Patients get more than a change in their appearance...they get a change in their attitude and approach to life! When patients love their bodies, they take joy in eating less and moving more. ow many years have you avoided looking in the mirror or ducked for cover when someone pulled out a camera? You can recover your life through the skill and artistry of Dr. Ahmadi of Avante Plastic Surgery. He says, “We’ll do an evaluation, discuss your options, and get you all the information you need. If you decide on my signature procedure, the Lipotuck™, you’ll get the benefits of both a tummy tuck and liposuction...and your recovery time will be the same as if you’d had just one!” Think about the time you’ve lost worrying about the way you look. If the only thing keeping you from committing to a new body is fear of the unknown, Dr. Ahmadi is the perfect choice for you. Only doctors like Dr. Ahmadi who are board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery are recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to provide all aspects of cosmetic surgery. He says, “I’ve been doing this so many years that I find we have everything in place down to all the fine details. When patients are educated and equipped with lists of what to do and what not to do, it gives both us of peace of mind. I’ve done the Lipotuck™ literally thousands of times, but for each of them it’s their first experience. Seeing it through their eyes keeps it fresh for me and means I take my time to answer their questions...even before they ask them!”
After your Lipotuck™, you can usually return to your desk job in two weeks, but your body will take at least six weeks to heal...as it would from any surgery. Dr. Ahmadi says, “The biggest mistake people make is being too eager to return to exercise, but you absolutely must heal first. You don’t need to be sedentary (in fact, it’s better if you’re not) but you mustn’t jump into things. There’s really no way to expedite the healing...but there’s plenty you can do to delay it and prolong your recovery. My best advice is to trust your doctor and take care of yourself... because you’ll find the results are worth the wait!” You know that “pooch” around your tummy or those “handles” at your sides? The Lipotuck™ is designed to tighten, smooth, and shape all of that into beautiful, natural curves just where you want them. Once you’ve got the figure of your dreams, you’ll have the jumpstart you need for a healthy future. “After the Lipotuck™,” says Dr. Ahmadi, “patients get more than a change in their appearance...they get a change in their attitude and approach to life! When patients love their bodies, they take joy in eating less and moving more. That’s why I’m in this profession. Your health and well-being are my highest priorities...because you deserve to look and feel beautiful for years to come!”

When Back to School Isn’t Easy…
t’s September and the kids are back into the swing of things at school! Or are they? Betsy de Vega, Learning Specialist and founder of the Kn.I.L.E. Center says, “The first couple weeks of school are an adjustment period. Kids are getting to know their new teachers, classmates and schedules…but most of the work is review. If your child already feels overwhelmed or is falling behind, it may be time for extra, individualized support.” Recently voted “BEST Tutoring Program in Fort Bend County 2013” by Living Magazine, EduCoachNow is the cornerstone tutoring program offered by the Kn.I.L.E Center. “What sets EduCoachNow apart from traditional tutoring programs,” says Betsy, “is that we really focus on strengthening cognitive skills--the critical skills for learning--while incorporating what your child is working on at school. Because the program is customized and one-on-one, it works for students of varied learning abilities.”
And the proof is in the success of the kids in the program! Sally enrolled both of her children more than two years ago to supplement their educational needs. Sally’s son is on the autism spectrum and her daughter has been diagnosed with both ADHD and anxiety. “My children struggle with learning issues related to their difficulties,” says Sally, “but Betsy and her team help them become successful and confident. Most importantly, the learning is always fun… and as a professional educator that’s key to me! I can definitely see the improvement that the tutoring sessions have provided during the school year!” Kn.I.L.E. Center is also home to Kn.I.L.E. Prep Academy—a boutiquestyle school for students of all learning abilities--servicing students grades 3 through 12.

