WelcomeMessage

We’ve had a fantastic start to the year atYongduam Boarding Home, filled with energy, new faces, and the return of familiar ones. Our four Junior boarders bring great enthusiasm to the house, and our new secondary students have settled in wonderfully, adding to our vibrant community.

This term has been packed with highlights from theYongduam Rock excursion and Boarder’s Fun Day to our Home BBQ and team-building activities, all helping to strengthen friendships and build our sense of community.

We’re fortunate to have our dedicatedAssistant Boarding Masters, Mr Coldwell and Mr Whitehorn, continuing with us this year, alongside returning staffAndrew and Victor, whose support is invaluable. We’re also delighted to welcome Josh Holland as our new GraduateAssistant, returning toYongduam after previously serving as a Gap Student.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to helping each of our boys grow in resilience, independence, and leadership. Follow our Instagram page to see the many memorable moments we share throughout the year as well as the weekend schedule..

Hello! My name is Victor Castillo Madrigal, and I’m from Mexico. I recently graduated with my master’s degree and am currently in my first year working in Yongduam and in the KS3 Science and Biology Department. I’m also involved in CCAs such as baseball, table tennis, and robotics. I’m passionate about education; it’s incredibly rewarding to witness students growth and improvement every day. I plan to pursue teaching training next year to further enhance my skills.

Hello, my name is Josh Holland, and I am from England. I joinedYongduam this year and currently work in the Sports Department. I am a returning member of the team, having previously worked at NLCS Jeju in 2019. Since then, I graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a degree in Sport Science and have published research in the field. I am passionate about supporting students in discovering and developing their potential.Additionally, I am an avid sports enthusiast and enjoy exploring new sports whenever possible.

Hello! My name isAndrew Galvin and I’m from London. I arrived atYongduam at the end of September and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know everyone!After living in Edinburgh for five years studying Music and Sound Design, I am now working in the Music department here at NLCS. My passion lies in composing and creating soundtracks for film in addition to singing and playing the Bassoon and Piano. In my spare time, I love to play football and am a big Everton fan.

YongduamPrefects

Yongjae Ahn - House Captain

Yongjae is currently house captain of Yongduam boarding house. He oversees the events and all the activities happening in our boarding home. He is diligent and responsible in his duty, being as a role model student for other students in our boarding home.

Mason (Yul) Shim - House Media Prefect

Mason is the media prefect for Yongduam boarding house. He manages the Instagram posts and stories, sharing memorable moments and important updates. His role helps represent the boarding house’s values to the school and beyond.

Noah (Kyudo) Kim - House Academic Prefect

Noah is the academic prefect for Yongduam boarding house. He supports students with academic resources, organizes study groups, and promotes a positive learning environment within the house.

Junhui Yang - House Well-being Prefect

Junhui serves as the House well-being prefect, responsible for promoting physical and mental well-being within the Yongduam boarding house. He provides support to house members and shares resources that encourage a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Daniel (Hyeokjin) Kim - House Environment Prefect

Daniel is currently in charge of overseeing house environmental concerns. He seeks to bring a remedy for house waste littering problems. Also, he delicately perseveres to change students’ thinking about separating the collection of waste.

Sunu Kim - House Sports and Events Prefect

Sunu is our home’s sports and events prefect. With his extensive knowledge on different kinds of activities and sports, he plans the evening activity for our yongduam boarding home. Sunu manages to thrive positive emotions throughout our Yongduam community.

BattleoftheBeaches

This year marks the launch of Battle of the Beaches — a friendly and inclusive boarding home competition featuring events like basketball, football, baking, dodgeball, theAmazing Race, and a grand finale Battle of the Bands. With basketball already complete, we’re now looking forward to the festive Christmas Bake-Off next!
