayor’s message.

The Town’s Fiscal Year 2025/26 Adopted Budget is now available on the Town's website. And while we know some folks enjoy the detail of a lengthy financial document, others would just prefer the highlights. That’s why each year we publish the Know Your Town’s Budget summary. This twopage document highlights the Town’s key sources and uses of funding, showing how the budget advances community priorities while maintaining long-term financial stability. Matt Jankowski is Outstanding Professional of the Year

Deputy Parks and Recreation Director Matthew Jankowski has been named 2025 Outstanding Professional of the Year by the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association. The award was presented at APRA’s annual conference, recognizing his leadership, innovation and statewide contributions to parks and recreation. (See photo above.) Since joining Oro Valley in 2018, Jankowski has overseen major growth at the Community and Recreation Center, Aquatic Center and within Outdoor Recreation & Natural Resources. He credited the award to “the collective effort of the Town, our staff and community partnerships.”

$144K grant secured for Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve

The Town of Oro Valley has been awarded a $144,500 grant from Arizona State Parks to fund accessibility improvements at Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve. The project includes pathway repairs, new safety signage, and construction of a new ADAcompliant trail around the planned pond area. With the Town contributing just $8,734, Oro Valley’s share is only 5.7% of the $153,234 total cost. Work will be coordinated with the Desert Ecosystem Restoration Project, scheduled to begin in 2026.

Pavement Preservation progress and fall schedule

The Town’s annual Pavement Preservation program is well underway. To date, several projects have been completed, with work continuing through November, weather permitting. Work hours are typically 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with message boards and traffic controls in place. Pavement preservation extends roadway life at a fraction of the cost of full replacement, helping Oro Valley maintain the best roads in the region.
