“Rowing, not Drifting”: Northwest Christian School’s commitment to continuous improvement
In schools, given the pressing busy-ness of the day-to-day, it is easy to become distracted. The education industry is ripe with new initiatives and, as we are seeing on the news every day, dangerous directions. If we’re not careful, we can be tempted to set aside our paddles and begin drifting. Sometimes that drifting can lead to real trouble. To avoid such danger, we need to be rowing, using our paddles–the abilities and tools that God has given us–to be rowing hard in the direction of Christ, and avoiding the dangers of drifting.
As a school, for over a decade, we have collected the data that we need as we work to set our course and row. This data has been collected through surveys of parents, faculty, staff, and students. We have gathered it through interviews. We use standardized tests, research, and our Student Information System. We have sorted this data into what we call the “Four Pillars of Mission Fulfillment”. The mission of Northwest Christian School is to provide a Bible based program of education that enables students to develop a Christian worldview. To accomplish that mission, the four things that we need to be paying the closest attention to are: Christian Worldview, Student Performance, Stewardship, and Demonstrable Excellence. And, that is what we want you to see in this presentation. Transparently, we are going to make sure that you see the highs and lows, the good and the bad, of Northwest Christian School–so that you understand that we are serious about our partnership with families, serious about continuous improvement, serious about the academic and spiritual lives of our students, and committed to Rowing hard in the direction of Christ. We invite you to flip the digital page and enjoy the presentation.
