NATURAL DENTISTRY: A Healthier Approach to Dental Care The further we displace ourselves form our natural way of being, the worse it is for our body and health. This is an undeniable and profound truth. Dr. Shvartsman and Dr. Golan take a holistic approach to dental health care. Over 100 years ago, Dr. Weston Price observed traditional people around the world. Those that were more westernized had more mouth and health problems, while those following a more Dr. Shvartsman Dr. Golan traditional life and diet were remarkably healthier. This article will focus on the nature/dentistry connection. The importance of respecting nature has recently been exemplified in studies of human jaw development. One study has found that children who are breast-fed develop properly shaped upper jaws as opposed to those who are artificially fed with a bottle. Another important point when it comes to breastfeeding is that what nature has designed for babies to eat will always be far superior to any man-made formula. Another study found that children in hunter-gatherer societies eating unprocessed food develop normal lower jaws as opposed to children eating a westernized processed food diet. So eating natural food that is our birth-right not only is good for our health it is critical for our jaw development. It is no wonder that most children in the US need braces because their jaws are too small to accommodate their teeth. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors had straight teeth and an absence of tooth decay and gum disease. For hundreds of thousands of years before agriculture, which is only 10,000 years old, human beings lived as one with nature. Our ancestors lived as hunter-gatherers eating a diet of animals, vegetables and fruit. Grains, legumes and dairy were not part of their natural diet, no matter which environment they lived in. It is only with the advent of grain, legume and dairy consumption do we find tooth decay, improper jaw development and gum disease. This is something to consider if you want to avoid these common diseases of the mouth in our westernized society. When it comes to restoring teeth, Dr. Shvartsman and Dr. Golan look to nature as the guide. This is why they follow the Biomimetic Dentistry approach to restoring decayed, weakened and broken teeth. Biomimetic dentistry focuses on restoring teeth with materials that closely emulate the different parts of the tooth in both physical structure, esthetic form and color. Dentin and enamel are restored with Bisphenol-A free composite resins that have sim-

by Dr. Alex Shvartsman DDS & Dr. Howard Golan DDS

ilar properties to each respective layer of the tooth. This way, the restorative tooth replacement functions with the tooth in harmony and not against it. Rigid materials, like metal amalgam, act like wedges inside the tooth and too often cause fractures and cracking of the natural tooth structure. Some dentists think that amalgam filings "last longer" because metal is stronger than resin. The more important question is: "at what consequence?" If the tooth breaks or develops cracks, is that really desirable??? By respecting what is natural, Dr. Shvartsman and Dr. Golan always take great care to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible. There is nothing better than the natural tooth. This is why they follow a tooth conserving, biomimetic and holistic approach. Great care is taken to avoid toxic and harmful materials such as mercury or Bisphenol A-containing fillings. Both doctors also use metal free ceramic restorations for crowns and onlays. Tooth decay is removed careful using Laser assisted diagnosis, Laser decay removal and/or dentin sparing drills. Decay identifying dye is used to identify bacteria infected dentin so that only the diseased part of the tooth is removed and the healthy part preserved. Severely weakened teeth are reinforced with a woven fiberglass mesh to regain strength and support for weak cusps. Gum disease is treated in a minimally invasive manner as well. Early stage gum disease is treated in a non-surgical approach while more advanced stages are treated in a minimally invasive manner using Laser micro-surgery. Instead of cutting away gum and bone around teeth, the Laser approach addresses the cause of disease: bacteria and inflammation. In addition, Laser energy stimulates the body’s natural healing response. Mouth ulcers such as cold sores, canker sores and apthous ulcers are also treated with laser energy and not drugs, as is the common approach. By setting a new paradigm of respecting and emulating nature, we can embark on a new, better health care approach. Patients need to become their own health care advocates by choosing doctors who provide them with the health care that they want to receive. Take control of your health! LYME DISEASE: The Great Mimicker by Dr. Howard Robins What’s Wrong with Me? Michael came into the office taking short baby steps. His 19 year-old arms and hands were bent and twisted into a weird spasmodic position. His head tilted to the side, eyes nearly closed with his face in a strange grimace. He spoke in short three or four word sentences. He had been suffering since he was 13 years old and his father was ready to institutionalize him for the rest of his life. Until he became ill, he was a normal boy and a computer whiz. One day, he developed what appeared to be the flu, except it was in the summer and not the flu season. His doctor recommended typical care for the flu, bed rest and lots of fluids. Things got worse. Testing showed “nothing wrong,” just a high white blood cell count. The doctor was savvy, so he tested for Lyme disease. It was negative. That is, until 2 years later. Several courses of oral and intravenous antibiotics failed to work. The symptoms improved but never went away and came back with a vengeance when the medicine was stopped. His symptoms worsened over the years and several Lyme experts later left him in the state in which he arrived into our office. He had late stage Lyme disease. Are you suffering with symptoms of an illness that doesn’t seem to respond to any normal treatment? Have the doctors changed the diagnosis several times or can’t agree on a diagnosis? Does nothing seem to help get rid of it that should? Maybe, just maybe, you are suffering from the “great mimicker” Lyme disease. Even if you know you have it, but believe you can’t get rid of it, don’t give up hope! Read on.

The Cause Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. Borrelia burgdorferi is the main cause of Lyme disease in North America, though up to five co-infections are often present. The disease is named after the towns of Lyme and Old Lyme, Connecticut, USA, where a large number of cases were identified in 1975. It is a worldwide pandemic. The infection is transmitted to humans by the bite of infected ticks. The ticks are extremely small and often fall off the body after feeding, thus masking the fact that you’ve been bitten. They are so light that they can be air-borne landing on grass, plants, bushes or animals.

