James Choisung ParkY11:
Hyeopjae out-going Home Leader
“The time has finally arrived, and I am saying farewell to the Hyeopjae boarding home as the last captain for Hyeopjae. On my first day in Hyeopjae back in 2021, I never thought I would become the leader of this entire cohort. Reflecting on my last four years at Hyeopjae, every single moment with my peers and staff members was special and memorable, which all accumulated to shape and mould my character. And being a home captain, I realised the true value of ‘holding responsibilities’: sometimes it might be burdensome and pressuring but at the end of the day, it pays off by laying foundation for my personal growth, which also helped me to land on leadership positions for the organisations in and out of the school. To come to the closing remarks, even though we will no longer have Hyeopjae Home within our campus, I believe that the spirits, legacies, and experiences we embodied over the last four years will carry on and last forever. And I can assure all of you that next year’s leadership team will do a fantastic job leading the house to a brighter and better future.“

Howie (Haoyi) Zhang:
Hyeopjae interim Home Leader (for this term).
Aewol/Hyeopjae Well-Being leader nextYear.
“When I first heard the news about being the well-being vice-captain of Aewol, my emotions can be summarised in one word: elation. I have always wanted to achieve a similar position in the past, always idolizing the year 11 presence. It is almost hard to describe the emotion that I have in realizing that now, it has finally been my turn. Well-being in itself has always been something that is usually underappreciated and one of the more multifaceted roles in the boarding house leadership team. However, in my opinion, it is the role that bears the most responsibility out of any other parts of the leadership team.As a well-being captain, it is my responsibility to ensure that students are both healthy and happy, receiving the emotional support that they need. I look forward to collaborating with other members of the Aweol leadership team and to improving the overall quality of life for the boarding students.”

Thailand Forbisia Golf Trip
“Few weeks ago, me,Yoonu and some other friends went for a trip toThailand for Golf Fobisia. It was really hard to get up early at 4A.M. to go to the airport, and it was really hot weather inThailand when we arrived. However, Golf Fobisia was a really good experience for me to develop not only my skills but also my mentality and sportsmanship. Moreover, I made a few friends during the competition and it was really good to know about those who are living in different

Thailand Forbisia Badminton trip

“This academic semester, I was selected to represent our school in the U15 Fobisia Badminton, which took place from March 20th-22nd at SISB (Thailand). It was a very enriching experience for both me and my teammates.Although the tournament didn’t go the way we wanted, we still persevered and fought against the great challenges that we faced. Lastly, this trip was unforgettable, as I made lifelong friends, and will work hard to hopefully win next year.”

“The MUN trip to Singapore truly is an everlasting experience for me. We visited iconic landmarks such as the Merlion Park and the Gardens at the Bay, admiring Singapore’s beautiful night scenery, as well as visiting Chinatown. I believe all of those memorable moments will forever be remembered. However, more importantly, the chance of experiencing a country with such a diversity of culture and background greatly helps widen up my perspectives, especially how different cultures interact and integrate into each other. The MUN conference itself went very smoothly, and I got to meet people coming from all over the world, including those coming from Japan and Cambodia, interacting and talking with them. Lastly, I just want to express my gratitude to both Mr Moore and Ms Park for making this trip possible, and making it one of the best 4 days I ever had.”

Seogwipo World Cup Stadium Trip
“My favourite and most memorable trip this term was going to Seogwipo World Cup Stadium with my friends in boarding homes. We had many options of where to go for the trip, but I could see lots ofYear 9 students choosing to go watch a football game since one of the biggest interests is football, and so is mine.As a whole, year 9s often play football together as a group especially during weekends but it felt new for me to watch a professional game in a big stadium with my friends. Even though Jeju United lost the game, it was a great trip to have fun with my friends. And also, I bought the Jeju United uniform in the shop, which was great. I hope we visit there again soon.”

“The favorite part of boarding in term 2 was the boarding trip where all the borders went to 서귀포 city. Even though I went to the cafe and was watching anime the whole time, I saw a great view during the walk to the cafe, and the weather was also good.”

“The second best part of boarding is that you can use the sportshall whenever you want and I was there for about every hour a day and was enjoying the activities that were available in the sports hall. I kind of enjoyed the Saturday boarding activities where we got to stay together with everyone in the boarding house.”

Battle of the Bands: Hyeopjae

Battle of the Bands winners
I have recently done the Battle of the Bands which was the competition among 5 boarding houses after the Boarding assembly with our wonderful Hyeopjae students. It was the first ever event to select the best group of boarding students who performed specific songs with vocals and instruments. For me, it was also the first time to organise the practice time and lead the students until the performance day which made me quite unsure that we will be able to show our full potential on the stage. However, thankfully, they were highly committed with great attention. I truly felt proud of them as they followed my feedback and vigorously attempted to improve their performance continuously even working outside of scheduled practices. Because of their passion and dedication, we successfully completed our performance with a song “Never Ending Story” by Boohwal, and won first place. The aim of this event was not only to pick out outstanding performers in terms of music, but also to provide precious opportunities for students in different age groups to collaborate with each other and cherish the moment when we proudly show to the audience what we have been preparing for.
