Most influential people in my life: Definitely my parents and then behind them is our campus pastor Ash Matthesius.

Coach Inness has coached high school football in Arizona for over 30 years. This is his 14th year at NCS and he has coached the Crusaders to 3 State Championships and runners-up twice during that time. Coach loves being around the kids and would love to talk football with you 24/7. His coaching philosophy: "I have always felt that when I ever become a head coach, I would always coach kids the way I wanted to be coached as a player: to have fun and be disciplined. I ask my players to play as hard as they can on every play. We remind our players to represent Northwest Christian and themselves in a Christian way every time we play, on and off the field. When we get a chance to put ourselves 'out there' and show other schools what we're about and what we stand for, we are trying to be a testament of God's love."

Jim James has over 30 years of coaching experience. His coaching philosophy has always been to start 22 different players and has been blessed with great success. He is beloved and respected by his players, coaching staff, and parents not only for being a great coach, but for his unshaken commitment to Jesus Christ his savior. He is beloved by those young men as well. He and his wife Ruth have 2 children Josh and Brianna and 4 grandchildren.

This is Chuck's 9th year coaching the girls program.

He coached 4 years for the boys' program, 20142017. He coached the ACU girls program for 7 years from 2003-2010, and coached the ACU men at from 2019-2021.

Taylor graduated from Northwest Christian in 2016. She played volleyball all four years & helped herteam win a state championship in 2013. Taylor went on to play volleyball at Hope International University for four years. She has years of experience coaching club volleyball. The past few years she has been helping coach Tonya with theJV program. Taylor is excited to continue being apart of the Northwest volleyball program.

Tonya grew up playing volleyball and the earliest memories she has are of her family playing games in the backyard with her grandfather on the ladder reffing the games. She loves the sport and still plays when she can. She began my coaching career in 1996 and it is much more than teaching skills. It's about coming alongside these players, enriching their lives, building their skills, confidence and being an example of Christ.

Lindsay started playing volleyball with school and club in 6th grade, and she played at Mountain Ridge High School.

She loves the game, and she is passionate about helping young athletes grow both on and off the volleyball court.

She believes that every athlete is different, and she will work with each girl to help them reach their goals. Lindsay is beyond excited to see each of these girls work hard, and reach their full potential.

My Favorite NCH Memory: My favorite NCS memory was when we won state for the third year in a row my freshman year on varsity.

What I'm Looking forward to about Senior year: Making new memories, and being able to enjoy my last year with my friends and the senior trip.

Goal for the season: To build a team that can be beneficial for the next years to come. I wanna leave a good mark for the people behind me.

Other Activities or Hobbies: I love to sing, I love going to church, I love hanging out with my friends and family. I like to travel as well.

Plans after High School: To go to school and get a degree.

Most influential people in my life: Probably my parents. They both went through so much in their lives and they have lived out their lives for Christ no matter what. they both love the Lord and put him first all the time.

My Favorite NCH Memory: Going on the Mexico mission trips, going to camp every year, and being on teams with some amazing people.

What I'm Looking forward to about Senior year: Building new relationships, getting closer to my friends, and enjoying our last year together!

Head Coach Brandon Southall Brandon has been coaching Cross Country for over a decade. He enjoys helping others experience the joy of running. He attended Liberty University and ACU. He and his wife of 15 years, Meghan, are the proud parents of Cohen, Merrick, and Bryer. His favorite verse is John 3:30 because it reminds him of what is most important.

Assistant Coach Tanner Webb Tanner has been at NCS since he was in 6th grade. Tanner shared, "For the past 5 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to come back as a coach. Coaching is a passion of mine because I love being able to come alongside these student athletes to help them reach their goals both in cross country and in life.

My Favorite NCH Memory: My favorite NCS memory would be when our cross country team won a state title for both the girls and boys team my sophomore year of high school! I hope our team will be able to do it again this year!

What I'm Looking forward to about Senior year: I am looking forward to helping plan all of the senior events and be involved in many activities! I want to do all the sports I can this year and connect with the people in my grade!

Goal for the season: My goal for this season is to break my PR and for our boys and girls team to win the state championship again!

Plans after High School: My plans after high school is to go to GCU and study Sports Medicine so that one day I might become a Physical Therapist.

Most influential people in my life: My parents have been the most influential people in my life because they have taught me so much in life and have always supported me! They push me daily to continue to seek after God and keep Him first in my life. I love my parents so much and wouldn’t be where I am today without them!