The Symptoms and the Difficulty in Diagnosis

appearance. The “bulls-eye rash” is thought to occur in only about 80% of infected patients adding to misdiagnosis. Patients often experience flu-like symptoms, such as headache, muscle soreness, fever, and malaise, which can also confuse early diagnosis. Unfortunately, left untreated, symptoms may involve the joints, heart, and central nervous system. The disease can affect multiple body systems at the same time and produce a wide range of symptoms. Not all patients with Lyme disease will have all symptoms, and many of the symptoms are not specific to Lyme disease, but can occur with other diseases as well, also making it difficult to diagnose. Also, blood testing frequently shows false negative testing or indeterminate results, causing doctors to delay diagnosis and treatment until it’s too late to easily kill the infections. It may take several years after numerous false negatives to finally test positive for Lyme infection! Every part of the body can be affected. Various acute neurological problems including facial palsy, which is the loss of muscle tone on one or both sides of the face, as well as meningitis, which involves severe headaches, neck stiffness, and sensitivity to light are common in untreated cases. Nerve inflammation causes shooting pains that may interfere with sleep, as well as abnormal skin sensations. Mild encephalitis may lead to memory loss as well as sleep disturbances, and mood changes. In addition, some case reports have described altered mental status as the only symptom. All this makes often makes it extremely difficult to diagnose leading to incorrect treatment and unnecessary suffering often for many years. The late stage is where the infection has fully spread throughout the body. A polyneuropathy that involves shooting pains, numbness, and tingling in the hands or feet may develop. A neurologic syndrome called Lyme encephalopathy is associated with subtle cognitive problems, such as difficulties with concentration and short-term memory often accompanied by profound fatigue. Other progressive late stage symptoms include cognitive impairment, weakness in the legs, awkward gait, facial palsy, bladder problems, vertigo, and back pain. In some cases untreated Lyme disease may cause psychosis, which has been misdiagnosed as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Panic attacks and anxiety can occur; there may also be delusional behavior.

Early symptoms may include fever, headache, fatigue, depression, and a characteristic circular skin rash, which has a “bulls-eye” (target-like),

JUICING FOR YOUR HEALTH Juicing with organic fruits, vegetables and herbs is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body. Cooking destroys important enzymes and nutrients found in fresh foods and so it is vital to health to occasionally nourish your body with fresh-juiced produce. In fact, when you go shopping, 2/3 of your shopping cart should be filled with produce. Check out people's shopping carts, then, you will understand why there is a health crisis in this country! Some excellent immunity-strengthening fruits, vegetables and herbs include: carrots, ginger and lemon; cleansing: parsley, cucumbers, cilantro, dandelion, grapes, beets, pineapples; anti-aging: kale, broccoli, spinach, mangoes (studies show mangoes have blood sugar lowering and anti-inflammatory properties), strawberries and blueberries; nourishing: bananas, watermelon and cantaloupe. The combinations are endless and the best part is you can experiment. The best method is to mix a variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs so you can achieve a full spectrum of diseasefighting phytonutrients. Make sure you choose organic over conventional and that you thoroughly wash your produce with a natural cleansing spray, often found in the produce section of the market. The next part is choosing the right juicer. There are many on the market, but what are the best features? There is one that is the Gold standard by which all other juicers are judged. If you are serious about your health, you will want to invest in a Tribest Green Star Elite juicer used by raw food and juicing advocates worldwide. This is not your typical juicer, however, it is also an all around food processor, making frozen sorbet, baby food, pasta, almond milk and so much more! From hard roots (carrots, ginger) and fibrous stalks (celery, artichokes) to even the toughest leafy greens (kale, wheat grass), Tribest's Green Star Elite juicer extracts while protecting even the most delicate of vital nutrients. It produces very little waste and you can juice parts of vegetables and fruits you would normally cut off or omit all together. For example, the essential oils found in lemon rind are potent free radical scavengers, have antibacterial and antifungal properties and most importantly, have phtochemicals that protect you against skin melanoma and breast-cancer! ("Phytochemical Analysis of Citrus Limonum Pulp and Peel" International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Vol 4:2 2012). So include the lemon rind when juicing! Backed by a 12-year manufacturer's warranty, the Green Star Elite juicer features: 24 "teeth," including patented pocket recesses that act like our incisors to process harder vegetables more efficiently and easily while keeping enzymes intact; 110 revolutions per minute (similar to our chewing speed of 100-120 times per minute) to prevent air bubbles that degrade (oxidize) the nutritional value of the juice; An exclusive low-speed, heavy-duty twin gear impeller press system that operates with minimal friction, heat and noise, preserving even the most delicate nutrients; HD Jumbo Twin-Gear Juicing Technology that uses a 3-stage process (crushing, mixing, and pressing) to produce higher juice yields and enhance the nutritional value of every drop. Exclusive magnetic and bioceramic technology (Far Infra Red or FIR) to help delay oxidation and stabilize the liquid, making the nutrients in the juice last up to 72 hours in the refrigerator compared to 15 minutes with a centrifugal juicer, helping to retain the crystalline structure and "life-force" of the vegetables and fruits. A nylon safety buffer helps make a clean extraction; Cleaning utensils, a pasta maker set; Instructional DVD and manual On top of its unique functionalities, the Green Star Elite is also easy to clean and assemble, featuring automatic pulp ejection for continuous juicing and easier clean up. "Juicing supplies an enormous amount of nutrients to the body and improves overall health and wellness," says Tribest founder Jae Choi. "While other juicers are listed as masticating juicers, they are missing important design features necessary to unleash every drop of nutrition from fresh produce. The process is similar, but they don't have all the teeth!" The Green Star Elite easily juices most fruits, herbs and vegetables, grinds nuts, seeds and soaked grains and works as a food mill for the preparation of baby foods, sorbets and nut butters. The Green Star Elite Juicer and Food Processor is equipped with four different screens: a fine screen to extract juice with minimal pulp; a coarse screen to extract juice with more pulp mixed in; the

