Reports To: Conservatory Executive Director

Work Schedule: Flexible/Part-time

The North Carolina Theatre is accepting resumes for teaching artists to teach in all areas of our programming. We are especially looking for teaching artists who specialize in Musical Theatre Dance as well as Music Directors and Choral teachers. However, we welcome resumes from all theatre disciplines. Citizenship: Foster the next generation of artists and leaders who will become future patrons of the arts through training, performance, and outreach programs.

Programs employed to meet this mission include:

● Mainstage musicals and plays of the highest quality featuring the best of Broadway and local talent.

● Audience and new work development programs engaging all the many communities of the region.

● Education programs and services, through Conservatory training, classes, and in-school education and engagement programs.

North Carolina Theatre’s Conservatory Programming

North Carolina Theatre’s Conservatory program is the robust education department of North Carolina Theatre with four distinct programming pillars: Artistic Training, Summer Theatre Arts School, Creative Engagement for Youth, and Community Engagement.

Through Artistic Training, NCT Conservatory offers comprehensive musical theatre training through our all-in-one classes Triple Threat Training and Pre-Professional Training. Additionally, we offer supplement dance classes and classes for our youngest artists in musical theatre and creative drama Mini-Courses.

Qualifications: Expertise as a teaching artist and mastery in a discipline in music, acting, dance, or applied theatre. Must have ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues, parents, and staff. We are looking for TAs who have skills as both educators and artists with experience teaching in after-school and/or in-school programs, or in community settings. The position may involve local travel to area schools.

Compensation: NCT Teaching Artists are highly valued members of our staff and serve as the ambassadors of our work and mission both onsite and in school and community settings. Teaching Artists are brought in as part-time employees of the company with varied hours and are paid between $15 and $50 per hour depending on project.
