by Elsie Walker here is a saying that one person’s garbage is another’s treasure. One of the projects of the Matthew 25: Ministries, based in Ohio, is taking the pill bottles that most people throw away or are piling up as clutter in their homes, and giving them to doctors serving patients in needy third world counties. something like a rag or leaves in which to hold it. By receiving clean, empty medication bottles, the doctors serving in these needy countries can provide patients with clean containers in which to put their medications. Locally, people have been collecting bottles for this need. It has taken on a ripple effect which many hope will continue to grow. When Walker was visiting in North Carolina and Virginia, she let people she knew there know about the bottle drive and collected ones from them, too. “This has mushroomed,” she said. “People tell me, ‘oh gee, I’ve been throwing these [bottles] out,’” said