Madison started at Northwest in 2012 and graduated as part of the class of 2019. She participated in the cheer program for 5 years from middle school all the way through high school. She was also a part of the pomline and won a state title for cheer in 2017. Cheer, gymnastics, and dance have always been a part of her life from as long as she can remember. She has always loved tumbling and stunting and getting to see the crowd’s reaction on game days.

After graduating from NCS, Madison attended GCU where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare and graduated in 2021. She is now pursuing her Master’s Degree in Data Science and will be graduating next month. She has worked as a software engineer the last year and half and can’t wait to add the title of cheer coach as her other job and passion. Madison loves working out, traveling, going to Starbucks, and enjoying life with the people she loves most.

She is looking forward to coaching this season and getting to pour her heart into all the girls as well as a program that helped shape her into the person she is today.

Coach Emily is so excited about this upcoming year and getting to be a part of such an amazing program. She knows that God will use this year to not only grow this team in fellowship, but also will prepare them to persevere and be a light to others. Emily cheered at NCS for many years and graduated in 2016. She has a love for students and teaching and graduated from Grand Canyon University with a double major in Elementary and Special Education. She is now a first-grade teacher at Legacy Traditional school. This season is going to be the best one yet and Emily is looking forward to assisting these girls alongside Madison. Isaiah 40:30 states “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

What I'm Looking forward to about Senior year: DC trip and getting out of school early.

Goal for the season: Encourage others and build friendships.

Other Activities or Hobbies: Photography, volleyball, camping, skiing, travel, and anything outside.

Plans after High School: Take a gap year and attend a Christian gap year program and go on to medical school.

Most influential people in my life: Grandma.

My Favorite NCH Memory: My favorite NCH memory has been winning the State Championship in Soccer 2 years in a row during freshman and sophomore seasons. It was a really great experience, the teams were super fun and we were extremely close to each other.

What I'm Looking forward to about Senior year: I’m looking forward to making a ton of new memories in cheer, soccer and for senior trip with all my best friends.

Goal for the season: My goal for this season is to learn more experienced stunts and some new choreography for our dances.

Other Activities or Hobbies:I play club soccer and I enjoy being outdoors going on adventures, and traveling. I love spending time with my friends and family.

Plans after High School: I plan to go out of state and play soccer in college. I also hope to get a nursing degree.

Most influential people in my life: The most influential people in my life are my parents. They have always supported me through everything in life and given me advice along the way. I wouldn’t be who I am without them always pushing me and teaching me life lessons.

Debbie grew up in Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ, and is a graduate of Arizona State University. She has taught band in the valley for 30 years where she developed award winning programs. Debbie has served in various leadership positions, has been awarded Teacher of the Year in the Deer Valley School District, and recieved the O.M. Hartzell Excellence in Music Education Award from the Arizona Music Educators Association. She plays flute and piccolo in her Dream City Church Celebration of Christmas, and has played her flute in the worship band at church for over 30 years. She serves as the principal flutist in the Scottsdale Philharmonic Orchestra, loves to spend time with her family, and enjoys cooking and baking.

My Favorite NCH Memory: By far my favorite NCS memories were the Band Trips. Running around Disneyworld with my friends and jaywalking in New York with Mr. Parsons will always be cemented into my memory.

What I'm Looking forward to about Senior year: Leaving. Nah but for real, already knowing all your teachers, having early dismissal, the existential crisis as you leave your childhood behind, senior year is hype.

Goal for the season: Set the highest standard for the NCS Band Program that the school has ever witnessed. Also to play my instrument decently. (optional) Other Activities or Hobbies: Late night driving on the freeway (Of course within the speed limit) is an unmatched bordem-killer. I also enjoy playing soccer, biking, playing video games, and hanging out with the squad.

Plans after High School: Attend GCU, easily graduate at the top of my class, grind for the cash and die a billionaire. Also spread Gods love.

Most influential people in my life: Most definitely my father. He has sacrificed so much to give me the opportunity for an incredible future.

My Favorite NCH Memory: Every fine arts trip that I got to go on: California, NYC, and the NAU jazz/madrigal festival. I also really loved Q2Qs, tech weeks, and show nights because we got to see everything come together.

What I'm Looking forward to about Senior year: I’m really excited for all the “last” things such as hoco and the trips. On that account, I’m looking forward to growing in my friendships and continuing to make more quality memories. I’m also glad I get to spend one more year here with my sister.

Goal for the season: To just enjoy it and live in the moment since it’s the very last one.

Other Activities or Hobbies: At school I enjoy doing theatre. Outside of school I love singing, music, art, graphic design, reading, and writing.
