for joining us as we celebrate 40 INCREDIBLE YEARS! I am truly honored to serve as your president this year. I’m grateful for the education and lifelong friendships that NCPG has given me, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to give back to this wonderful community. My hope is that you, too, will have a fulfilling experience and create lasting memories with NCPG, just as I have.
I feel fortunate to work alongside 26 dedicated women on the board who are generously volunteering their time to ensure NCPG thrives. They have been working hard all summer to prepare for a wonderful year ahead.
We are also privileged to have 12 amazing teachers committed to supporting us as parents. Please join me in warmly welcoming Jennifer Blalock, who will be teaching Kindergarten, and Dr. Shannon Forshey, who will be teaching 2A this year.
At NCPG, we strive to foster a strong sense of community where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and celebrated. While parenthood can be challenging, we hope NCPG can make it a bit easier and that you leave each class feeling your ‘cup is full.’
To kick off the year, we’d like to invite you to our Brunch and Bubbly Fall Welcome Fundraiser on October 6th from 10 am to 1 pm at The Henry. Enjoy pop-up shops from Bec & Jaye and Golden Desert Boutique, along with our ever-popular Silent Auction and Raffle. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please know that I am here as a resource for you. The board and I welcome any feedback you may have throughout the year, and we are here to support you in any way we can. Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!

Child/Age: Remi, 10 months
Spouse: Michael Stalter
Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ
Career/Former Career: My family has a small real estate investment company where I do the accounting.
Favorite Activity to do with your kid: We love going swimming with Remi! She loves splashing the water and she belly laughs every time our dog jumps in.
Favorite breakfast spot with kids: Our favorite breakfast spot is Amelia’s. It is right down the street from us and we can’t get enough of the Honey Lemon Latte!
Favorite meal to cook your family: My go to is my mom’s chicken & dumplings recipe! It was one of my favorite meals growing up and now I get to share that with my own family which is so special to me.
Favorite place to vacation with family: We spend most weekends every summer in Flagstaff to escape the heat where our favorite thing to do is take walks with our pup, Booker.
Your can’t live without travel items: Our baby carrier!
It makes it so easy to carry Remi around everywhere and she loves it, which makes naps on the go super easy.
Ways to simplify bedtime routine: We stick to the same routine every night, which includes bath, bottle, book, bed. The 4 B’s! And can’t forget extra snuggles before she goes down. Most meaningful moment as a parent: This age has been our favorite so far because she just loves being around us and is laughing nonstop. Nothing beats that sound!
Best parenting advice given to you: Being able to have Remi become a part of our lives rather than becoming our whole lives was the best advice we received. We don’t let becoming new parents prevent us from still living life to the fullest! Now it just includes an extra little human which makes it even more fun.
Best thing learned at NCPG so far: Being able to lean on other parents going through the same stage of parenthood has been so incredibly helpful. Knowing that there is zero judgement and no such thing as TMI, it is so nice to have a group of friends to go to about anything and everything parenthood.
By All Saints’ Episcopal Day School
As the summer months come to a close and we welcome a new school year, it’s hard to believe it’s time to start the school search process for next fall. Selecting the right school for your family is an important decision. Whether you’re navigating this journey for the first time or reevaluating your child’s current educational environment, finding a school that aligns with your family’s values, needs, and aspirations can be both exciting and daunting. Here at All Saints’, we have walked with countless families through the search process and wanted to share some helpful tips as you begin your journey.
Visit campus. First, there’s no better way to explore a program than by visiting campus and talking with folks who know the school best. Your school search should be broad and diverse. At the other end of the exploration process, you will have a better idea of which school best serves your family’s individual needs.
Along the way, attend as many open houses as you can. Learn about the school’s mission and educational priorities. Meet faculty members and ask them to explain their approach to instruction. Make note of how the campus feels while getting a first-hand sense of the school community.
As you continue your search, here are some questions to consider:
• What are your student-teacher ratios? Dynamic instruction, robust curriculum, and individualized attention are enhanced by small class sizes.
• What is your year-over-year student attrition? Happy families stick around. If attrition rates are high, take the time to ask why.
• How do you differentiate in the classroom?
Each student has their own learning style and foundational needs. Professional faculty are able to differentiate instruction to better meet the needs of varying learning styles.
• H ow can parents participate in their child’s educational journey? Schools that value a strong partnership will offer many ways for parents to get involved inside and outside the classroom.
• Is the school focused on belonging? Top-notch schools know how to make students feel like they belong and they know honoring the perspectives of many enriches the school experience for all.
Observe relationships. Selecting the right school comes down to one very simple concept: relationships. The right school will understand that healthy relationships reinforce a successful learning experience for students. Pay close attention to the relationships between teachers and students, between administrators and parents, and between the school and the larger community.
Supplement your Open House with a personal tour. Open Houses give you a rounded experience and lots of light touches with a variety of school constituents. If you want a more personalized experience with a deep dive into program structure, curriculum, and educational philosophy, schedule a personal tour with the Admissions department. Schools will gladly welcome you back for another visit.
As you embark on your school search journey, we’d love to have you at one of our open houses on October 10 November 7 or December 4 where you can tour the campus, meet our dedicated faculty, staff, and students, and experience the vibrant community that is uniquely All Saints’. No matter where you are in the school search process, our admissions team is happy to help you find the best school fit: allsaints.org

