October 2012

LAHAINA BAPTIST CHURCH

PASTOR CHRIS’ CORNER Aloha kakou, We are moving forward into the latter part of 2012, seeming like that we just celebrated the 2012 New Year! Time sure flies when you’re having fun in ministry! Preparing for the resort ministry, the Ka’anapali Beach Club has agreed to host our Sunday services and we are in the finalizing part of the paperwork! Mahalo for your prayers and please continue to ask for God’s favor as we desire to minister to the guests and owners of the North Ka’anapali/Honokowai area of West Maui. God has blessed us incredibly with the open doors of this resort ministry and with the blessing of the great management at KBC. Stay tuned for the actual scheduled start date to come soon! In our Sunday morning messages, we will be looking at the secret of the abundant life, found in Romans 8. Well, I guess it’s not really a secret if it’s already been found, but we are addressing the thought that many Christians are missing this life

because we do not understand its true plan in our lives. Join us on Sunday morning as we continue to uncover this secret, either in person or online at 10:15 Maui time. Also, as many churches celebrate Pastor Appreciation Month in October, I am always reminded that I am very thankful to be your pastor. I could not imagine a more wonderful body of believers to serve and I am truly blessed! You have encouraged and strengthened my family and me over the past six years – we are looking forward to many more years together with you! Mahalo again for the wonderful privilege that you have given me to be your pastor. I pray for God’s continued blessings on us all, as we grow closer to Him. Until next month, Aloha in Christ, Pastor Chris

How Do I Find Life A/er Failure? There are no perfect people. We all make mistakes and fail at one

thing or another. The Bible is full of accounts of people who have failed in different ways. The woman, at the well in Samaria, saw her need because of Jesus, was able to confront herself, and move forward to a new life. Abraham sought to help the Lord out by making his own plan. God helped him to refocus on His plan. Peter denied Christ three Kmes, but God was sKll able to mighKly use Peter for His work. Those accounts give us hope in the face of our failures. We need only to turn to God, the Giver of Hope and RedempKon, who lovingly picks us up and places us on solid ground. Join us every Sunday at 9 in October, as we learn how to move from our own failures to forgiven, producKve lives. Study with us as we encourage each in our faith and share how God has given us new life.

Scripture for October: Psalm 130:3-4 New International Version (NIV) If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

October Anniversaries:

17. Don and Anna Sprinkle

Please call the church office if we have missed your special day, so we can update our records.
