Dear Girlfriend, I am a loyal reader. Will you please rerun an old letter from a wife not wanting to go to the Florida Classic. Dear Loyal reader, Sure! Here it is. Book coming soon! Dear Girlfriend We are planning to attend the Florida Classic again this year. My husband and I have gone for the last 12 years but I have made up my mind that I am not going again. Every year we spend about $750 on hotel, tickets and eating out. I would rather take that money and travel to see my family for Thanksgiving instead. I’m tired of watching my husband’s lame a$$ friends tell the same stories over and over and over again. If I hear one more sneaking in the girls dormitory story or marching 100 story I am going to scream. I was silent all the way home trying not to be a bi*ch. He kept asking me what was wrong. Really there was nothing wrong except I was just bored and tired of faking it with them. I am going to let him have tonight but tomorrow when he gets home from work I am going to tell him how I feel.

Am I out of line? Classic Blues Dear Classic Blues, No you are not out of line. You should always communicate your feelings to your spouse, but let me see if I can help you rethink this before you mess up a good thang. A lot of times, we don’t know we have a good thing until it’s over. First of all be glad that he wants you to go. That usually means he is proud of you and likes your company. It’s a sure sign he is not trying to get back to any old girlfriend from way back then. Know that just because you decide you don’t want to go anymore doesn’t mean he will not go. It may just mean you will be getting left home next year. I know quite a few men who use the Florida Classic as “the boys get a way weekend” with no wives. A few of the wives were cool with it until they notice their husbands were looking forward to their get-a-way. It had become an annual tradition and they were no longer invited. The wives also noticed that it was hard to reach their husbands . There were a million excuses as to why their phones didn’t work: it died; left the phone in the car; can’t hear the calls in the stadium because of all the noise; the music was too loud in the House of Blues; left the phone in the room; Reception was bad in the building; I’m around the boys I’ll call you back when I get to my room (but they never get that call because) I drank too much and fell asleep; I left my charger in the car,;in the room; or let one of the boys use it and forgot it. You name it, they heard it. Furthermore, the cookouts always had an old girlfriend or an old wanna be girlfriend. In their defense , Oohh they didn’t know that particular chick was coming, they can’t tell who can or will come to someone else’s house or event. By the time their husband got back home their was so much anger and distrust going on it put a strain on the marriage. The usual response or come back is, well if they have guys get away, then,we are going to have a girls’ getaway. Any way it goes, it’s the beginning of annual over night trips away from each other, which is not good for any unstable marriage, especially a

young one. So if you don’t have a problem, don’t create one. In a marriage it’s not always about you and what you want to do. You are his companion and he is yours. A successful marriage is full of compromise. A good spouse knows this. If your husband is happy, let him be. My suggestion to you is, go but make plans to do things you enjoy too, There are shows, celebrity parties, plenty of great outlet malls and tourist attractions. Make plans to attend something and I’m sure he will be willing to go too. Invite one of your girlfriends and her husband to join you or one of his friends and his wife. Life is what you make it, so make it fun. Your husband is happy, keep it like that. Please don’t ruin his time sitting around looking like an unhappy sour pus. Enjoy yourself, be happy. To be happy is a decision. If you are not sick, hungry, too hot or too cold, you can make up your mind to be happy. No one ever said you had to sit under him or ride his coat tail every step of the way. He probably wishes you would be a little more out going and interactive anyway. You are really in a good place. You should always accompany your husband when asked. I suggest you go to class reunions, family reunions, company picnics and company trips, because I am sure there are a few alumni ladies hoping you don’t show up. It’s your job as a wife to be a companion to your husband and for him to be a companion for you. If you know this is what he loves to do, endure it because it’s only one weekend a year. Furthermore I have noticed that when old time friends get together, they get younger again. Allow your husband to get that boost of rejuvenation. Don’t be surprised to discover that you may benefit more than he does from that new found energy. Heyyy!!!!

You Heard It From ME By Publisher Daryl Johnson Joe Biden has had a long time to think about the things he would like to accomplish as president and is now putting them into action. Let’s talk about Joe Biden the man. President Joe Biden, the oldest President in history, stumbles, stutters, nods, trips, falls, and anything else you could think of, but I like him. He’s a husband, father of 4, grandfather of many, a college graduate and a 36 year seasoned Senator of Delaware. Sadly, he was a widower, and a father who endured the daily stress of a child serving in the military. He is a man who has remarried well, to Dr. Jill Jacobs. Furthermore, he is a man like me, who knows the pain of burying their son. Fortunately for us, all these roles bring trials and tribulations which develop character and integrity in a man, qualities I feel a leader needs. During Biden’s tenure as a U.S.

