Hi Key Club! I hope everyone has had a great and restful summer because school is right around the corner with new and exciting events for the upcoming year. I’m excited to see how the next school year will go for North Garland Key Club with the incoming freshmen!
Hey Key Club!! I hope you all have enjoyed this break to the fullest as it’s coming to a close. This summer, I went to California and spent quality time bonding with my family. We did lots of exciting things there! I’m really looking forward to this upcoming school year, and I can’t wait to see what it has in store for us!
Hey, Key Clubbers! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far (I know I have). I may dread going back to school, but I look forward to seeing y'all again at our events :)

I hope this letter finds you well. How have the past few months treated you? It’s hard to believe it’s already been 3 months since our confirmation retreat, and a month after confirmation, yet your impact on my life remains strong. I’m deeply o have met such an inspiring and important during this crucial time in my life. You’ve e of me time and time again without asking ng in return, always showing proper or my mental and physical health. I greatly e dedication and effort you put into guiding h the church’s teachings. The way you your dedication is truly admirable, and the ou receive from seeing your students grow g adults are priceless. Through your p, I have witnessed firsthand how each student contributes to your journey of self-discovery. You have such a deep compassion for others and your selflessness shines through every relationship you hold with your students. Your ability to connect with us on such a personal level, while still giving us wisdom and guidance, is a rare gift. Truthfully, the church has been blessed with an angel that embodies the meaning of its teachings. I’ve been motivated to give back to the community and show everyone the true impact of volunteerism, just as you have shown me. I sometimes worry about whether I will be able to make a similar impact on next year’s students when there is a mentor like you around. There has never been a salary for teaching catechism classes, yet you continue to take up this role each year, guiding young people through life’s challenges. Your example has inspired me to continue growing in my faith, particularly through acts of service. Thank you for being a beacon of light and guidance, and for encouraging me to follow a similar path. I hope we will come to enjoy the next school year together as I work beside you as a teacher assistant!
Summer Volunteering Summer Volunteering

As the summer is coming to an end, I’ve come to reminisce on the memories I've made during summer events. Waking up early in the morning, driving far distances, and getting to do enriching activities. These are all ways that Key Club has maintained its presence in my summer. From car washes to marathons to socials to food banks, I have been able to stay productive and engaged in my community. These opportunities helped me to be more involved with my community and made me realize how important it is to dedicate my time and effort to help. As the summer unfolds, opportunities to make a lasting impact on communities while also enriching personal experiences open up. Since others often see their summer break as a period of rest from the hardships of school and work, it is important to acknowledge the effort members put into summer volunteering. In my belief, it is very important to volunteer over the summer because not only does it provide meaningful activities for free time, but it also fosters community building and provides a sense of purpose, making it a fulfilling way to give back and stay engaged. Our club's commitment to service projects, even throughout the summer, has inspired many including me, and has created memories shared among members that have turned into memorable experiences. For example, volunteering with Kiwanis in the Hope in Hands food pantry. This was an event in which I packaged veggies and transported every day groceries to low-income families in need. The experience developed my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Seeing positive changes, like a family being able to feed their family, highlighted the significance in our efforts. I heavily encourage everyone to experience the advantages of volunteering over the summer and contribute their time to make a lasting impact. In conclusion, summer volunteering is not just about filling a seasonal need; it's about actively participating in the life of a community, fostering relationships, and making a meaningful difference.
PPATIENCE ATIENCE

“The mindset everyone needs. Patience is “the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset” . Key Club has taught me the importance of patience through the June summer volunteer events our club hosts. During our June carwash my club and I were patiently waiting on the side of the road offering car washes for tips on a hot summer morning waiting for just one car to come. Although things seemed grim at first, our patience ended up persevering and slowly but surely, cars came in and accepted our services. The June carwash shows how the club persevered and waited in the scorching heat of an early Sunday morning ultimately rewarding them with services that came soon after. Another example of how patience rewards those who seek it is within our Murphey Marathon. My group during the Murphey marathon dash was towards the end of the marathon and had to wait the entirety of the marathon to see the runners go by. Although it took a long while to even find the water station, it took even longer for the runners to finally arrive and be able to be served. Although it was a scorching hot day filled with no clouds or breeze, our key club still successfully fulfilled our job and gave out an assortment of drinks to the runners who all gave a kindhearted thanks to our service during the marathon. The Murphey Marathon displayed how the result of being patient is always worth it as you’ll receive something equalfied to your efforts and patience. Both of our July events display greatly how even in the worst conditions possible, if you are patient and persevere through the discomforts of the situation, you’ll be able to reap greater rewards such money and the thanks of an amazing community.
Promoting Socials Promoting Socials

