Upon the initiative of dance historian Gedeon Dienes the Orchestics Foundation (Orkesztika Alapítvány) was founded in 1991 to give a framework to new tendencies in traditional modern dance. Another company - the Hungarian Art of Movement Company - 1 More Movement Theatre - was founded in 1995 by Márk Fenyves and István Pálosi whose first work Desire Variations, relying on Hungarian modern-dance traditions, was premiered in 1998 and was followed by other productions like Without Wings, Ritual, etc. as well as by reconstructions like Expecting Dawn (by V. Dienes from 1925) and Etudes (by S. Berczik from the 40-ies). The above educational and artistic activities are part and parcel of the many-sided contemporary Hungarian dance life reflecting the impacts of several modern western trends and embracing characteristic national features.