Having the kids home over the break takes a toll on your house’s cleanliness. Professional Maid Service is here to get your house back to its pre-summer state. Max McCammond, owner of Professional Maid service, says, “Summers can be hectic and housecleaning can get overlooked. We believe mom and dad deserve to enjoy a clean house, without any hassle at all! Between keeping them occupied and busy, and getting yourself to work everyday you don’t really have time to tidy up. While mom is away, the kids will play. After you leave for work in the morning who knows what kind of mess is accumulating back home? By the time you get off, you may not have the energy to divvy up the chores between kids. Next Stop...St. Michael’s!
Tales from the ER: Constable A.J. Dorr Sarah Warburton
ince he started with the Houston Police Department in 1977, A.J. Dorr has been making our world a safer place. In 1997 (after ten years as the Chief of Police in Needville) he was elected by the people of Precinct 1 to represent them as their Constable. Constable Dorr says, “When I started having back pain in November, I tried to power through, but one day in January the pain was awful...so I went to St. Michael’s Emergency Room. Let me tell you, I’ve been to my share of hospitals and emergency rooms since, and you can’t beat St. Michael’s!” “They brought me back quickly for my exam. The doctor on duty ordered an x-ray...and then he followed it with a CT scan. I could tell from the look on his face that he didn’t like what he saw. He told me he didn’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but there were some suspicious shadows around my spine and he strongly recommended I go the very next day to a doctor to do an MRI. He pointed out some potential problems around my heart and really stressed that I shouldn’t wait around. Then he gave me some pain medication to
help me make it through the night. Well, I felt better the next day and like a typical man I put it off for a couple of weeks. Then I woke up doubled over with pain.”
“Of all the doctors I’ve had, I’ll never forget that first one at St. Michael’s. He spent his time talking me through the results of the tests and gave me the wakeup call I needed. If you’ve been thinking that ‘bigger is better,’ don’t let the size of St. Michael’s fool you. They’re bigger on the inside and they’re damn good.” “Turns out, I had renal cell cancer. I saw a lot of doctors after that! They took my right kidney, put a stent in my heart, fused my back and pinned my hip and put me through chemo and physical therapy. Throughout the whole process, Dr. Orsak of St. Michael’s kept checking in with me

When Constable Dorr’s insurance tried to claim that since the diagnosis was cancer, it wasn’t an emergency, we went to bat for him. The state of Texas has adopted “the prudent layperson standard”...so if you think your symptoms are serious enough to go to an emergency room, then that constitutes an emergency. If you’re in pain, come in and let our doctors make the diagnosis...because it’s not the insurance’s job to make life and death medical decisions. Who Wins a Car?
Sarah Warburton Sarah Warburton ou could win a car...just ask Monette Insani, Chad Meadows, and Melinda Rains, a few winners of Classic Chevy’s Free Car Monthly Giveaway. Chad says, “I heard Don on the radio talking about the giveaway, so I signed up online. When Classic Chevy called a few weeks later, I thought it was a sales thing...then I recognized Don’s voice! He said, ‘You won a car. What do you think your wife will say?’ I told him, ‘She’ll think I’m lying or crazy!’ I sweettalked her into coming with me to the dealership. Later I found out another winner hadn’t even been able to convince his wife to come pick the car up! My wife needed a new car, so I offered the Spark to her with one condition...I couldn’t have my name on the title to a pink car! Luckily, she settled for lime green. The car was completely free, and we traded in her old, hail-damaged car to upgrade the stereo and navigation. Everyone was so friendly and down-toearth...they seemed really excited for us. We’re saving to buy a house, so the timing couldn’t have been better! We live in
a skeptical age, but I received no marketing emails, no pressure, nothing. Enter this contest and if you get a call from Classic Chevy...pick up the phone!” Monette says, “When I went online to check the used car inventory at Classic Chevy and saw the online ad for the contest, I thought, ‘Well, I’ve got nothing to lose!’ I didn’t tell anyone, not even my husband, that I’d entered...because seriously, nobody wins a car! Then on April Fool’s Day Don and Mark called to tell me I’d won a Chevy Sonic. I was shaking and in absolute shock and it took me quite a while to explain it all to my husband. We’ve got three kids, so we loaned the new car to my daughter. She is almost seventeen and I feel so much better knowing she’s got a good car to drive. Now I tell everyone at work and all my Facebook friends to enter the contest!” Melinda says, “When I heard Jerry Reynolds, the Car Pro, talk about the car giveaway on 740 Talk Radio, I thought, ‘Nobody ever wins these things’...but I kept re-entering every month. Then the first week in August, Mark gave me a
call. I was on vacation to see Graceland, so I didn’t pick up my phone or call him back...honestly, I thought it was a sales call! Once I was home, he told me I’d won a Chevy Spark. I could just fill out the paperwork and drive away or apply the cost of the Spark towards another vehicle. My husband and I are saving to buy a business and the bank told us not to do anything that might change our credit rating...so winning a car was a blessing! I chose the Silver Spark and I just love it. I use it to commute to work from Pinehurst into Houston and the Spark gets great gas mileage...and it’s so cute! All my family is ecstatic. My dad keeps saying how proud he is of me and I say, ‘Dad, all I did was spend two minutes online. That’s all it takes to win a car!’” Classic Chevrolet Sugar Land 281-491-9000 13115 Southweswt Freewaym Sugar Land, TX 77478 www.classicchevysugarland.com

