Welcome to the Noro House Term 2 newsletter
This term we can reflect on some outstanding performances across Noro House These include the House Swimming which saw both our KS3 and KS4 Girls achieving 1st place in the competition Back in February we were treated to a wonderful performance by our House Drama team in the PAC which explored the need to make authentic connections with people in an increasingly digitalised world
Beyond house competition our students have engaged in many beyond the curriculum experiences this term such as the DofE Silver Award, Y8 Singapore Student Exchange Trip, FOBISIA Badminton in Thailand and the MUN conference in Singapore It is great to see the Noro students making the most of the opportunities available here at NLCS Jeju and trying themselves out.
In Term 3 our main House Competitions includes Cross Country, House Dance, Sports Day and the Hype Video. We look forward to participating in these events and enjoying the summer weather on the beautiful island of Jeju.
We hope that your enjoy reading the updates of the the past term written by our our student leaders.
Wishing you a wonderful end of term break, we look forward to welcoming you back in April!
House Drama this year was an experience that truly emphasized the importance of communication It was my first time leading the process alone, and I quickly realized that it was impossible to manage all the work by myself. Even if I could, drama is inherently cooperative; I cannot go on stage alone and call it a performance. One of the biggest challenges was articulating my vision to my teammates. Telling them what was in my head was not an easy process. Most of the time, they didn’t fully understand what I meant the first time around. I often had to act things out, provide concrete examples, and adjust my explanations based on their responses Even then, each actor interpreted the characters in their own unique way Surprisingly, their interpretations were often different from what I had initially imagined, but they made the piece even richer This reminded me that creativity flourishes when multiple perspectives come together.
Jason Son (Y8)
House Drama is the house competition that I like the most, as I love acting and standing in front of people on stage. Each year, I look forward to this competition, and I try my best to do well during rehearsals, and of course on the day of the performance as well This year, although we didn’t achieve top results, I believe that our crew was outstanding and that we all tried our best while preparing for the show I believe that we should all be proud of ourselves for pulling out a fantastic performance
Participating in house drama is a good experience for those who are interested in drama, as we write the script by ourselves, and act them out in front of people in the PAC It is a great opportunity for those who are interested in drama, so I hope those of you will be interested and join us next year!
Beyond the actors, the tech crew played a crucial role in transforming my thoughts into reality Lights, sound, and stage design all brought depth to the performance in ways I hadn't anticipated It took constant rehearsals and rounds of feedback to refine everything and ensure that our vision was cohesive. This process taught us the true meaning of teamwork. One of the most rewarding aspects was the dedication everyone showed. Coming to lunchtime and breaktime practices was not easy, especially with all the other responsibilities we had. Yet, we showed up, committed to making our performance the best it could be. Through this, we bonded as a team, supporting one another through the challenges and celebrating each small success.
I also want to express my gratitude to Kevin in Year 12, who came back to Noro to help us. His support and experience were invaluable, and we truly appreciated his willingness to be part of our journey
To next year ’ s leaders, I wish you the best of luck! House Drama is an incredible experience, and I am always happy to help if you ever need support!
Hyoryn Park (Y9)
House Drama was an incredible experience that showcased our teamwork and dedication From rehearsals to the final performance, we grew as a team by supporting each other and overcoming challenges It was inspiring to see everyone contribute their talents, whether in acting, directing, or behind-the-scenes work The experience not only strengthened our house spirit but also created lasting memories and a shared sense of accomplishment I enjoyed doing House drama and feel a great gratitude for other members!
Yuna Kim (Y8)
House Drama was a very meaningful experience to me as we, as students, had a chance to work together from devising it to acting it out Regardless of the fact that everyone lacks in some aspect or another, what was important was that we were one unit, being each other's stepping stone to cover up those aspects and work towards one goal together Furthermore, for me personally, I wasn't a confident performer at first, but over the years I have participated in house drama, the encouragement from people who were part of house drama such the leaders, triggered me to explore more drama in the school and push myself out of my comfort zone
We are proud to introduce our new House Captains for the 25/26 Academic Year.