Bins are a great way to organize toys, art supplies, and games in a playroom. You can use open bins, closed clear plastic bins with lids, canvas laundry bins, colored buckets, or baskets. I personally also like to have one basket of toys in the main living room, and rotate them frequently.

Kids benefit from structure & routine. They understand that things in life have sequences. Incorporate this into staying tidy by helping them understand that after playing, it’s important to put toys back after playing. You can explain to them that this will make it easier for them to find their toys in the same place every time, and experience the toy/puzzle/book the same way next time.

What is the best way to build confidence in your child?
Letting your child do things for themselves that they are capable of.
Allow them to try difficult tasks and cheer them as they do and if they fail say that is ok you will get it next time.
What have you found to be helpful in developing a strong, deep relationship with your child(ren)?
Snuggle/ cuddle often, lots of kisses and love, honest praise, listen to your kids and make them feel like they are an important part of the family.
What surprised you the most about child development when you became a teacher or parent?
Realizing how little control I had over anyone else in my family was a big shock. I thought if I was the “perfect” parent, my kids wouldn’t have to go through hard things. I wish life worked that way! We all have to struggle and make big mistakes. I have been amazed as I’ve watched my people navigate their hard stuff with grit and grace.
What advice would you give parents navigating the constant stream of information about raising children?
We know our kids better than anyone else. There comes a point where we need to quiet the outside voices, calm our own fears, and listen to and trust our hearts. Moms have great wisdom inside themthe world around them. Overcoming small challenges will build their resilience for larger setbacks as they grow.
DIRECTIONS
A cozy and filling chicken and wild rice casserole made with butternut squash and cranberries. This easy and healthy chicken dinner is a winner every time!
PREP TIME: 25 minutes COOK TIME: 20 minutes
TOTAL TIME: 55 minutes SERVINGS: 6 (or 4 smaller)
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup uncooked wild rice blend 3 cups cooked
- 4 tablespoons olive oil divided
- 11/4 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 medium yellow onion diced
- 1 small butternut squash about 11/2 pounds, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces (about 5 cups cubes)
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme plus additional for garnish
- ¾ cup dried cranberries. I prefer the ones with reduced sugar
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese divided (about 2 ozs)
1. Cook the rice according to package directions. Drain off any excess cooking liquid and set aside.
2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
3. In a large, deep skillet, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced chicken and sauté until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink on the inside, about 6 minutes. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.
4. With a paper towel, carefully wipe the skillet clean. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil over medium. Add the diced squash, onions, salt, and pepper. Sauté until the onion begins to soften, about 2 minutes. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the squash is tender but still retains some chew, about 6-8 minutes. Stir in the thyme, cranberries, reserved chicken, rice, and 1/4 cup Parmesan.
5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, then remove from the oven and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Bake 5 additional minutes, until the cheese melts. Sprinkle with additional chopped fresh thyme and serve warm.
NOTES
To freeze: Bake the casserole completely, then let cool to room temperature. Cover it tightly, then freeze for up to 3 months. Let thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then reheat, covered, in a 350 degree oven until warmed through. You could also try freezing the casserole unbaked. Again, let thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then bake as directed.