Raising Giant Kids Through the years, I have given talks where one or both of my kids have come with me. Without fail, parents come up to me and ask me about my kids. The most frequent question is "how did your kids get so big?" This is especially true of those people that know my boy's mom is very short. I am writing this will the full awareness that people are just nice in general and tend to say nice things about people's kids. What I am talking about is changes that can make all kids healthier. First let me tell you my giant 12 year old is 5'9" and 130 pounds. My giant 14 year old is 5'10" and 132 pounds. They are a pleasure at home and at school, good in academics and sports. I can't be bragging here because I did not emphasis either. Of course, they are far from perfect and this article is not about perfection. The best word for what I am trying to talk about is optimization. "Optimal" means not just in height but in health. Mental, emotional and physical health. So this article will mostly be about how I learned to avoid the big pitfalls that can affect children's health. By saying "giant kids" I will trust that you know I am really talking about what can make your child as healthy as they can be. The first step begins in pregnancy, of course. One thing that a mother can do is test herself for hidden food allergens. Food allergens can be a problem because anything that will stress the mom can affect how the baby will begin preparing itself for the world. Remember when the sperm and egg come together the baby is made we have the canvas and the paints that we will have for life. From that point on, we are working on the picture that we are going to paint with the tools that we have. So if a food allergen is eaten then it will create a reaction in the body. The reaction is balanced by the release of a hormone called cortisol. If the baby experiences high cortisol levels, then the picture that will be painted in the womb is a response to this high cortisol stress. One of the biggest stresses that human beings have faced in their survival is lack of food. So when the baby sees high cortisol in the womb, it will paint a picture of a smaller or shorter and rounder baby. It does

this to minimize surface area. That is a fancy way of saying it makes it easier for the baby to stay warm when it is born. The most effective shape to save calories is the shape of a ball. The least effective way to save calories is the shape of a stick. Another way to say this is that a ball has the least surface area to volume and a stick has the most surface area to volume. This is more than just a superficial cultural reference for one body type or another. We know that rounder bodies have a higher risk of illness like diabetes. After food allergies, the next step in eating is to decrease the foods that are not good for your blood type. There are about three foods for each blood type that are not very well digested. These are in my booklet that is usually available for download on my website. By taking these two diet steps, the baby is being exposed to less stress hormones and will create a taller and more slender picture in the pregnancy. It also makes sense that during pregnancy, the mom should eat foods that are organic and GMO free. Eliminate any foods that are artificial such as artificial sweeteners and food colors. I did not used to think that eating foods free of genetically modified ingredients was a big factor in the past. Recently, I have seen studies that show that that the insecticide proteins that are part of GMO foods are showing up in the blood of newborn babies. So this is a stress that can be eliminated, thereby decreasing cortisol. Anytime you see high cortisol, I want you think think low growth hormone. Low cortisol will equal high growth hormone. One more time, cortisol blocks growth hormone. Clearly after the baby is born, both the mom and child should continue with allergen free diets. Breast milk is the best food for babies, and will do the best job of continuing to create the best picture with the paints and canvas given by the DNA the baby was born with. When foods are introduced, they should also be foods that are compatible with the baby's blood type. Remember the baby's blood type may be different than either the mother or the father's blood type. Also, shortly after the baby starts foods, they should be tested for hidden food allergens. By eliminating these food allergens early, you will greatly decrease the amount of cortisol in the baby's system and that will mean an increased amount of growth hormone. Sometimes, we see patterns of allergies in the mom, dad siblings and the baby.

Research-Based Resistance Training Exercise Prescription: Part 2 Every month, new studies that support the health benefits of exercise are published in scientific journals. The takehome message is that exercise is good for you in many ways including some that we would have never imagined even just a few years back. Much like a doctor prescribes a drug that has stood the scrutiny of scientific investigation, legitimate exercise professionals apply similar standards when establishing exercise guidelines. However, it's apparent that this is often not the case in the field where hearsay and unsupported claims run rampant. And nowhere is this more apparent than in the weight room. Consequently, it behooves anyone who dedicates at least some of their gym time to resistance training (and everybody should!) to look to the research when deciding how to do so. A good place to start is a recent article by Ogasawara et al. in the Journal of Applied Physiology. A study entitled, "mTOR signaling response to resistance exercise is altered by chronic resistance training and detraining in skeletal muscle," examined some very important changes that occur in the body after only one resistance training session. The authors begin by explaining that skeletal muscle possesses dynamic tendencies that allow it to adapt to changes in activity. For example, after you perform a resistance exercise session, synthesis of muscle proteins is accelerated and these proteins will continue to accumulate when the stimulus is repeated during subsequent sessions. This is why your muscles grow bigger (hypertrophy) as weeks pass when you lift weights regularly. However, there is also a tendency for skeletal muscle to strive to maintain constancy (homeostasis). Consequently, once an adaptation occurs, there is a reduced response in the future. This is why people like myself who have been training with weights for decades have not accumulated 500 pounds of muscle by now! Collectively, the ability to hypertrophy when challenged coupled with the drive for homeostasis means that you can convince your body that it needs more muscle up to a point beyond which it says, "No mas!" And this makes sense because just like not enough muscle can threaten survival, too much also has potential drawbacks. So, with this in mind, it's easy to understand why resistance training-induced protein synthesis and subsequent hypertrophy occur most rapidly during the early phases of training before progressively slowing with time. But it's also interesting to note that after a period of detraining, muscle