Hello Noro! I’m Ella Lee, your House Captain for the 2025/2026 academic year I have been a member of Noro since Year 8 and took part in numerous house events, including House Glee, House Dance, and various sports competitions Being part of Noro has always been an incredible experience, but one of my most memorable moments was last year ’ s House Commercial Dance This year, I am excited for another amazing year filled with success, house spirit, and unforgettable moments If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!
We would like to congratulate the students named below on their recent achievement in being selected to represent The Big 8 at NLCS Jeju This is a significant role in our community where students have the opportunity to continue to shape the future of NLCS Jeju, inspire their peers and develop life long skills such as leadership, teamwork and responsibility The students and staff in Noro House are particularly proud that the majority of The Big 8 are members of Noro House. It perhaps isn’t a coincidence that these are the students who led the house in lifting the House Shield in 2024. Not have these students inspired the next generation of Noro students through their Year 11 leadership, but now, through their role in The Big 8. We look forward to being a part of their journey over the next year.

Q. What is your most memorable moment in Noro house?
My most memorable moment in Noro was during the Year 7 Quiz house competition. Since the Year 7 students have only met each other for the first time as they have just come up from junior school, I saw that there was a weaker sense of teamwork between them. But the Quiz show surprised me as this moment proved to me that my tutees have become one I was touched by how my students now learned how to embrace one of the Noro values, teamwork.
During our previous house competitions such as the Drone Dash, I have felt that the students had a lot of divisions and ongoing arguments. But as we entered into Term 2, students were more willing to listen to each other and reach a solution by themselves. I was so proud of my tutees.
Honestly, I couldn’t limit my memorable moment to a single event. More so, my memorable moments have been the last few weeks, when I felt that I finally belonged to this tutor group. At the beginning of this year, my tutees didn’t know a lot about me; they weren’t very vocal and it was difficult to encourage them to engage in activities in the mornings. But lately, my tutees have been more open towards me They have been sharing their struggles, exciting moments and ups and downs not only related to Noro house itself, but along their academic journeys as well Now their stories are not only inside them, but also inside me, as they are willing to take me with them. I am glad that I could support them more actively, and this makes me very happy – to be part of Noro and feel like I have finally become a Noro tutor.
Woojin Jang and Dahye Lim
Following the new core values of Noro Fearlessness, Teamwork, and Resilience the members of Noro have demonstrated their unparalleled talent in sports Including Y10 Dodgeball and Y11 Football, Noro secured first places in various sports house competition, proving themselves strong.
Even though the start of the year had been challenging and somewhat disappointing for Noro compared to our past performances, Noro has been catching up or even surpassed most houses in recent sports competitions.
Accordingly, we want to attribute these wonderful results to every single members of Noro. Sports is never a single-playing game. Even with sports such as Tennis or Table Tennis, players cannot perform at their very best without the support of their teammates. We truly appreciate not only the players who have showcased their exceptional athleticism, but also those who enthusiastically supported and cheered for their peers from the sidelines. Without your spirit and encouragement, these achievements wouldn’t have been possible. Once again, thank you Noro.
However, the journey of Noro this year is yet to be finished. There are still plenty of sports house competitions ahead and most importantly, the Sports Day is coming up We all know that it is our time to shine, so let’s keep up the great work.

This week in Noro was filled with fearlessness, resilience, and teamwork On Friday, Year 10s took a big step forward, delivering speeches for the house captain elections. Standing in front of the entire house to share their vision showcased immense fearlessness and determination towards the house

Chloe Kim and YJ Yoo
This term has been another busy one, especially for other year groups, as Year 11 students were away for our mock exams. Despite our absence, I was truly impressed by everyone ' s dedication in giving their best and making sacrifices for the team. With this, I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you for your efforts.
In general, from Year 7 to Year 11, this term was successful than the previous term winning more house competitions and truly showing who we are Starting from KS3 swimming with first place as well as Y7 chess, Y8 esports, and Y11 football. Moreover, second place in the Y8 quiz, Y10 giant word search, and Y10 mathletics. Finally, third place in the Y7 quiz, Y9 puzzle race, Y9 table tennis, and Y10 basketball.
Even though Noro is known to be strong in sports, this term was a time where we could showcase a broad spectrum of talents beyond our established athletic strengths As a house captain, I truly believe that more than winning, it is important that you enjoy and experience something new, building up friendships and strengthening teamwork all at the same time
Thank you all for making this term so memorable. Have a wonderful and restful break!
As Chloe mentioned above, our achievements this term were indeed outstanding But beyond the results, I hope there was a moment of highlight in Noro which each one of you can cherish in the future. Whether it be stepping up to a new competition or challenging yourself to achieve the best possible, I believe without doubt that this term would have been a source of inspiration and courage for most of you Try to remember that moment, that highlight, and let’s strive towards the opportunities that await us - together.
