By Wm. Cor y Jeffries, LMT In the summer of 2003, I realized that I would be turning 40 soon! Understanding that this was a big birthday, I began to reflect on what I had accomplished up to that point in my life. Focusing my attention on Inner Growth, I decided to take up running. Because I am the type of person who doesn’t like doing things half-way, setting a goal would answer any lingering doubts about myself. I would do more than just start running. I’d take on a major challenge; I’d train to run the Walt Disney World Marathon. The first time I went for a run, I could barely breathe. I’d never ran track, or cross country in school, and being a big beefy strapping dude, the last active thing I did was Navy boot camp in 1983. At that time my training grounds were in Ormond Beach, FL. I was trying to “run” the one-mile bridge over the Halifax River and on the first day, I almost didn’t make it to the top for fear of a stroke.