adaptive responses return to their initial levels so that the effects of training, once resumed, are similar to those that were observed when the training stimulus was initially encountered. The aim of this study was to assess why these changes occur by monitoring activation of important signaling proteins that mediate the process. These include those associated with both mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK). To begin this study, the authors assigned 20 male rats to one of four groups. Rats in group one performed one exercise bout only, while those in groups two and three performed one bout per day on non-consecutive days for a total of 12 and 18 bouts, respectively. Like the first group, rats in the fourth group also performed one exercise bout, but did so after completing the 12-bout protocol followed by 12 days of detraining. The activation that constituted training for these rats involved electrical stimulation of the right gastrocnemius muscle of the calf. The current, which was applied via needle electrode, forced the muscle to contract isometrically (i.e., develop tension without changing length) at its maximal capacity five times per set with five sets performed per session. Conversely, the left gastrocnemius was not trained and, therefore, served as a control against which adaptations of the right side were compared. Twenty-four hours after their final training session, the rats were anesthetized and their muscle tissues were removed for analysis. Results from this study showed that an increase in muscle weight indicative of hypertrophy was present after 12 and 18 training sessions, but not after one. Furthermore, when 12 days of detraining followed 12 training sessions, the increase after cessation of training remained. Not surprisingly, peak tetanic torque (a measure that within this model is synonymous with strength) reacted similarly as it was increased after multiple training bouts and this measure was also unaffected by detraining. However, analysis of some of the signaling responses painted quite a different picture. For example, mTOR downstream targets p70S6K and rpS6 were elevated above the control value after only one exercise bout. However, repeated bouts actually blunted this effect such that an elevation was still present, but of lesser magnitude. Even more interesting was the finding that the maximal response, which was observed for group one, was also observed in the fourth group when 12 trainings sessions were followed by 12 days of detraining and one bout that resumed it. Fred DiMenna is a two-time Natural Mr. United States and retired WNBF drug-free professional bodybuilder who has a PhD in exercise physiology from Exeter University's School of Sport and Health Sciences in the U.K. Visit him at www.freddimenna.com or email him: mrnaturalus@yahoo.com

what inspires you? In my everyday life, I wake with the same thought: How will I inspire and motivate everyone I encounter today? The fact is, in my line of work as a fitness professional, this is no easy task considering we humans are inspired by a variety of influences and ideas. I realized many years ago, not everyone has a burning desire to exercise or be healthy; it is still my job to figure out what I can do to galvanize even the most adverse client to succeed. With this in mind, I steadfastly believe there is always some way to become infinitely inspired to achieve whatever it is you desire. I can easily inform the patient reader on the benefits of exercise, how a fitness-oriented lifestyle can and will give you control over your health, moods, sleep patterns and general quality of life. As much as we all want these positive attributes in our lives, too often, we are unmotivated to take the steps to empower ourselves. We lack a specific mental attitude. We lack inspiration. Figuring out what will inspire you can be part of the process of initiating and incorporating what will essentially become a life and a body you thoroughly enjoy on a daily basis. Inspiration is born of your own creative thinking. I have witnessed many people lose up to 100 pounds of body fat with no surgeries or shortcuts. Can you imagine the amount of creative thinking involved in such a monumental task? There must have been tremendous barriers and setbacks along the way, but the mindset, determination and will power to figure out how to keep going, keep moving, must have been awesome. I have also watched athletes take their bodies to elite levels of fitness that many of us are inspired by, but quickly decide these people have something we do not possess, some "extra" ability within their DNA. I will tell you that is a great fallacy. The only difference between you and the guy who lost 100 pounds, and the athlete, who took his body to an enviable level, is inspiration. Why are we mesmerized by success stories? Whether it is a weight-loss transformation, or an amazing journey from sickness to health, from lost to found, we crave, in a greedy way, a glimpse at the pure, raw strength of mind it takes to accomplish what we can only see in our minds. We see these stories as the quintessential inspiration we all desire. We envision ourselves doing or becoming something; then we come up with reasons, excuses, why we can't do it. All the people in the stories found a mindset, an indomitable spirit, an inspirational muse, which led to motivation, which became determination and then, one day, a new creation.

