Dear Patrons,

Welcome to The North Carolina Theatre. As the Producing Artistic Director, I am thrilled to share with you this wondrous musical, particularly since the enchanting presence of Mary Poppins has graced my life in many magical ways.

At a young age, my first theatrical experience was attending a local adaptation of Mary Poppins. As a child, this defining moment left an indelible mark on my heart. The storytelling transported me to a world where anything was possible, and my love for theater was ignited. Likewise, Mary Poppins made her cinematic debut in my life during my very first visit to the movie theater, making that experience all the more unforgettable.

As life unfolded, I found myself drawn to the casting world, and fate had something extraordinary in store for me. At Tara Rubin Casting, I was blessed with the incredible opportunity to be a part of the casting process for the Broadway musical and touring productions of “Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins.” Witnessing the creation of such an iconic and beloved production was a dream come true, reaffirming my belief in the transformative power of theater.

The North Carolina Theatre is an organization that has flourished for 39 years thanks to the unwavering support of patrons like you. Now, as we continue to navigate through the ever-changing landscape of the theater industry, I am humbled to be a part of The North Carolina Theatre and share the magic of theater with every one of you, just as Mary Poppins once shared her magic with the Banks family.

We are grateful to be the leading professional regional theatre in North Carolina, and we are committed to delivering Broadway-caliber shows that are not tours but have been crafted just for you, our cherished Raleigh audiences. Now, with pride and gratitude, we bring Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins to you, featuring a cast comprised of Broadway stars, exceptional local artists, a local orchestra, and 11 incredibly talented kids who have all been nurtured through our NCT Conservatory and youth programming.

Our upcoming 40th season, set to begin this December with "Elf, the Musical," is a milestone we eagerly await. It symbolizes a moment of rebirth, a chance to reimagine and reinvent the magic we bring to the stage. We invite you to celebrate this momentous occasion with us, to witness stories that touch your soul and songs that lift your spirit.

As we embark on this new season and embrace the future, I extend my deepest gratitude to each of you for being an integral part of our North Carolina Theatre family. Your unwavering support sustains our passion and fuels our determination to deliver excellence on the stage, season after season.

Thank you for sharing in the magic of theater with us, and we cannot wait to welcome you back to The North Carolina Theatre in October for “Beautiful-the Carole King musical!”

Now let’s go fly a kite.

KIERNAN BASTIEN (Co-Head Properties)

I have been working as a props master in Raleigh for the better part of the last decade. My very first professional props position was with North Carolina Theatre and I am grateful they have given me the opportunity to work on so many amazing shows, including our previous production of Mary Poppins — seemingly a lifetime ago. I would like to thank my parents for supporting my theatrical shenanigans, as well as the members of my cult for being such loyal followers. Also! Thank you to my mentor Aline Johnson for teaching me everything I know, which I mean as a compliment, but I’m sure she’d say, “Don”t blame me for all that!”

TIM DOMACK (Co-Head Properties) has worked several shows with NCT and is super excited to be back!! Tim started his career at GoodSpeed Opera house before building television scenery with Freelance Staging in Winston-Salem. He moved to New York and interned with the Charlotte Wilcox general management company on Broadway. Tim signed on with The Juilliard School in the production props department. He worked with Juilliard for seven years and worked some summers as props coordinator at Central City Opera in CO, Utah Festival Opera, Portland Opera in Maine, and TKTS in Times Square. Tim was also involved with several off Broadway productions including New York Shakespeare in The Park and Trailer Park Musical. Television: Fashion Rocks, CMA’s Live From New York. Locally, Tim has worked several concerts as a stagehand at PNC Arena, Red Hat Amphitheatre, and Walnut Creek Amphitheatre. Tim moved with his wife, Caroline and three kids to Wake Forest where Tim is the Technical Theatre Teacher at Wake Forest High School. He likes to keep active in the professional world working productions with Theatre Raleigh, NCT, Duke Theatre Studies, William Peace University, and many other local theatre companies.