Dana says, “Speech and language disorders affect more than the noise level in a classroom. Children with communication disorders often don’t perform at grade level... and the sooner you take action, the better it is for your child!” All those little quirks that seem so cute at home can make your child hard to understand at school. Difficulty pronouncing sounds may make it harder for your child to read out loud in the classroom and more difficult for a teacher to assess his or her ability. Jason says, “Just like an adult, a child who can’t communicate easily can feel frustrated, depressed, or embarrassed. We want to unlock that communication and let kids really express themselves!” What’s the difference between speech therapy in school and speech therapy at Speech Therapy Unlimited? Jason says, “Dana and I have worked in schools, hospitals, and assisted living communities... but we believed we could see better results more quickly if we designed our own program and bucked the status quo. Now we place speech therapists in daycares, schools, rehab centers, and senior centers, and one-on-one targeted speech therapy allows us to tailor a program specifically for your child. We’ll work with the whole family, so you can incorporate the strategies we develop into your daily life. And we’ll celebrate every milestone...because we believe kids take ownership of the speech therapy work they do.” Make sure that when your child has something to say, the world will listen. DIY Plumbing: What to Know to Avoid Disaster
here are some things you can “learn by doing” and then there are the jobs that need a true professional. You can paint your own walls, you can replace a doorknob, maybe you can even switch out the flapper in your toilet...but once you start talking about “DIY-ing” your plumbing and messing with your pipes, you’re heading for trouble! That’s why do-ityourselfers all over Fort Bend know to call the team from Alan’s Plumbing! The internet’s a great help when you’re looking for a new recipe for dinner or trying to get directions for a road trip. But if you’ve got a wrench in one hand and an iPad in the other, you could be closer than you know to an in-home flooding situation. Seventeen years of experience makes Alan’s Plumbing Fort Bend County’s area experts. They are a family owned and operated company dedicated to providing quality service to their community at affordable prices. Plumbing issues can be an easy fix, but not always! Pipes and drains can get confusing and if the problem isn’t as minor as you think then the price for repair can get really high. Start by calling Alan’s Plumbing and you could save serious money in the long run!
Even professionals who deal with tiles or bathroom fixtures call a licensed plumber for that part of a bathroom renovation. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is admit you need someone else for the job. Put down the tools, pick up the phone, and call 281-261-1064. Jennifer or Alan’s mom can talk you through cutting off the water at the source or the main, then they’ll send someone out with the know-how and experience to fix the problem. If your problem turns out to be major they have professionally trained master plumbers, like Alan, who can handle any plumbing disaster. Not only are their rates fair but they are friendly, thorough, and get the job done. Even a minor plumbing fix can turn into a plumbing disaster if your pipes are old are damaged. When in doubt, it’s always better to have a professional assess the situation.