Let's work it out this way: What do you want? This should be something you can answer quickly and it shouldn't be vague or general. If you say, "I just want to be healthy," then what exactly does that mean to you? Does that mean you want a better physical report from the doctor? Does that mean you want your physical appearance to match your ideal version of yourself? Or maybe you simply want a firmer, more limber body that looks, feels and reflects your personal best. Now ask yourself: What inspires me? Who do I look to when I want to be inspired? For many, it is our children. We want nothing more than to provide a positive role model for them. Some people can be inspired by a rock star instructor or trainer, or someone you know at the gym who has already done what it is you want to do. For others, it may be the determination to recover from an injury or disease. It may be as simple as putting on an iPod and blasting some music you love. Whatever it is, you need to be able to have its presence daily in your life, constant, like a heartbeat. You can never lose the inspired- thought, it must be breathed in, like fresh air to the lungs. One of the greatest gifts you will receive from being inspired is the ability to effortlessly inspire others. So, to answer my own question each day, all I have to do is be me, and ironically, all my clients just need to be in my presence to know that I have no doubt about the power and strength that they possess. Often times, I believe it more than they do, but eventually, the selflimiting thoughts start to fade. I find that three simple words can work wonders..."Yes, you can." The truth is, we all need workout inspiration. Find it! Go to the book store and get a new fitness book. Join a new gym facility and embrace a new training routine, or get to a group fitness class with an amazing instructor. Once you create some momentum, everything else will begin to materialize. Consistently recalibrate your daily inspired thought; in no time at all, you will realize, no one is stopping you...but you! (Special Thanks to my friend, A, for inspiring me...) Detoxification Tips by Vanessa Galati Feeling exhausted lately? Having skin problems, body aches and pains or digestive issues? Do you suffer from weight gain, or are you unable to lose anymore weight? It may be time for a body detox. Detoxifying the body has been practiced for many centuries in many different cultures, to relax, rejuvenate, and replenish the body. When we eliminate these harmful toxins from our body, and then nourish our body with whole healthy foods and nutrients, it renews our ability to maintain optimal wellness and prevent disease. Lately, we have been hearing more and more about cleansing and detoxifying the body. It can all be so confusing, not knowing which cleanse is right for you. Detoxifying is about resting, cleansing, and nourishing the body from the inside out. Now more than ever, our systems are being bombarded with toxic overload. It is critical to detoxify the body. A cleanse is recommended at least once a year. Some symptoms that may indicate that you are in need of a cleanse include fatigue, poor elimination of bowels, irritability, craving for sugar, skin irritations, bags under the eyes and poor sleeping habits. So where does one begin? Well let's start by lightening up our toxic load; this includes eliminating alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, refined sugars & saturated fats. It is also a good idea to minimize the use of toxic household products. Household cleaners and personal care products (deodorant, nail polish, shampoo, lotions, toothpaste, laundry detergent) are filled with harmful toxins. There are many natural substitutes for these items at your local health food store. Our body produces stress hormones that can also create toxins in the body that will slow down the liver. Meditation, yoga and breathing exercises, can all help to decrease the toxic stress load on the body. By relieving stress, you can actually help the body heal itself. So what program is best for you? Cleanses usually follow a 7 day protocol. It takes time for the body to cleanse. If you're looking for something shorter to do, a 3-day juice fast is a great way to help give your digestive system a break and cleanse the blood. Drinking your vegetables will ensure high absorption of vitamins and minerals. In addition to the fast I recommend these top 10 things: 1. Drink at Least 2 quarts of water per day (Alkaline Ionized Water) 2. Exercise (Yoga, Jump rope, Jogging, Rebounding) 3. Dry Skin Brush to exfoliate dead skin cells off the body and increase circulation 4. Do a series of Colon Hydrotherapy sessions to eliminate any toxic waste in your colon 5. Sweat out toxins from deep within by using an Infrared Sauna for best results 6. Do an Ionic Foot Bath to remove toxins from a cellular level 7. After fasting, consume lots high fiber fresh fruits and veggies. 8. Practice Breathing Deep 9. Take supplements such as Omega 3-6-9 oil, Probiotics, and Digestive Enzymes to support digestive function and immune function

