ICCC INDONESIA NEWSLETTER JUNE 2020 EDITION

JUNI 2020 FROM THE DESK OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT Shalom .... God's partner in the marketplace. Welcome to the new normal life. New habits will tend to be permanent for us if we are able to carry out consistently a new habit for at least 30 days, and in this pandemic period that has not yet ended we have been working from home for more than two months, socializing in a completely different way. A life that is completely different, a new normal life. The global economy was devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Even the impact caused by the pandemic economically is the possibility of a new poverty rate of 30 million inhabitants of which 20 million of them will suffer from hunger. So the economic impact is greater than the direct health impact. The nation's energy and also ourselves are really drawn a lot because of the things mentioned above while at the same time we face an economic situation that is not easy; global recession. We realize that God's Word says that the world is getting more and more negative, but God always wants to show the difference for every believer who does his work / effort in the light of the truth of God's Word. What's the difference? namely that our orientation is not self, not mammon, not pride or build our own kingdom but His kingdom and glory. Not our comfort, because the Word of God says that we are not from this world, but we are citizens of the kingdom of Heaven, as migrants on this earth we do not deserve what is in this world and all its attractions. Entrepreneurs and professionals in our beloved God, look around us that there are really many people who need our helping hand, when we think of them, God can open the way for us how our business and / or work can be a bridge mission that breaks the fetters, freeing them by bringing the truth, answering their needs during this time of great difficulty. We, ICCC-Indonesia also open ourselves and invite through the Emergency Clinic program which is a program with a team that is dedicated in the field of business and industry in their field to help you in business or business struggle so that you can get through this time with valuable faith experience and breakthroughs. Brothers and Sisters, thank you for all your prayers, donations and participation for ICCCIndonesia (International Christian Chambers of Commerce) See you in the next month edition, and the Lord Jesus bless you and your family. ICCC REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR ASIA

2

On Saturday, May 9, 2020, a Seminar was held, through Zoom, which was originally only intended for Asia, and was eventually joined by 88 participants from 93 registering who came from 5 continents and 25 countries. including Indonesia. By presenting Speaker J. Gunnar Olson, ICCC's founders, and Laurens Holt one of the seniors from England, and hosted or moderated by Benjamin Bambang Juwono, ICCC Regional Director for ASIA. The ICCC seniors who took part in appearing: James Lockett who now resides in America when the ICCC formed resided in Belgium, was also one of the founders of the ICCC, and other senior figures such as Alan Curie from Australia, Anton Hemanta from Sri Lanka, Stanley Kee from Malaysia, and many others who partially we displayed in this column. Mr. Jan Sturesson, current President of ICCC also present. The two speakers first delivered the presentation, where J Gunnar Olson recalled the beginning of the establishment of the ICCC with prophecies delivered by someone over the telephone while Laurens Holt addressed the turbulence that hit the boat carrying the Lord Jesus and his students. There are seasons in our life. This is the time for us to make a difference. In ICCC, we are encouraged to move in the spirit and new dimension of faith. Back to the time when the prophecy came to Gunnar. It was 01.30 am in the morning when God said: This is the time when my people become clean and pure, all answers come to Me. In the time of the economic problem, we should not focus on things around us, but leaning on the Lord. It is not about What we can do but keep on eyes to the Kingdom that cannot be shaken. When the storm is coming to our boat, be still in Him. The time is ticking in our life. Let us recognize the time we live today. Let us be humble and it is a time of shifting, focusing on Him. ICCC had spent 40 years to wait for the Promised Land. It is a significant time.

WISDOM & TESTIMONY THE POWER OF CHRISTIAN BUSINESS OWNERS DURING COVID-19 The COVID-19 pandemic is testing the leadership capacity of business owners and CEOs across the nation and world, and that’s perhaps especially true for those whose spiritual lives are fully integrated with their business lives.

6

Christian business leaders face the onerous task of making difficult management decisions in uncertain times while still holding true to their Christian values. “Leaders are charged with the three-fold challenge of learning from the past, assessing the present and declaring the future,” says Michael Sipe, author of the Amazon No. 1 bestseller The AVADA Principle. “The risk of being wrong in making those distinctions is enormous. Lives, cultures, organizations, and economies are at stake based on the competence, character and actions of our leaders.” Sipes is founder of the Christian executive coaching firm 10x Catalyst Groups which helps entrepreneurs grow profitable and thriving businesses and provides guidance to businesses organized on a foundation of Biblical principles. He has enjoyed a successful 30-plus year career in mergers, acquisitions, and business development as the founder of CrossPointe Capital, a middle market investment-banking firm. In that capacity, he has consulted with and evaluated over 5,000 companies and has provided advisory services for approximately a half-billion dollars in business sales involving hundreds of companies. According to Sipes, many businesses have had to close their doors while others operate with their employees working under stressful conditions or fulfilling their duties remotely from home. The question is: how do Christian business leaders navigate through unsettling times such as these so that their businesses – and the people they lead – will continue to thrive? Sipe says meeting that challenge comes down to engaging three core attributes of truly wise and effective leaders: heart, head and hands. Sipes offers the following ideas:

7

Guard your heart When Sipe speaks of the heart in this context, he means the metaphorical one, not the physical organ. “Your heart includes your mind, will and emotions and is the very essence of who you are as a human being,” he says. “When leaders fail to guard their hearts against the inherent human tendency to drift toward deceitfulness, their hearts become shallow, hard or evil. Followers will suffer and the leader’s declared outcomes will be thwarted or diminished.” Christian leaders, he says, need to model love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control for those they lead. Sharpen your mind While having a big heart is wonderful, it’s not sufficient, Sipe says. Some people with great hearts don’t have the competence to lead. “We must continually strengthen our minds, build our skills, and develop our competence to lead,” he says. Some of the components of a sharp mind include leadership skills such as critical thinking, analysis, planning, communicating, delegating, hiring, firing, promoting and demoting. For Sipe, sharpening the mind also means desiring and seeking the revelation of the plans, purposes and perspectives of God. Strengthen your hands A leader needs to act as well as talk. “A softhearted person who’s unwilling to act is not a leader,” Sipe says. “A smart guy who’s unwilling to act is simply a hypocritical blow-hard, not a leader. To lead effectively in challenging times, we must build the habit of effective action. We must act out of good motives. We must act wisely. And we must act courageously, promptly and decisively.” “Clearly, we are living and leading in hard times. That makes it a time for exceptional leaders,” Sipes said. “Leaders who guard their hearts and temper tough decisions with love and compassion. Leaders who sharpen their minds and grow in competence. Leaders who go to work with strong hands and an indomitable will to serve others, and to help all we serve to come out the other side of this challenging season better in every way.”

DEVOTIONAL We Walk by Faith Not by Sight We are a people of faith, not a people of fear! The scripture reads “Yea though I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death” not “Yea though I walk thru the valley of the shadow of no toilet paper.” Our faith is being tested. Passing or failing, your response will mark a significant milestone in your walk of faith. But even more importantly, how you deal with this test is your Christian witness! In times like these, people will notice someone who responds differently than the crowd. True faith is the thing that empowers us to respond differently. This is not to say we will not have anxious feelings or experience moments of doubt, but ultimately our response should be grounded in God’s promises. Real Faith is believing God’s promises are more real than anything we can see or feel in this world...and that includes the Coronavirus and empty shelves on the toilet paper isle.

2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by faith and not by sight.” 18