Sarah Warburton aybe nobody’s staying up ‘til midnight or throwing a wild party, but the start of a new school year is reason for celebration. Now that the kids aren’t underfoot anymore, take a look at the carpet in your home. How much damage did it suffer last summer? Renee McKelvey of All About Carpet and Floors says, “Now that my two boys are grown, they help provide new flooring to families and clean and restore carpets...but I remember how hard it was when they were younger to find carpet that could stand up to all they put it through. Whether you want to do some rescue work on your existing carpet or replace it with
stand behind the products they offer. In fact, they boast the lowest manufacturer claim rate in the industry!” Did you think you had to choose between a carpet that was lusciously soft and one that was tough and durable? Shaun says, “Now Stainmaster has developed a carpet called TruSoft™; it’s the softest, silkiest carpet imaginable! Tuftex has introduced a collection of carpets made of this TruSoft™ nylon, so you can get carpet that’s beautiful and practical.” If you have an open floor plan house, your carpet needs to coordinate with the tile in your kitchen, the hardwood in your dining room, or the granite of your counters. Renee says, “We’re especially sensitive to choosing materials that work with each other, because we sell and install wood, laminate, tile, stone, and carpet. A nice added bonus to the Tuftex line is that they offer color palettes that complement and coordinate with stone, ceramic, and hardwood. You can create a transitional look between indoors and outdoors, get a tailored, cosmopolitan, or traditional style, knowing your carpet will add to the overall look of your home. Design and advice are just part of the service we offer in our showroom!” Ready to celebrate the kickoff of a new school year with a new look for your home? ccording to the National Council on Aging, one in three serious “slip and fall” accidents for adults 65+ happen in the bathroom...and falls are behind 90 percent of hip fractures. Jonee and Paul Barnett of Miracle Method Surface Restoration say, “In addition to changing the look of your surfaces, we can also make them safer through the ‘miracle’ of our slip-resistant surface restoration, Easy Step®, and Safety Package.” National hotel chains and resorts turn to the Miracle Method for more beautiful bathrooms, and they also trust the Miracle Method to limit slip and fall accidents. When our local Marriott Westchase was concerned about slippery tubs, they immediately called on Paul and Jonee. Miracle Method applied a slip resistant surface to every tub––600 of them!–– and both guests and hotel management enjoyed peace of mind. Like all Miracle Method finishes, it’s easy to clean, won’t discolor or peel, and can be applied in any color in less than a day. Safe, beautiful, and easy...the perfect combination! At the Miracle Method showroom, you can see for yourself what makes the Easy Step® so easy. Paul says, “The Easy Step® conversion creates a 24-inch wide by 9-inch tall notch to change your existing tub into a walkin tub with or without a door. Our team gets the job done in less than a day...and if you save your cut-out, the process is completely reversible.” One of the best things you can do for yourself or a loved one is the Miracle Method’s Safety Package. Jonee says, “This package includes the one-day installation of the Easy Step® conversion for porcelain, steel, fiberglass or acrylic tubs, two ADA approved safety grab bars, and a slip-resistant surface applied to the bottom of the tub. Addition options include a curved shower rod, a hand-held shower nozzle, a tub chair... and of course we can always change the color of your tub and tile with our proven Miracle Method process!” Don’t wait until a fall happens. Safe and beautiful surfaces are only one easy step away. Jonee and Paul say, “Call for your free estimate and in a few days we’ll give you a room that looks like new...and is safer, too!”

t HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, they know that it’s not hip to be square...it’s hip to care about your patients! That’s why they underwent the strenuous process to earn certification with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare (JCAHO) for Disease Specific Accreditation for Hip Fractures. Bindu Varghese, Director of Therapy Operations at HealthSouth Sugar Land, says, “The title’s a mouthful, but what it really means is that we now have special training in treating our hip fracture patients. This is our second certification with the Joint Commission, our first being our disease specific certification in stroke. Throughout the eight month process all the disciplines at our facility pulled together, receiving special training, getting special order sets and equipment. Now everyone is even more skilled in treating hip fracture patients...and we love to

offer you our best!” “Most of our hip fracture patients come to us just a couple of days after surgery. The first thing we have to do is get their pain under control so they can begin the process of recovery. Our training program really raised awareness, so that now over ninety percent of our patients have their hip fracture pain well-controlled.” “More than 90 percent of hip fractures result from a fall in the home. We wanted to get to the root of the problem, so we really put our Fall Prevention Program on overdrive. When a patient arrives at HealthSouth, we assess them to find out how they fell and tailor their treatment to that challenge. For example, if the fall occurred in the bathroom, the therapist may gear the program to include bathroom safety. This entire Hip Fracture Certification process has been a blessing. We’ve seen a dramatic decrease in the falls rate for our patients since we began aggressively combating the problem!” “We also have a Falls Prevention Class that’s open to the community. If you or a loved one have fallen at home, two of our therapists––PT Kimberly Johnson and OT Christy Burrows––will walk you through safety tips and precautions including safe transfers in and out of the
tub and car, adequate lighting, and removal of hazards like throw rugs. We offer the program on the last Thursday of every month at 1pm...and we hope you’ll join us!” “Our entire hospital presented a united front...the team was really amazing. We’ve got the kind of people who really love a challenge and they were all on board, eager and involved, ready to do the work. That’s part of the culture here at HealthSouth. Our nurses, therapists, and everyone love what we do and we strive to be the best... because we know our patients deserve it!” HealthSouth Sugar Land Rehabilitation Hospital 281-276-7574 1325 Highway 6 Sugar Land, TX 77478 www.healthsouthsugarland.com

When Weeds Attack F
or some of us September is more than the back-to-school and start-of-football season... it can be the start of sneezing and wheezing, snuffling and coughing, headaches and exhaustion. “Most cases of hay fever are caused by an allergy to ragweed pollen,” says Dr. Jeffery Alford of Sugar Land Wellness and Weight Loss, “and September is the height of ragweed season...with all of October and part of November still to come. That’s why we offer Adrops, a shot-free solution to free yourself from allergy symptoms.” If you suffer from allergies, little granules of ragweed pollen send your immune system into overdrive. Dr. Alford explains, “Your body reacts to allergens like an attack with swelling, mucus, and tears...but ragweed, pollen, pet dander, and other allergens won’t go away. Adrops build up a blocking antibody to keep your immune system from ‘overreacting’ to the allergen...and that reduces your symptoms! Just one or two drops under your tongue each day for two years will build up the good blocking antibody (IgG)...and it remains in your immune system to fight your allergies for years to come.” Your body’s first reaction to allergens like ragweed is massive histamine production...and that means inflammation, sneezing, watery eyes, and misery! When over-the-counter antihistamines and nasal sprays give you side effects instead of relief, you need a better solution. “First,” says Dr. Alford, “I’ll test you for up to sixty of the most common allergens...because we’ll used those very allergens to desensitize your body. You can take your Adrops at home on your own schedule...no needles needed!” In the fall you should enjoy walking your dog in the park, accepting a bouquets of wildflowers (or pretty weeds) from your daughter, or sitting on the patio in the evening. “I don’t want any of my patients to see the world through a veil of tears,” says Dr. Alford. “Too often I find patients have been living with exhaustion and headaches or trying to self-medicate with over-the-counter antihistamines with side effects like dry mouth, drowsiness, or excitability. I hate to tell you this, but ragweed season will keep coming back...so let’s find you a solution that will last!” “How you feel is a reflection of your health. When patients tell me they’ve got no energy, can’t lose weight, and just don’t feel like themselves, I pay attention. We’ll run some tests and I’ll talk you through the results. Dragging around and feeling low is your body’s way of telling you something’s wrong. Whatever the problem, I pledge to treat my patients like family and offer solutions for a happy, healthy life!” Sugar Land Wellness and Weight-loss 832-494-7469 • 16651 SW Fwy #100 • www.sugarlandwellness.net

