WHAT’SSTEALINGYOUR ATTENTION(ANDYOUR SUCCESS)?

Key takeaways from Chris Hall, Founder of Hall Personal Fitness

How we spend our time defines our success. Chris Hall, founder of Hall Personal Fitness, delivered a highenergy reminder that time, not money, is our most precious asset.

The big threat? Digital distraction. We check emails every 6 minutes and spend nearly 3 hours a day glued to screens, chasing dopamine hits from notifications and social media.

Chris argues that it’s not time we’re lacking, but rather attention. With a culture obsessed with comfort, we’ve lost the ability to sit with boredom or discomfort. This “comfort creep” is hijacking our focus.

Six strategies to take back control:

1.Turn off notifications – reclaim your brain.

2.Keep your phone out of sight –even in meetings and the bedroom.

3.Time block your day – know where your time goes.

4.Check email intentionally, not constantly.

5.Set rules, not vague intentions –people respect boundaries.

6.Do one hard thing a day –rebuild mental resilience.

Success isn’t in your bank account; it’s in your ability to be present, to choose how you spend your time, and to lead with intention.

The 5 Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom – A fresh framework for thinking beyond just financial success.

The Molecule of More by Daniel Lieberman – A fascinating dive into dopamine, desire, and the drivers of human behaviour.

These resources are ideal for anyone seeking to sharpen their focus, reclaim time, and cultivate a more intentional life. As Chris reminded us, success isn’t about doing more it’s about choosing better.

WHATACTUAL VALUEINYOUR BUSINESS?

Key takeaways from Michael Cousins, Chairman of Triaster

Most businesses focus on what they do, but Michael Cousins challenges us to think differently. At Network & Natter, he walked us through the Process Approach: a simple, powerful method to focus less on activity and more on outputs that create value.

It’s not about how busy you are, it’s about what you deliver. Using everyday examples (including Moscow’s metro!), Michael showed how building a “tube map” of your business processes can help your team deliver consistent value, streamline operations, and reduce time wasted on guesswork or firefighting.

The Process Approach empowers clarity, consistency, and confidence at every level of your business.

Three takeaways to put into practice:

1.Focus on outputs, not just activity.

2.Map your core processes so anyone can follow them.

3.Ask: “If a customer complains, do we know exactly what to do?” If not, start mapping.

Process doesn’t mean bureaucracy. It’s how value gets created again and again. Get it right, and your whole team knows what to do, without needing to ask.

READYFORTHE15SECONDCHALLENGE?

Exclusive offer and resources from Michael Cousins, Chairman of Triaster

At the end of his session, Mike Cousins from Triaster set us a brilliant challenge:

Can you identify who in your organisation is responsible for taking corrective action when a customer complains, without needing to ask anyone, and within 15 seconds?

If not, your organisation could benefit from adopting the Process Approach. To help you get started, Mike and his colleague Giles Green (who also joined us at the event) are offering something special:

Email giles.green@triaster.co.uk and you’ll receive a free ‘Getting Started’ Process Library for up to five users. It will have a selection of process maps ready to go!

AREYOULIV ALIGNMENT PURPOSE?

Key takeaways from Andrew Baud, Founder & CEO of TALA

In a refreshingly personal and grounded talk, Andrew Baud challenged us to rethink leadership not as titles or strategies, but as alignment between who we are, what we do, and the legacy we leave.

He reminded us that true purpose doesn’t come from a buzzword or vision statement it comes from knowing ourselves. Through his own story of setbacks, growth, and selfdiscovery, Andrew demonstrated the power of turning experience into action and hardship into a meaningful contribution.

His call to action was simple and powerful: Find one decision this

Lessons to take away: Reflect on your journey understand your highs and lows, and how they have shaped you. Set courageous goals across the triple bottom line: relationships, reputation, and results. Give back where it matters: internships, mentorship, or causes aligned with your values. Legacy isn’t lofty it’s what you model daily in work, leadership, and life.

Purpose, done right, isn’t performative it’s powerful. Start with yourself.

WHATDAYONEREALLY MEANS—LESSONSFROM THEINSIDEATAMAZON

Key takeaways from Wayne Phillips, Cloud Transformation Consultant

Wayne Phillips has spent decades leading technology transformation at IBM, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). At our Network & Natter event, he pulled back the curtain on what really drives innovation inside some of the world’s most powerful tech giants, and why it always comes back to a “Day One” mindset.

He kicked off with two video clips of Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder, outlining the concept of Day Two: a slow slide into stasis, irrelevance, and eventual decline. “That’s why it’s always Day One,” Bezos said. It’s a principle that shaped the DNA of Amazon and became the throughline of Wayne’s talk.

Wayne shared how Amazon’s culture runs on leadership principles embedded in every decision. Success starts with a clear Vision, Mission, and Goals.

Key takeaways:

Think big. Aim higher than safe. Look around corners. Anticipate what others don’t.

Move fast. Act (two-way doors) or pause (one-way doors).

Create mechanisms – Build repeatable systems, not good intentions.

Final point? Technology doesn’t transform businesses; mindset does. If it’s not Day One, Day Two is coming!