NEW BOOK ON HOLISTIC DENTISTRY Dr. Alex Shvartsman, a monthly columnist for New Living Magazine, explains in a comprehensive guide what is available to the health conscious dental consumer in his new book, "The Patient's Guide to Healthier Dentistry." So many diseases start in the mouth, namely systemic inflammation caused by bacteria getting caught in between the teeth and under the gum line. This inflammation is insidious and deadly dangerous as it can cause cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other life-threatening conditions. Don't be fooled into thinking your teeth can take care of themselves or that the health of your teeth are not connected to your overall health. This book is indispensable to anyone interested in holistic health - after all, holistic means all-encompassing does it not? Subjects like Root Canal Therapy, Dental Implants and Mercury Toxicity from amalgam fillings as well as natural support of mercury detoxification are included in this book. Because Dr. Shvartsman has training in biomimetic dentistry, he provides the least invasive methods for keeping your teeth healthy and as close to their original, natural state as possible. "Today's dentistry is changing at a rapid pace. It is a truly exciting time to be a dentist. However, it is an amazing time to be the patient. New advances in all disciplines of dentistry have made it possible to provide comfortable, esthetic, long lasting and healthy dental care," says Shvartsman. This book arms you with the most current knowledge and empowers you to ask the right questions when it comes to keeping your teeth and your body as healthy as possible. Join Wounded Warrior Projectʼs Soldier Ride® New York by Nick Kraus, Soldier Ride Co-Founder The Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) cycling event, Soldier Ride, returns to New York in July and the community is invited to fundraise and join injured service men and women as they cycle through Babylon and the Hamptons to overcome their physical, mental and emotional wounds. The rehabilitative cycling event brings WWP Alumni from the region and across the country together for a long weekend focused on physical health and wellness, camaraderie, and healing. To help Alumni on the ride, WWP provides stateof-the-art cycling equipment at no cost, which includes adaptive hand cycles, trikes, and bicycles to accommodate various injuries and disabilities, as well as unmodified road bikes for riders not requiring adaptive equipment. For many WWP Alumni, joining the ride helps ease their transition back to civilian life. Retired Air Force Captain Mary McGriff had a long road to recovery after serving in a war zone. After 20 years in the Air Force sheʼs now living with chronic PTSD, as well as severe back and neck pain. She spent months serving in Iraq while mortars and rocket attacks were launched on Balad Air Base multiple times a day, and she severely hurt her back volunteering to help doctors and nurses care for the wounded. Her injuries left her unable to do many everyday activities. Before her first Soldier Ride she wasnʼt able to exercise at all, but with the help of an adapted recumbent bike, she started riding, loved it, and she hasnʼt stopped since. She recently completed Soldier Ride in Washington, D.C. where President Barack Obama commended her on her hard work and perseverance. For others, joining the ride means going back home. Retired Army Staff Sergeant Erick Millette says Wounded Warrior Project saved his life and now he hopes to help others conquer the demons that he faced. During two tours as a combat patrol leader in Iraq, Millette and his team were the target of 17 IED explosions. After the last blast, he was medically retired and returned home a much different person. He was disturbed by what he experienced and felt his Army family had been stripped away from him. That was the start of a downward spiral that led to a severe depression and he even considered taking his own life. When he decided it was time to ask for help, he learned about Wounded Warrior Project and found the camaraderie he was looking for. On his first Soldier Ride he realized he wasnʼt alone and found the support he was looking for. Millette now works for the organization and is a resource for anyone who needs help. From finding hope to remembrance, this yearʼs ride through the Hamptons also honors those who lost their lives. As well as honoring those who have lost their lives, Soldier Ride New Yorkʼs community rides are also designed to help raise awareness of programs that help those who battle the physical and psychological damages of war. The Babylon Ride on Friday, July 19, is a 25-mile ride and will begin in downtown Lindenhurst and end in Babylon. On Saturday, July 20, community members can either join a 30- or 60-mile ride through The Hamptons or participate in a walk option. Participants will jump on their bikes in Amagansett and ride all the way to Sag Harbor and back. Saturdayʼs ride will be dedicated to Sag Harbor native Lance Corporal Jordan C. Haerter. Haerter was killed in action April 22, 2008 in Ramadi, Iraq at age 19. Haerterʼs actions that day, along with 21 yearold fallen comrade Corporal Jonathan T. Yale, saved the lives of more than 33 Marines and Iraqi policemen. Haerter and Yale were posthumously presented the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism, our nationʼs second highest military award. Both rides will end with a community lunch and an opportunity to meet other participants and WWP Alumni. Registration fees are $50 for adults and $25 for those 21 and younger, and participants are encouraged to fundraise. Whether youʼd like to join the ride in Babylon or The Hamptons or line the streets to cheer on participants, you can learn more at woundedwarriorproject.org

What Has Become of Bodybuilding? New Living Magazine is read by a wide range of men and women, both in age and in levels of fitness. There is a small percentage that have either competed in or have attended a Bodybuilding competition. Those of you in the latter group will have experienced what I have to say. The others will be affected by the outcome. A little history. I began weight training in 1970, entered my first physique competition in 1974, and have been competing ever since. My inspiration came from my Father and from photos of bodybuilders from the sixties and early seventies. I began my career in bodybuilding by training alone at home. As I improved, I made my way into the garage as I required more weights and variations of exercises. Eventually, I moved out and began training at a local health club. This is where I began my career as a Physique competitor. Joining a health club will enhance your training by giving you an education in proper nutrition and learning the proper form and function of free weights and machines. Health clubs, or gyms as we call them, were built upon giving their members the best methods for attaining a strong healthy body. The keyword here is “healthy.” Yes, we all wanted to lift as much as possible and develop muscle that gave us nicely shaped bodies, but not at the expense of our health. When I began competing, I was obviously an amateur. The organization for amateurs back then was the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), the same group that ran the Olympics. When we (the competitors) went on stage at a Local or Regional event, we were judged on muscle size, shape, definition and posing. When I competed in their National events such as the Mr. USA, the Jr. Mr. America or the Mr. America, the judges came on stage. If we as competitors were to win one of these titles, we had better be as healthy as we looked. So on stage they would look for skin blemishes, bad or crooked teeth (I am not kidding), clean hair, a nice smile, good posture and an overall good stage presence. This was all before I was given time to display my muscularity through a posing routine… without music! This is how bodybuilding WAS. Here is how bodybuilding IS. Let me precede this next segment by

