As the summer draws near and the sun starts to shine on Jeju, we say farewell to our graduating class, and sadly, two members of our Halla North boarding community. Mr. Park leaves us after four years of outstanding pastoral support for our boarding students and Myles (our graduate assistant) is also moving on to pastures new. We wish them every success in the future and hope that they take with them good memories in Jeju and especially in Halla North.
This year, we focused on student wellbeing and promoting mindfulness in our boarding students. We introduced Year 12 to ‘The Daily Calm’ meditation, hiked the Yeongsil trail, had a wonderful Christmas party and began preparing them for life after Halla North with the ‘outduction’ program. Our Year 13 developed life skills, basic medical knowledge, and how to take care of themselves while living in a foreign country. We hope that they have benefitted from these sessions and will find them useful as they embark upon their university adventures.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this year in Halla North, getting to know the new Year 12 and continuing to develop my relationships with Year 13. I have been blown away by the university offers that our boys have received and the maturity and dedication shown by the Year 12s. I look forward to the next academic year and welcoming a new group of boys to Halla North and preparing our current Year 12 for what will be a busy time.
Have a wonderful summer, take care and stay safe.
The North Remembers.
To the Halla Boys in the Class of 2025, Congratulations and always remember... The North Remembers
Some of the Year 12 boarders went into Jeju City for some well-deserved relaxation and fun. They went to cafes, the trampoline park, and ate some delicious food
After their IB exams, the Y13s took some time to unwind and participated in a 10k run
The Year 12 and Year 13 boarders who were never late throughout the year had a chicken and pizza party
Research shows that quality sleep is crucial for students' success. A good night’s sleep is the best preparation for a busy school day.
Due to ongoing issues with lateness and sleep discipline, we are implementing stricter sanctions.
At Halla North, we emphasize healthy sleep habits to support learning and well-being. Throughout the year, we have focused on addressing sleep deficits affecting punctuality. We continue to promote sleep discipline and introduce effective sleep strategies.
Morning lateness will result in lost privileges and an evening sanction.
Repeated offenses will lead to further consequences, with parents informed.
Late students will study downstairs to complete homework efficiently, allowing more sleep at night.
We hope these measures improve punctuality and promote healthy sleeping habits.