T DO YOUR KIDS BEG YOU TO GO TO THE DENTIST? Amy Sharp
hink that’s impossible? It’s not! “You should always choose a pediatric dentist for your child,” says Dr Bianca Sanchez at Little People’s Dentistry, “much like you choose a pediatrician for your child’s medical health. There are lots of reasons… but most importantly we are FUN!” Pediatric dentists have an additional two to three years of specialized training after dental school and are dedicated to the oral health of children--from infancy through the teenage years. Dr. Sanchez says, “As pediatric dentists, we know the drill when it comes to kids…we learn how to deal with the peculiar behavioral aspects of children, how to make them feel comfortable, and how to make the experience pleasant. Plus we are trained and qualified to treat special needs patients.” Why is the motto at Little People’s Dentistry “Because Kidz Are People, Too?” Because Dr. Sanchez knows kids don’t want to sit in a over-sized dental chair and feel threatened by adult-sized dental tools. “Kids aren’t tiny adults and they have their own special dental needs. We consider their feelings and how best to examine them,” says Dr. Sanchez. “At check-ups, your child will start by deciding whether they want a
pink flamingo or zebra Zooby dental brush. Then they get to choose from a variety of toothpaste flavors…like vanilla ice cream and chocolate!” With special tools like Mr. Whistle, Mr. Bumpy, and Mr. Thirsty…plus digital x-rays, the option of sedation, movies, boardwalk prizes, squirt toys, kooky glasses and balloons …your child will be begging you to go to the dentist! Kids can tell right away that Little People’s Dentistry is all about them. There’s a hopscotch painted on the floor, an arcade by the exam room, and a “clown” that inflates balloons. And there are parent perks too! At Little People’s Dentistry, you can request an appointment for your little one online…and choose to get appointment reminders via text, email, or phone. Dr. Sanchez says, “When I chose to go the extra mile to become a pediatric dentist, I did it because I love kids! I don’t want your children to be scared of me…I want them to beg to come back again and again!” Little People’s Dentistry “Because Kidz Are People, Too.” 281-261-0020 4706 Riverstone Blvd., Suite 200 (behind Kohl’s in Riverstone) www.LittlePeoplesDentistry.com

How to Find the Perfect Home Amy Sharp
o you dream of your perfect house, but just can’t find it in the neighborhood where you want to live? Ever wanted to see the potential of a house before you buy it? “Five years ago our family was expanding and we were searching for a bigger home,” says REDU founder and licensed architect Melissa Skovdal. “I became disenchanted with homes that were presented as ‘updated’… because as an architect I knew it would take much more to make those houses into the home my family needed.” Following the birth of her fourth child, Melissa left the large, international architecture firm she’d been with for over a decade to stay closer to home. “I decided to take my passion for creative home design to the place I saw the greatest unanswered need. REDU takes my design experience and puts it right in the middle of people’s house hunts!” How does it work? REDU (Real Estate + Design Union) becomes part of your real estate team! Our trained ‘design eye’ can tell if a house has the ‘good bones’ to potentially meet every item on your wish list.” Give REDU the go-ahead and the design plans with 3D images (both interior and exterior) of what it would take to turn a house into your ideal home are delivered within 48 hours! Melissa says, “Time is crucial. We want you to know exactly what the renovations will be before you make an offer so that you can buy with full confidence!” From that point forward, you do what fits your family. Melissa says, “Some clients renovate right after closing…and we help with contractors, permits, etc. Other do-it-yourselfers take the plans and will work through them in their free time.” Sound great but you’re not in the market to buy? Melissa says, “It works the same with the renovation of your current home! We help you re-imagine your house the way you’ve always needed and wished it could be!”
A life-long resident of Sugar Land and Texas A&M graduate, Melissa spent fourteen years practicing architecture before founding REDU. Melissa says, “The average house in our area is forty years old… and lifestyles have changed a lot since the seventies! Let me help you update that house into your perfect home!”

was first introduced to LoweryBank seven years ago when we were moving our offices from Westheimer out to Sugar Land. As we were moving in, the Vice President of LoweryBank dropped by with a dozen donuts. “Just let us know if we can ever help you out,” he told us. At the time they were downstairs in my very building, so we opened Sarah Warburton an account. Later when they moved to their current building on the Southwest Freeway, we stayed with them. Everyone there is friendly, they always do what they say they’ll do for you, and they’re a real asset to our community.”