As a secretary, socials are probably one of the most important parts in earning points. Although this is vitally important for our club in earning points, members don’t necessarily know this, which leads us officers to promote socials in a variety of different ways. The first way is hour opportunities. As a big club, we require members to gain a minimum of 50 hours per year. Eve won’t be the only thing that members go to it probably won’t be sufficient enough for th hours, thus members start looking to socials for hour opportunities. Socials usually are about 1-3 hours which may not seem like a lo but when gathered together they aid a big p in gaining hours. The second way is that so are very common throughout the year and in places easily accessible to all members. Most socials hosted by our club are directly after school which allows members the opportunity to attend without any problem of rides or waking up early in the morning (there are even a few socials hosted on Discord, such as our Lock In social, which allow members to attend in the comfort of their own home) . Us officers plan about 3 or so socials every month during the school year, each with its own distinctive charm to attract members. The third and final way is that socials are simply fun. Every social has something to offer, a few examples of this are our tote bag social last year (painting cute tote bags definitely attracted members), dog toy social (who wouldn’t want to make dog toys to help dogs in need), dog park social (a lot of cute dogs went), and a bunch of other socials. Every one of these socials allows each member to enjoy time with their friends and allows for a break from everyday life, thus socials are fun get-togethers with a variety of benefits.
a final thought a final thought

Even though I went to Key club socials and events as a freshmen, I was never an official member until the 2022-2023 school year as a sophomore. Since the beginning of the year, I had the goal of becoming an officer which made me more attentive to the details and processes of our NGHS Key Club. Throughout the year, I have noticed many issues I find that have held us back from becoming one of the best Key clubs in Texas-Oklahoma.
Despite the numerous flaws I feel that we can improve on, one thing in particular which always bothers me is the organization and plans we have when it comes to everything in general. Whether it be brainstorming dates for ordering shirts, planning fundraisers, or even organizing socials, the lack of organization and planning proved to be a significant hindrance to our success and productivity. One event that comes into mind is our Boo Grams fundraiser. At the time I was not an officer but I helped out in making the boo grams at both at school and at an officer’s house as well as distributing the boo grams during the school day. As much as I loved doing it and spending time with each other, it was utterly chaotic. We were slowly losing our sanity as we kept seeing boo gram orders over and over again. All of the making was shoved to the last minute which caused us as officers to sacrifice our time to make these boo grams when we could have planned socials throughout the week beforehand where we could have members help make these grams. Even though we thought our suffering was over, distributing the boo grams was even worse. Besides the horrific process of checking off every gram distribution, we walked back to the class finding another box and bag full of boo grams which we did not see since they were hidden under the table.
Another example of an issue we ran to was when it came to communicating with Kiwanis. One specific instance was when they had set up a fundraiser without our approval which led to a lack of effort when it came to promoting the fundraiser which sort of hurt our relations with Kiwanis.
Overall as a club not only do we need to plan and organize club activities better, we need to start thinking more ahead for the next year. This should not only be up to the officers but we should seek member advice and help to allow better planning especially when it comes to things such as buying shirts. Only then can we strive to become one of the best Key Clubs in the Texas-Oklahoma District.
just another club just another club
By: yen do
If I am being honest, Key Club was just another club to me at the start of my term. Of course, I still took it seriously since it was my first year being an officer, but I did not consider all other responsibilities that was not specifically listed in my position. Throughout this year, I was able to see the inner workings of our Key Club and the extra time that must be put in as officers to plan out successful events, socials, and projects and change my views for the better.
Over last summer, I felt that I did not tend to my responsibilities as a general officer enough because I went to very few events and did not participate in our meetings as much as I do now. However, it was the summer, and I was more laid back with all my tasks as a whole because once the school year started, I made sure to pull more of my weight on the board. When I started paying attention to club activities and what goes into them, I immediately realized that I would have to put in more work than before.
At first, I felt more stressed and overwhelmed with the extra work that is Key Club on top of my new classes, but when I started offering my ideas and actually participating in the planning of events, I found myself having a lot of fun. I remember the weekend leading up to Halloween where the other officers and I spent that whole weekend making Boo-Grams to be delivered on Monday. It might have been one of the most stressful times for me this year with several trips around the school and to the store in my costume shoes that left behind several blisters. However, I clearly remember doing all of that with a smile on my face and laughing with the other officers. The “stress” turned out to be a fun core memory from my sophomore year. The thrill of making hundreds of BooGrams on a time crunch with people I like made the experience a lot better than what I thought it would have been.
It might sound unbelievable and that I am just stretching it, but I really did have fun doing board meetings and discussing club activities. It was the community and relationships I have built with the other officers and our advisor that made everything so much more enjoyable. This was the biggest switch from viewing Key Club as another thing to put on my college applications to a community and second home I am proud to be a part of.
