DEI
The Northwood Tech Brand Promise Our Tagline:
At Northwood Tech, we promise you a hands-on college experience that’s tailored to you and the real world, so you can gain the practical skills and valuable knowledge you need to succeed wherever you go. Experience. Success.
Northwood Tech’s Core Values:
Employee Recognition
The College uses Awardco as its employee recognition platform. You can access Awardco through MyCampus. You will receive an email from Awardco any time you receive recognition.

Recognition through Awardco comes in the form of points, which translate to dollars. Employees can spend points in either of these ways:
An Amazon shopping experience within Awardco
Northwood Tech Bookstore Gift Cards (at a 20% discount!)
Current recognition programs include:
Service Awards
Employees receive service awards every five years. The amount of Awardco points received is equal to the years of service x 10. For example, an employee reaching 5 years of service will receive $50 through Awardco, an employee reaching 10 years will receive $100, and so on. Employees also receive a service award certificate. Those with 20+ years of service receive a scrollcut decorative box containing their certificate.
Kudos
Notice a coworker displaying College values in a positive way? Give them some Kudos! Any Northwood Tech employee can give another employee Kudos by logging into Awardco through MyCampus and clicking the Recognize Someone button. You will then select the employee you wish to recognize, indicate the College value they have displayed, and type a brief comment about why you’re giving Kudos. Each Kudos awards the recipient two points. Every month, we do a drawing to award three Kudos recipients an additional 50 points!
There are no limits to how many Kudos you can give and receive – just be sure to include a note that explains your Kudos! These are private notes, only seen by the Kudos recipient, Talent & Culture and Leadership.
Wellness
Talent & Culture develops wellness initiatives twice per year that any College employee may participate in. Employees can typically choose their level of participation. For example, completing a certain number of wellness activities earns the employee $25 in Awardco, whereas higher participation may earn a $50+ prize.
Leadership Recognition and Miscellaneous
College Leadership has the opportunity to send Awardco points to employees within their respective divisions throughout the year. Additionally, Awardco points for miscellaneous events, giveaways, and drawings are available.

Away (not active)
Offline Available
You can chat someone in any of these statuses, but they may not respond right away if they are busy, away, or offline.

KEEP IN MIND
Have a quick question for someone?
Communicate via phone or Teams chat.
If it isn’t urgent, or if it’s a lengthy request that will involve some research on the receiver’s part, send an e-mail.
Use the search bar to find the person you want to instant message or call. Click on the person, then either type your message or use the phone button to call. View contact and organizational info by hovering over a person’s name.
Submit a MyHelp Ticket
MyHelp Tickets
If you have a question for a department that currently uses our MyHelp system, always submit your question as a ticket rather than using email or Teams.
MyHelp allows departments to track inquiries and often allows you to get faster responses, as several staff in each department have access to tickets.
Know Your Tech
At Northwood Tech, you will use many forms of technology, whether it’s in the classroom, a meeting, or just at your desk. We know some of it may come naturally to you, but it’s always good to know what you’ll be working with. Check out our commonly utilized types of technology below.
Computers
Each full-time employee has his/her own laptop or desktop computer to work from. Some part-time employees may share a desktop computer if they work alternating schedules. Upon first login to your new computer, you’ll be prompted to change your password.
Web Conference
Video Distance Learning (also called ITV), is commonly used for classes, so that students can attend a class even if they aren’t on the campus where the class is being held. We can also use this technology for staff meetings as an alternative to Teams. Meetings are scheduled by submitting a MyHelp Ticket. The ITV application is called BlueJeans and is a web conference tool that allows participation from anywhere with Internet access.
Outlook
Outlook is used for e-mail at Northwood Tech. The calendar function is also commonly used by staff, and calendars are typically shared. This allows your coworkers to see if you are available on a certain date if they are trying to schedule a meeting with you. Your Outlook calendar is also synced to your Teams, so if someone searches for you in Teams, you will appear as Available, Away, In a Meeting, or Busy, based on what is on your calendar at the time. Sometimes calendars are restrictive by default.
To ensure others can see your free/busy times: In Outlook, click File > Options > Calendar > Free/Busy Options… > and check the permission levels of Reviewers. Adjust if needed.
Printers/Copiers
The printers/copiers at Northwood Tech are all connected electronically. When you print from your computer, send it to the printer called SecurePrint. You can pick up your print job at any printer in the College by going to a printer, signing in, and selecting the “Print” option on the screen. You can sign in using your employee ID number or an ID card, provided by the Library on your campus.
Microsoft Teams
If you need to get ahold of someone for a question or quick conversation, try calling or instant messaging them via Teams.
Teams is already downloaded on your computer and should log you in automatically (after your first login). Type someone’s name in the search bar and click on them to send a message. See page 13 for more information.
The Connection
The Connection is Northwood Tech’s intranet and is used by staff to save and share documents and resources. Each division has its own page on The Connection. The homepage has many useful resources, such as the College calendar, login links, divisional news, staff directory, organizational charts, and much more.
You can search for documents from any page by using the search bar. Although it is a lot to look at, you will want to become comfortable using The Connection, as it is commonly referred to by staff.

Who has to do it?
All part-time employees must enter their time worked in E-Time.

All supervisors must approve the time worked and leave that their employees have entered.

Use the payroll calendar on page 20 to determine when you should enter time.
This calendar indicates when pay dates are, when E-Time is open for data entry, when the last day for data entry is, when E-Time is open for supervisor approval, and when E-Time is closed for payroll processing.

Northwood Tech Brand Style Guide
The Name
The name Northwood Technical College may be shortened to Northwood Tech — especially in medium and communication channels that seek to create a casual, conversational tone.
It is never abbreviated to Northwood, NWTC, or NTC.
Guidelines for Logo Variations
The primary version of the logo is preferred for formal documents and on external building signage and in most cases when representing the College as a whole. When the placement is more casual in context, the “Tech with Tagline” logo may be used. When possible, the full college name “Northwood Technical College” should be present elsewhere on the document in text.
Sub-brand logos should only be used on documents and items specific to a sub-brand area. For example, a required program-specific uniform or a programspecific vehicle such as “Driver’s Education” should use the sub-brand logo with the name of the program or department area in the second line. Keep the name of a subbrand area consistent across all subbrandspecific items.
Individual logo elements should only be used when space is limited, such as imprints on small premiums like pens or as an avatar, or in situations where the primary or secondary College logo is used in the first reference, such as a multi-page document or PowerPoint Presentation.

Margins
To maintain a safe area around all versions of the logo, consider the “o” in the logotype to be your standard margin width. Make sure no nearby artwork or typography crosses this margin.
