WE NEED MENTORS!!! BECOME A MENTOR IN THE NCBIA WORKFORCE MENTOR PROGRAM
Twenty (20) mentors are needed to pair up with 5 students in each of the building trades classes (Masonry, Carpentry, HVAC, & Electrical) at the JVS.
We all know we need more young talent in the industry and this is our opportunity to help make a difference!! PROGRAM GOALS: • Support students in the building trades programs throughout their Junior and Senior years at LCJVS
Mentor Expectations:
• Connect them with industry experts
• 2-year commitment to get a student from Junior year through graduation
• Strengthen job skills
• Join the building trade advisory committee for the class your mentee is in • Assist in getting the student placed for summer internship after junior year and placed in the workforce after their senior year • Twice monthly 15-minute Teams Mtg to check in on the below (no individual onsite or offsite mtgs) • Attendance • Set and monitor quarterly goal • What they have recently learned • What they can use help with • How academics are going • Lab visit for ½ day to engage with the class and teacher for ½ day • Job shadowing opportunities for the class as available • Attend mentor/mentee event for in person pairing
• Assist students in joining the workforce upon graduation