saying that nothing is right or wrong unless someone makes a rule saying that it is. What was once a sport of health is now a sport of chemistry. Of course I am speaking of the use of anabolic steroids to enhance muscularity and definition. Because the current bodybuilding organization does not test for steroid use at their competitions, it is not wrong to use it. That is the choice of each competitor. What has changed in the sport of bodybuilding is the competitor’s level of health. It is not only through the use of drugs, but also the dieting necessary to attain an award winning physique. In contrast to the judging I received, today’s judging has a whole new criteria. Because of the drugs, competitors have more muscle, less fat, and are consequently more ripped (muscularity). So what the judges look for now is: muscularity, size, and symmetry. They are very rarely judged on posing anymore. Just like other sports, fans enjoy seeing the athletes get faster, stronger, and bigger. However, most are unaware of how it is being done until the media comes out with the “discovery” of an athlete using an enhancement drug. They also don’t see the after effects of prolonged drug use that many athletes suffer from. It is no surprise that Women’s Bodybuilding events are now a thing of the past. The Men’s Bodybuilding events have now become a venue of Women’s Bikini, Figure, and Fitness competitions. The decline in Men’s Bodybuilding has now opened the door to a new class called Men’s Physique. They are not required to be as big and cut as bodybuilders, plus they wear summer shorts instead of posing briefs. This now trickles down to a drop in attendance at health clubs of those men and women that were at one time looking to workout out with the dream of getting on stage to show off their hard work. Luckily, many do not want to risk the side effects from the levels of drugs needed to get on stage. Those who continue to use drugs are now using “safer” dosages just to get that sharper edge on muscularity. Health clubs such as Fitness Plus in Port Jefferson Station, maintain the core of strength training with ample amounts of free weights and machines designed for power and developing muscularity. As a whole, I think we should all try to stay within healthy guidelines with minimal or no drug use, maintain a healthy diet seven days a week (a cheat here and there is OK) and a daily schedule of intense free weight and machine training. There are a few other additional factors to consider in childhood. One concern I often hear from parents is concerning vaccination. This can be a very controversial topic for some people. I recently heard a lecture that seemed well documented where a doctor was discussing how diseases that we vaccinate for decreased in countries without vaccination at the same time. Of course, a good conventional medical pediatrician will recommend vaccination. In fact, many parents come in and tell me that their conventional medical pediatrician won't treat their kids unless they vaccinate. It seems best that parents educate themselves on both sides of the question so they can defend themselves. Some parents simply choose to delay vaccination while the child is going through such rapid growth and does not seem to be exposed to some disease we vaccinate for. In any case, we do know that vaccines do contain ingredients that are designed to create inflammation. These are called adjuvants. They are in vaccines to create inflammation after the vaccine injection so that the immune system reacts to the proteins in the vaccinations. An internet search for vaccine ingredients should bring up a list. As with any medical procedure, it is good to know exactly what is being done before giving your consent. Fully understanding all of the ingredients in a vaccination sometimes helps parents make a more informed choice. The inflammation caused by a vaccine will increase cortisol and block growth hormone in the same way as any other inflammation. Then again, childhood illness can temporarily cause the same problem also, so we don't know how much of factor that is. Throughout childhood, the goal is the same for giant kids. Keep the cortisol low and the growth hormone high. One way to know if this is a problem is to see if the child has a hard time getting to sleep or staying asleep. Often, sleep disturbances are caused by high cortisol. If I see this pattern, we can do a saliva test for cortisol to see if that is the problem. Then, it is a simple matter to give something to restore balance. During sleep is the time of the highest release of growth hormone, but to get the most effect, the child must be asleep and have low cortisol levels. Another way to look for high cortisol in children is to look for anxiety. Anxiety in children usually means that there is a high cortisol level. Again, it is not a big problem to test this and correct the problem if it exists. Other emotional imbalances can also be signs of hormone disturbances that

can be balanced naturally in a way that helps to enhance growth hormone release. Of course, if a child seems to be abnormally short, they should be evaluated by an endocrinologist who can measure their hormones. A problem may be so bad as to need growth hormone injections from the doctor. Even in cases that need growth hormone injection by an endocrinologist to get normal height, these shots will be most effective when cortisol is kept low by making the changes above. If a child's height problem is not bad enough to require growth hormone injections, there are some natural substances that we have seen to increase height. These probably work by increasing the amount of natural growth hormone in the body, but we don't know for sure. The nice thing about working with the body itself is that we don't have to worry about side effects. What we do may not be working on the hormones at all and may instead by working on the cells and how responsive they are to the hormones that are already in the body. There are no studies on these questions and we don't know for sure. One last thing we can do as parents, and one that I work on myself, is accepting our kids for who they are. So often we want to take the credit and blame for who are kids are as people. The more kids I see, the more it seems to me that kids come into the world as who they are waiting to be revealed rather than created. This makes us less responsible for their successes and failures and more responsible for finding ways to nurture who they actually are. Being accepted for who you are can have a profound affect on your stress and cortisol levels. If your child is a cactus or an oak tree, the best you can do is nurture the child you actually have rather then the one you may have thought you wanted. Growing giant kids turns out to be more about finding the best mental, emotional and physical environment and providing that for your child. I agree it is a lot of work, but it can also make parenting more fun and interesting. Healthy kids that are balanced have a better chance of growing into healthy adults and even of having healthy kids themselves, time will tell. ON THE COVER: tara lee

Yoga expert and video host Tara Lee has always been active having grown up around 3 brothers, but she remembers doing Jane Fonda workout videos with her mother when she was 8! “I played lots of sports at school and was on a few teams,” she says, but it was while she was attending college in London she got into yoga. Lee trained with several teachers doing short intensive courses and then after teaching for 5 years, studied with Yoga Campus in London through an 18-month weekend course. She has been practicing yoga for 22 years and teaching for around 12 years. “I continue to train every year with visiting teachers as I think it is important to keep growing and learning as a teacher,” she says. “I believe in moderation and listening to your body. We need to listen to signals from our bodies rather than suppressing them with medicine and to question why we feel the way we do at certain times. We need to try to find ways of staying balanced through exercise, yoga and nutrition so that we feel full of energy, vitality and positivity. Yoga can help us to find more balance and awareness.” In a typical day, Lee does an hour of exercise or yoga. “I like to vary what I do so it may be dance, swimming, cycling, pilates, jogging or yoga. I tend to exercise in the morning after I drop my children off at school if I'm not teaching. If I teach it is 2 or 3 classes per day. I usually fit in my own yoga and

