Thank you for registering your family for The Greater Channel Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.’s Black Family Ski Weekend! Our snowy celebration of Black History Month at Diamond Peak Ski Resort and the Hyatt Regency Hotel Spa & Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada is filled with exciting adventures for you to take with your family during the day. This issue includes the Itinerary for the weekend. We want you to spend the day with your family and your nights with Greater Channel families and extended families.
We are in the business of FAMILY FUN! Consider your ski weekend like a winter camp. We have set up a GCC Grab –N-Go Café to grab morning bites on Saturday. Saturday night we have the Greater Channel Disco Inferno featuring your families in a Soul Train Line Dance-Off! Come dressed in your grooviest 70’s Disco wear.
Sunday we will Celebrate Black history month with our children’s program spotlighting our military service members and veterans.
Families will be able to late register from now through January 30th if there are rooms remaining under the group rate. The King Room and 2 Doubles are discounted to $319 per night (plus tax and report fee of $50 per day). Don’t Delay Register Today! If you think you need an extra day to play in the snow, join us on Thursday! Hyatt has extended the room blocked rate to guests arriving on Thursday. If you would like to arrive on Thursday, please email your request to: nyanzamoore@msn.com no later than Thursday, January 12th . Registration CLOSES on February 1, 2023. After the close or once the room block limit is reached, guests will not benefit from the blocked room rate. We are so excited to open this up to all families ready to celebrate Black History and Black Herstory!

Grab your Greater Channel S'mores Kits distributed upon check-in and join us out by the by the fire. Your family can enjoy your own private fire pit or join the group for s'mores to fellowship together. We plan on making memories that will last a lifetime! Join in the GCC Black Family Sing-along while we warm up by the fire. Don't worry about knowing the lyrics, we'll have them printed for you. Let's Sing-along and Have S'mores, Please!

Hey, Party Over Herte!! Come to the best club for families to party with their kids to 90s Beats. Everybody loves a good theme night. Dress your family for a night at the Greater Channel Disco Inferno!
It's time to cut loose and get your dance moves ready for the Family Soul Train Line Dance-off. If your moves are a little shaky then let your grooves gear boost your confidence. Get busy planning your moves with your crew. It's time for The Greater Channel Soul Train Line Dance-Off! Feeling Romantic? Feel free to drop off the kiddos at the disco and head to a quiet dinner for two or stick around a sweat to the Beats.

The Greater Channel Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, was established in 1994. It has grown over the years through the vision and mission of each of its past Presidents –Glenda Thibeaux (1994-1996), Pat Pellerin (1996-2000), Carolyn McCray (2000-2002), Debra Johnson (2002-2005), Dawana M. Lewis Scott (2005-2006), Cheryl Fleming (2006-2008), Renee Lewis (2008-2010), Barbara Pierce (2010-2012), Melanie Flowers (2012-2014), Paula Harris (2014-2016), Demetra Jones (20162018), Trela Parker (2018-2020), Stacey Frank (2020-2022) and Juantongia Calvin (2022- present).
The Greater Channel Chapter hosted Area Workday (1996), the Regional Mother’s Conference (2005), with other Houston area chapters, the National Convention (2006) and Children’s Cluster in 2013. We hosted Teen Conference in June 2017, the first on a college campus at the University of Houston. In 2019, we celebrated 25 years of making a difference in the lives of children and families. We are proud to have members of Greater Channel that serve and have served Jack & Jill at the area, regional and national levels.
The Greater Channel Chapter Associate Group was formed under the leadership of Mattie Sharp and Barbara Auzenne in 2000.
Jack and Jill boasts 252 chapters nationwide, representing more than 40,000 family members. Each chapter plans annual programming activities guided under a general five point programmatic thrust: cultural awareness, educational development, health (education and advocacy), civic (legislative advocacy and service) and social/recreational areas.
Through service projects, Jack and Jill of America creates a medium of contact for children to stimulate their growth and development. Through lobbying, educational programming, dissemination of education materials, and the organization of community and charitable events, Jack and Jill has promoted the public awareness and interests of children including child development, child growth, child quality of life, child care and the promotion of children’s rights.
