NORTHSHORENEWS

May is Mental Health Awareness Month Mental health is an incredibly vital part of our overall health, which is why it should not be ignored. This month, try to build habits to take care of yourself all year long, so you can be your best self.
Establish or maintain a good work-life balance. We know you love what you do at NorthShore, but be sure to prioritize yourself, your family, and your personal time. Make time for things you like to do after work. Try to avoid checking your work email outside of work hours. Do you find yourself talking about work the whole evening when you get home? Try to disconnect and enjoy your life. You’ll feel better and more recharged for work.
Find a new hobby or interest. Find ways to get active instead of sitting around. While having time to sit with your thoughts and self-reflect can be a good thing, too much of it can make you feel worse sometimes. Focusing on a new hobby can help you reduce stress, build your self-esteem, and improve your overall mental health. Find an activity that makes you excited about life, keeps you active, and social Whether it’s painting, working out, or cooking, make time for it and try to have fun
Take a social media break. While social media is a great way to stay connected to those we care about, it can also be detrimental to our mental health at times It is easy to start comparing ourselves to others when scrolling online, and that can make us feel down or like we haven’t achieved enough. Remember, most people only post the highlights of their lives, not the hard times. Be kind to yourself, don’t compare, and take a step back from socials if you need to.
Talk to someone. If you’re struggling, talking to someone you trust or a professional can help. All NorthShore employees have access to the Perspectives Employee Assistance Program. Scan the QR code to download their app, call/text Perspectives at: 800-456-6327 24/7, or use the live chat feature at the Perspectives Online Portal to instant message with a thirdparty counselor from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday
Services are free, confidential, and available when you need them. If you have any questions about the program, please reach out to HR.
