All-round performer - Hettich universal centrifuge H
ettich Zentrifugen’s Universal 320 benchtop centrifuge has a modern classic shape, excellent performance record and comprehensive range of accessories that enable you to carry out virtually any centrifuging task required in any industrial, research or clinical laboratory. These features all add up to provide good reasons why this centrifuge is called Universal. In the low speed range, the Universal 320 process standard tubes up to a volume of 200ml, microtiter plates, conical tubes with
screw cap, blood collection tubes and cyto accessories. Microlitre tubes can be accelerated to an RCF of 21 382. Centrifuge tubes taking higher volumes also profit from the powerful motor, and at an RCF of 9 418, bacteria and yeast sediment quickly and easily. The Universal has extremely short run-up and run-down times with a fastcool function and temperature settings from -20°C to +40°C. The display panel is designed ergonomically, and during centrifugation actual parameter values are clearly and legibly indicated here. Nine acceleration and braking ramps, or unbraked run-down can be preselected. The stored parameter combination remains in memory even after switch-off. By entering the rotor radius r/mm, the
Nicomp Nano DLS/ZLS systems Measuring the size and zeta potential of sub-micron particles
T
he Nicomp Nano N3000 system uses Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) technology to size proteins, colloids, emulsions, nanoparticles, CMPs, inkjet inks, and a variety of other dispersions used in nanotechnology and medicine. By selecting the optimum laser, detector, fluidics and accessories, the Nicomp DLS system is built to match your samples and applications. The system software features the
Nicomp algorithm for sizing, which has a superior ability to detect and separate multimodal distributions and primary peaks from aggregate peaks. The Nicomp Nano Z3000 system is available for size and zeta potential analysis. The Nicomp Nano Z3000 combines Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) sizing capability with both frequency and Phase Analysis Light Scattering (PALS) modes for measuring zeta potential. With an elect electric field that can be varied from 1 to 250 Volts/cm, one instrument can be used to analyse zeta potential in both aqueous and organic solvents.
Mabtech is the Elisa kit supplier to watch in 2019
M
abtech specialises in the development and production of a wide range of monoclonal antibodies to cytokines, immunoglobulins and apolipoproteins for in vitro applications in life science research. Researchers around the world use Mabtech products to capture, detect and discover analytes with precision and accuracy. Mabtech is one of the few companies to focus entirely on monoclonal antibodies for ELISpot, FluoroSpot and Elisa kits. Mabtech carefully characterises their monoclonal antibodies and use this information to configure optimal antibody pairs. To always ensure best results in the lab, they have extensive and stringent quality control and validation processes to confirm the stability, activity and performance of products. Mabtech kits are used to study immune responses in infectious disease, cancer, allergy, transplantation, and are commonly used as monitoring tools in vaccine trials.
In addition, Mabtech produce kits for veterinary and cardiovascular research. MICROSEP (PTY) LTD Frances Renwick Tel: (011) 553 2300 Fax: (011) 553 2400 frances.renwick@microsep.co.za www.microsep.co.za

Furthermore, the cost of ownership is minimised with an easy-to-use dip cell and inexpensive ZRS zeta potential standard. No other DLS system offers exclusive capabilities such as: • The Nicomp multi-modal algorithm • Auto-dilution • Multi-angle goniometer • Autosampler • Online DLS systems
BUCHI’s prominent rotavapor From basic to full automation
T
he Rotavapor R-300 from BÜCHI Labortechnik AG, the world leader in rotary evaporation, is an innovative, modular platform with a plug & play concept. This enables seamless combinations of components to provide tailor-made solutions, from a basic rotary evaporator to a fully automated system. The Rotavapor R-300 has been designed as a modular system and offers maximum flexibility with options for central interface, heating bath, glass assembly, pump and chiller. A new level of unattended operation is achievable with integration of an optional central interface and foam sensor.
In conjunction with a BUCHI vacuum pump and recirculation chiller, the perfect synchronisation of process parameters, such as rotation speed, pressure and temperature (i.e. heating, cooling and vapour) opens up new possibilities such as: • Automation of standard operation procedures (SOPs) using configurable methods • Unattended distillation of foaming samples • Remote process monitoring with pushnotifications to mobile devices The BUCHI Rotavapor Configurator app is also available to simplify the process of selecting the optimal configuration for any customer’s needs.
