SURVEY QUESTIONS
Question 1: How would you rate OmniRide’s efforts to keep employees informed of news/updates and make information accessible?
Other 26% 3% 7% 7%
I am very informed (I receive updates and can easily find information when I need it.)
I am somewhat informed (I receive some updates, but usually have to find information on my own.)
I am not very informed (I rarely receive updates, and have a hard time finding information on my own.)
I am totally uninformed (I have no access to updates or information.)
Question 2: Please rate the frequency of agency-wide internal communications you receive.
I like the frequency of communication
Too many emails/ publications
• Would like more valuable communications between departments.
• Relative to other organizations, this is good.
• I would prefer a mix of emails, publications, and posts on the share drive. I think regular communication should be sent every other week, with important/time-sensitive sent whenever necessary.
SURVEY QUESTIONS (CON’T)
Question 3: How do you prefer internal agency-wide information to be presented?
• On the SharePoint site.
• Depends on the information shared. For simple updates, email would be sufficient. For information that is new or presents some detail both graphic/infographic as well as live presentation would be great to allow an opportunity for question and answer.
•A mix of everything.
Question 4: What source do you prefer to get internal information about the agency?
• All the above
• I like getting information in a variety of ways. •Video
Question 5: When possible, would you prefer to receive agency updates, announcements, and news on an impromptu basis, or would you prefer updates, announcements and news be compiled in a single weekly digest email?
Receive company updates and news whenever via email
Receive news in a weekly newsletter or weekly digest email
• I would prefer either once or twice a month for this type of communication. They are easier to keep up with. Anything important that needs to be passed around as soon as possible is okay with me.
• I would prefer a mix of emails, publications, posts on the share drive, and videos. I think regular communication should be sent every other week, with important/time-sensitive sent whenever necessary.
• I think there’s a happy medium...bi-weekly? The point is to treat it like a news site where I build into my routine to scan the news for the NEW stuff.
Question 6: Are there topics that you feel are important to know more about and want the agency to include in future internal communications?
Feel like we could do more learning about transit. How is the service delivered (ops)? What is in our strategic plan(s) and how are we getting there?
Presentation on our strategic plans and future outlooks would be interesting to hear about such as through the recently started OmniRide Chats- lunch and learn. Also interesting would be a presentation on our various routes and how we decide on which routes to expand, end, or start new. And how much our funding streams influence those decisions.
Understand more about each department; highlight a person from each department as a get-to-know-you. It can be a scaled-back version of the deep dives.
Question 7: What do you like best about the agency’s internal communication? (Such as the channels, methods, frequency, etc.)
I like the OmniRide Newsletters in addition to the All-Hands Meetings. They are generally really informative, but brief. Also, the information on the monitors is nice as well!
They are well thought about, have a consistent brand on how information is presented, and are participatory.
I like how frequent the communication comes in and the reminders and preparation for the employee to stay informed with current events that are coming up.
Question 8: Do you have any feedback or suggestions for consideration when it comes to OmniRide’s internal communications strategy?
I am currently pleased and look forward to OmniRide’s maintenance of keeping the communication coming and open for feedback from the employees. It’s great to see the goal to always improve and this way to keep inclusion at the forefront is awesome. Thank you OmniRide family.
Too many things are communicated multiple times, meaning I hear the same update several times. We also need to better discern what people need to know. I think with the number of meetings we have, people feel pressure to provide content in those meetings.
Twice a year “state of the union” updates - in person for all OmniRide and Keolis staff in the Large Conference Room.
Overall, OmniRide’s internal communications is done well for the entire agency. However, it is also important for Department Heads (Finance, Marketing, Planning, etc.) to have Department-wide communication (meetings). Finance hasn’t had a department-wide meeting. We’re working together, but it’s important to meet in person even once a quarter to discuss Department initiatives and strategies.
Complex items like service change information need to be somewhere so it’s accessible when needed. More infographics would be good where appropriate.