N-Touch News

Senator, I’m sure he has made some good and bad decisions and has supported some good and bad legislation. It comes with the territory. However, with age comes wisdom and it ain’t over until the fat lady sings. President Biden has actually had to come behind the worst President ever, from the disastrous years of a self-serving narcissist. The former President followed none of the rules of protocol and displayed the ways of a gangster running amuck in the White House. Now, the former President has been revealed as stealing highly classified documents leaving us to wonder if they were taken for nefarious reasons or for his friend, the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. America was considered the leader of the Free World. We were respected globally for the way we handled democracy. Now America is teeter-

ing on just holding on to third place, not third world, all because we had a soulless selfish former President. When Barack Obama was in the White House, he brought something that Black folks call soul. Soul was on front street for the world to see and President Barack Obama had the wisdom to choose one of the most soulful seasoned white guys he knew, Senator Joe Biden. Now our current President and ex-Vice President is out to bring back the soul of this nation. His most recent speech, Soul of America outlines just how he is doing it. Joe Biden was cool 40 years ago and is still cool today. Black folks place a lot of stock in one’s ability to dress, speak, dance and mingle and Joe Biden met all those benchmarks. Hmmm, I’m not sure about dance but three out of four ain’t bad. President Joe Biden is doing things

in his time and I believe he is praying about it. He is not rushing anything and is believing in and speaking into existence the things he believes who America is and has always been, a soulful nation, a melting pot. His wisdom is on full display. The soul of this nation has grown into this middle aged democracy from the sum of all its past. If you’ve ever asked an older Black person if they want to go back to their youth, nine times out of ten they will probably say no and maybe even a hell no. Why? Because ‘age knows and youth supposes.’ Not sure who said that but it’s appropo here. Age generally brings on wisdom and President Joe Biden is showing just how wise he is. Imagine America going back to its youth. Yeah right, that’s not even an option. While 2024 is just around the corner, let’s hope his VP pick can follow his footsteps and become President. Kamala 2024!!!

New Artist Spotlight Make Room For This Natural Beauty.

Slim, gorgeous and multi-talented, Miss Slimeroni is the latest female rapper hailing from Memphis, Tennessee! Joining the company of veterans like Yo Gotti, Moneybagg Yo, the late Young Dolph, the newest female sensation Glorilla, and many other greats, Slimeroni oozes on the scene as an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with. Slimeroni’s government name is Aja, pronounced like the continent Asia. When asked about the name, Slimeroni, Aja says it was a given name that also makes a play on “tenderoni,” so she just rolled with it.

Slimeroni’s visual facade complements her skill as she spews hard, rhythmic verses loaded with boldness and raw energy. Aja’s interest in music really started to pique while in college as she was trying to figure out what she wanted to do. Performing has always been a part of Aja’s sense of expression, especially when empty words seem inadequate. Rapping became an escape and Aja discovered she was good at it. Upon returning to Memphis from college, Aja put in the work by grinding in local gigs, collaborating with platinum producers, and most recently performing at Gotti’s Birthday Bash.

Slimeroni’s talents and natural beauty have allowed her the opportunity to travel around the country, and she has had the pleasure of hearing her music played in clubs and streaming internationally. Random google searches for Slimeroni’s music will render many songs and collaborations with other artists demonstrating the passion for her craft. Slimeroni’s performances on stage morph into an eclectic mix of different personas, ranging from the likes of a vixen to a runway model, depending on the flow, all with the versatility of a chameleon.

Aja’s hard work has paid off, she recently inked a deal with InterScope Records, which also is home to Kendrick Lamar, DaBaby, Maroon 5, Gwen Stefani, and Dre, among many other esteemed artists. The “Queen of the Slime” will be in excellent company. Much success to Aja (aka) Slimeroni) as she fulfills her dreams and ascends to the next level.

A FAREWELL MESSAGE TO EDDIE My fellow citizens, it saddens me to inform you that the Saturday Morning Breakfast Group (SMBG) has lost a dear friend and brother, Eddie Adams, Jr. As you know, he stood alone in his political convictions while being unapologetic about supporting all things to better the lives of Black people. Eddie was a founding member of the Saturday Morning Breakfast Group whose mission, in part, is to be positive role models of exemplary leadership for Black boys and young men to emulate. Eddie was a proud native of Polk County and spoke often about how

growing up in the “Imperial County” helped to motivate him and shape his passion for education. Eddie worked at and retired from Tampa General Hospital where he had been serving on the Hospital Authority Board as an appointee by the Board of County Commissioners. Eddie was a loving husband to his wife Silvia. He was an architect and a politician. He often said that politics is a blood sport

but he found joy in boldly standing firm on his political perspective and views. Eddie was a warrior who also ran for congress and won symbolically for the causes that he believed in most. He was also a radio talk show host who claimed to have the number one non-Nielsen rated program “Porch Talk Radio” on WTMP 1150 AM. Eddie Adams was and will always

by James Ransom

be remembered as a loyal brother and member of our SMBG family who as he often said, “served on 38 boards and chaired 16.” He was simply one of a kind and will be sorely missed. One quote that would be appropriate and fitting for us to say about Eddie is “We can’t choose our family members as we go along life’s way. When it comes to who’s in our family tree, we just don’t have any say. But if the time ever came along and it were possible to do, when I was picking out a brother, there’s no doubt that I’d choose you.”