We also founded a 501c3 organization,Proud American Kids, that focuses on various activities for children of disabled veterans. Choosing a local bank like LoweryBank means our money stays in the community and we’re working with people who believe in making Fort Bend a better place.” LoweryBank’s a local bank that’s a perfect fit for a world-traveler like Jerrell. He says, “Walking through the door really is like coming home!” You’ll get a friendly “hello neighbor” and a warm, welcome feeling...together with a full array of personal and commerical services and products such as online bill pay, safe deposit boxes, a twenty-four hour ATM. Mike Dinges (President of LoweryBank) says, “I grew up here in Fort Bend, and I really believe in the power of building relationships. That may seem old-fashioned in today’s fast-paced financial world, but our goal is to combine convenient banking with real customer service.” “If you don’t bank at LoweryBank,” Jerrell says, “you should!”

The Clear Best Choice
It’s Hard To Stop A Trane
W Amy Sharp
hen David decided to replace the two air conditioning systems in his First Colony home, he did extended research on the type of systems he wanted to put in. “All of my research pointed to TRANE as the best and most reliable in the business,” says David. And as he delved further into TRANE, he knew he needed a TRANE Comfort Specialist to install the systems... and that led him to Jackson Air and Heat, right here in Sugar Land. Johnny Jackson started Jackson Air and Heat in 1982 and built his business on a philosophy of quality and reliability. Today, his son Brian continues the tradition…the family has been installing TRANE systems for more than thirty years! David says, “Of course, I checked them out with the BBB and Angie’s List, and Jackson Air was the clear best choice.
Only compliments and recommendations on Angie’s List, and not one complaint with the BBB in more than thirty years! That’s impressive!” But David continued his homework. “After selecting the exact TRANE systems I wanted, I got a few different quotes from other companies, so that I could compare apples to apples,” says David, “and again, Jackson Air was the clear best choice. I received quotes as much as $20,000 more than the one Brian gave me…and those other installers were not even TRANE Comfort Specialists!” Jackson Air was hired for the job and Brian and his crew did not disappoint. “I do not have one complaint about the entire process,” says David, “from the financing and the office staff to the crews that were at my house…everyone did exactly what they said they would do. Brian was on-site the entire time and took care of everything 100%. The work is excellent. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a TRANE system!”
Jackson Air is the oldest TRANE Comfort Specialist in Fort Bend County. They are EPA and NATE certified, and as David found out, recipients of the Angie’s List “Super Service” award and the BBB Award of Excellence. “I wasn’t going to settle for anything but the best,” says David. “I’m so pleased with everything Jackson Air has done. And I love that they are a Sugar Land business. An A/C system is a big investment, and it’s great that we can get the BEST while supporting a local business!” Jackson Air and Heat, Inc. I had a total of three brain surgeries and three weeks after the first surgery I had radiation. After I finished my six weeks of radiation, I rang a bell like I’d gone through a prize fight, but I was proud I’d been strong enough to make it. I suffered additional infections, the radiation damaged the delicate skin on my face and opened a hole, I had a picc line in my arm for an entire year, and a blood clot that necessitated giving myself a daily shot in the stomach. So even after all the tentacles of the tumor were gone, I still had a long way to go. I had additional surgery to separate my sinus from my brain and to remove the titanium from my forehead and replace it with plastic. I had reconstructive surgery on my face. I felt so self-conscious, but I still had to do the grocery shopping for my family and run errands. I’d use a scarf around my arm and a floppy hat. My husband took off an entire year to take care of me and he was at every appointment. He was a wonderful nurse and my daughter who was in 5th grade was so brave through the whole thing.
