Shelter at capacity after a long while By Bailey Wright The Citizen

Five dogs are up for adoption at the local animal control shelter, which is full for the first time in “many years.”

North Haven representatives, state Sen. Len Fasano and state Rep. Dave Yaccarino, won re-election on Tuesday.

“Right now we have a lot of dogs,” Animal Control Officer Chrystal Rashba said Tuesday. “For the town of North Haven, three dogs at a time is a lot.” North Haven Animal Control shares 14 holding spaces for dogs with Hamden Animal Control, along with a handful of cages for cats and some space for other animals, like birds. The shelter currently has 11 dogs total between the two towns, five of which are available for adoption now. After getting approval from the Cemetery Committee and Public Works Department, Daytime Gardeners Barbara Feinberg and Mary Ellen Proto helped the scouts learn about naturalizing daffodils.