Over Charged

A woman decided to give herself a big treat for her 70th birthday by staying overnight in a really nice hotel.. When she checked out the next morning, the desk clerk handed her a bill for $250.00. She demanded to know why the charge was so high “I agree it’s a nice hotel, but the rooms aren’t worth $250..00 for just an overnight stay - I didn’t even have breakfast!” The clerk told her that $250.00 is the ‘standard rate,’ and breakfast had been included had she wanted it. She insisted on speaking to the Manager. The Manager appeared, forewarned by the desk clerk, announced: “This hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center which are available for use.” ”But I didn’t use them.” ’Well, they are here, and you could have.” He went on to explain that she could also have seen one of the in-hotel shows for which they were so famous.”We have the best entertainers from the world over performing here.” ”But I didn’t go to any of those shows..” ”Well, we have them, and you could have.” No matter what amenity the Manager mentioned, she replied, “But I didn’t use it!” and the Manager countered with his standard response. After several minutes discussion, and with the Manager still unmoved, she decided to pay, wrote a check and gave it to him. The Manager was surprised when he looked at the check. ”But Madam, this check is for only $50.00” ”That’s correct I charged you $200.00 for sleeping with me.” ”But I didn’t!” ”Well, too bad, I was here, and you could have.”

Two senior citizens meet in the park many years ago and talked and fed the pigeons for almost 20 years. One day one of the fellas shows up and his buddy doesn’t show. At first he thought, well, maybe he has a cold. After a week or so he begins to get worried but realizes he doesn’t actually know his friend’s last name or how to get in contact with him. This goes on for a month, then two months, and he fears the worst, that his friend has passed away. But after 3 months here comes his friend walking up to the park bench like nothing has happened. He says, my God, I thought you were dead. Where have you been? Well, he says, do you remember that little café we would go to once in a while for coffee and a donut. I was in there by myself and that cute waitress waited on me. After I was finished and left I realized I forgot to leave a tip. She got so mad she called the police and told them I raped her. So here come the police into the senior citizen’s home with a warrant. They stated out loud that I was wanted for rape. Hey, at my age, that brightened my day. When I went before the judge and I was asked to declare if I was guilty or not, I said guilty. He took one look at me and gave me 90 days for perjury.

A Baptist preacher was completing a temperance sermon: with great expression, he said, “If I had all the beer in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.” With even greater emphasis he said, “And if I had all the wine in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.” And then finally, he said, “And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.” Quite pleased with his sermon, He sat down and wiped his face with his hanky. The Minister of Music then stood up very slowly and announced with a smile, “For our closing song, let us sing Hymn #365: “Shall We Gather at the River.”

You Can Do It

When a group of tourists visited a crocodile farm, the owner of the place launched a daring proposal. “Whoever dares to jump, swim to shore and survive, I will give 1 million dollars.” Nobody dared to move, but suddenly a man jumped into the water and desperately swam towards the shore while he was chased by all the crocodiles. With great luck he arrived, taking the admiration of everyone. The owner announced “We have a brave winner.” After collecting their reward, the couple returned to the hotel, and upon arrival, the manager told him “he was very brave to jump” the man replied, “I didn’t jump, someone pushed me!” His wife smiled. Moral of the story — Behind every successful man, there is a woman who pushes him.

Drug Enforcement

DEA officer stops at a ranch in Texas and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, “I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs.” The rancher says, “Okay, but do not go in that field over there,” as he points out the location. The DEA officer verbally explodes saying, “Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me.”Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removes his badge and proudly displays it to the rancher.”See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish... On any land. No questions asked or answer given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand? “The rancher nods politely, apologizes, and goes about his chores. A short time later, the old rancher hears loud screams and sees the DEA officer running for his life chased by the rancher’s big Santa Gertrudis Bull.. .With every step, the bull is gaining ground on the officer, and it seems likely that he’ll get gored before he reaches safety. The officer is clearly terrified. The rancher throws down his tools, runs to the fence, and yells at the top of his lungs... ”Your badge... Show him your badge!”

“I spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn’t resist myself and asked...’’Dad, why don’t we activate your internet banking?’’’’Why would I do that?’’ He asked...’’Well, then you won’t have to spend an hour here for things like transfer. You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!’’I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking. He asked ‘’If I do that, I won’t have to step out of the house?’’Yes, yes’’! I said. I told him how even groceries can be delivered at your door now and how amazon delivers everything! His answer left me tonguetied. He said ‘’Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now. You know I am alone... this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave. Two years back I got sick, The store owner from whom I buy fruits came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried. When your Mom fell down a few days back while on her morning walk, our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live. Would I have that ‘human’ touch if everything became online? Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer? I like to know the person that I’m dealing with and not just the ‘seller’. It creates bonds of Relationships. Does Amazon deliver all this as well?’’’Technology isn’t life..Spend time with people ..
