Michael Bongiardino, our resident expert, lifelong New Yorker, and M Club Concierge, shares his suggestions for planning the perfect winter weekend in the City That Never Sleeps.
Michael, who grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, recently celebrated his 15th anniversary with Marriott International last May. Before joining Marriott, he spent 22 years on Wall Street and one year at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park before making his way home at the New York Marriott Marquis, where he continues to make positive impressions on guests.
Known for his passion for people, places, sports, photography, concerts, theater, and dining, along with his lifelong love for New York City, Michael is the ideal person to plan the ultimate NYC weekend. DAY ONE
From the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square, head a few blocks down, where you will find the charming, open-air European-inspired Bryant Park Winter Village holiday shops boasting exquisite gifts from around the world.
Kids of all ages will have a ball discovering the world’s most iconic store FAO Schwarz at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Get ready for fun, interactive experiences, from a baby doll adoption agency to building a car at FAO Raceway, among other in-store attractions.
DAY TWO
Seeing the city skyline day or night is unforgettable. This season, make your way to the 230 Fifth Rooftopfor food, drinks, and panoramic views high above.Have a brilliant evening at Lightscape, a dazzling display of over a million lights at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Another over-the-top must-see is Dyker Heights Christmas Lights Decorations, a spectacular scene with scenes and symbols from candy canes to Santa Claus illuminating the entire neighborhood.
DAY THREE
Take a short stroll to Broadway Plaza between 45th and 46th Streets to snap selfies in front of Show Globes in Times Square, larger-than-life scenes from Broadway’s beloved musicals The Lion King, Wicked, and Aladdin. Afterward, indulge in a winter sundae or hot cocoa, or enjoy savory bites at the Broadway Lounge at the New York Marriott Marquis.End the evening on a high note by catching the Christmas Spectacular, starring the Radio City Rockettes at the legendary Radio City Music Hall.