Pet Nutrition Lecture, Whole Foods, Lake Grove Michael A. Selmer, DVM of Huntington, NY drew a crowd of about 30 people for his free lecture on Pet Nutrition at Whole Foods Market in Lake Grove, NY on June 27, 2013. Dr. Selmer gave an informative lecture on the best foods for your pet. "You wouldn't want to rely on feeding your child processed foods from a box or can why then do we feed our pets food from a box or can? You should be spending most of your time in the produce section." Dr. Selmer suggested that you pick a lean protein source like salmon or white chicken and then mix in fresh greens, vegetables and fruits. Add fish oil for an excellent lipid source (good for brain health, disease prevention and a shiny coat). A balanced home diet includes 3 components: 1. The supply of appropriate absorbable nutrients, 2. The reduction of inflammation 3. Foods that help with detoxification and elimination. You might think fiber is good, however, too much can cause excessive gas in your pet. Dr. Selmer advises: "Lower the fiber content in your dog's food. Read ingredients of dog foods for anything that is fibrous. Check the nutrition label to see if a fiber content per serving is listed. Cut back or avoid food that contains grains." Dr. Selmer also advises to give your pet a Metabolic Test, which is based on the premise that disease shows up in the blood before it manifests in the body. And he is not a big believer in over-vaccinating your pet. Annual vaccinations and boosters can harm and even negate initial vaccinations. Vaccination also does not 100% guarantee your pet will be immune from a certain disease. "I would like to make you aware that all 27 veterinary schools in North America are in the process of changing their protocols for vaccinating dogs and cats. Not only are the annual boosters for parvo and distemper unnecessary, they subject your pet to potential risks of allergic response and immune system related diseases." He recommends getting a titer for your pet which will test for the presence of antibodies to a certain disease. teaching between 10 am and 3 pm, so that I can dedicate the afternoon to my 2 children. I start the day with a cup of hot water with fresh lemon which is helpful for cleansing and supporting the liver.” “I usually have fruit and granola or porridge with almond milk (in the winter) for breakfast. A soup or salad and a fresh vegetable juice for lunch and fish, rice or quinoa and vegetables with the children early for dinner or I eat later with my husband when he comes home from work.” She says she also snacks quite a lot during the day on nuts, seeds, fruit and hummus since she is doing so much exercise and am always hungry. Lee also supplements with super green powders mixed into smoothies and juices with spirulina, chlorella, wheatgrass and ginger in the winter. “I often take a liquid iron supplement such as spatone or floradix as I don't eat meat.” In addition, she tries to avoid caffeine, wheat, dairy, too much sugar and all meat. “Yoga keeps me balanced as it incorporates meditation and breathing techniques. Exercising also helps me to feel good from the endorphins released which improves my mood. When I'm in the countryside staying with my mother, I like to go on long walks or go jogging along the river and be in nature. I am inspired by nature and I have been inspired in yoga by a few great teachers. Continuing to learn from different people and reading books keeps me curious and motivated to learn more. I am also inspired by my family and children.” Words of advice for starting yoga: “Start by trying to do just 10 minutes of yoga every day rather than thinking you have to do a whole hour. That way, you will practice more regularly and can be sure to fit it into even the busiest of days. You will probably find that once you start, you want to do a bit more! Don't be too concerned about each yoga pose needing to look perfect instead focus on the sensations you are feeling. If you try a yoga class and don't like it, don't give up but try a different style and a different teacher as there is so much variation.” “My 'Elements of Yoga' series of DVDs are good as you can progress to a more advanced one once you have mastered each one. You can also pick which one you feel would be most appropriate depending on your energy levels, time of day, how you feel and what effect you are looking for. The series is based on the elements (and their corresponding effects) of Earth (grounding), Air/Water (finding space and fluidity) and Fire (building heat and aiding detoxification). Each DVD is divided into three 20-minute sections so you can choose whether to do a short practice or the full practice. There are added bonus sections on each so you could choose to do 5 minutes of abdominal strengthening if you wanted to work your core or 5 minutes of breathing exercises if you wanted to feel calmer and centered. The DVDs are split into levels from beginners to advanced so are appropriate for anybody.” For more info, visit: www.taraleeyoga.com or order the DVDs from amazon.com

OVER MEDICATING OUR CHILDREN As a father of six children and Director of Clinical Pharmacy Operations at an adult psychiatric hospital in Michigan, I understand the struggles many families face battling childhood behavioral conditions, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD symptoms are real and in many cases can be devastating to a child's behavioral development if not appropriately assessed and treated. A more devastating reality is that powerful ADHD stimulant amphetamines, like Adderall, as well as psychiatric medications are prematurely prescribed to over 12 million children and young adults in the United States, prior to ruling out the cause of ADHD symptoms. This practice has led to America's ADHD epidemic, The Childhood Behavioral Health Crisis, as described in the book "Over Medicating Our Youth." In my 25 years of pharmacy practice, I believe the time has come for 'a call to action' and help society understand the long term dangers of prescribing stimulant amphetamines to young children. America's children and young adults consume 3x the ADHD stimulant and psychiatric medications than the world's children combined according to data collected by American Scientific. Adderall may be very effective in the short term by increasing cognitive function and decreasing hyperactivity. However, the long term effects are now evident, especially when children as young as the age of three begin therapy. The FDA has finally recognized there is a potential increased risk for anxiety, minor & major depression, psychosis and ultimately suicide. Adderall is also used as a "study drug" to help college students perform well in school. In a recent survey by the University of Michigan, only 1 in 100 parents believed their child was taking ADHD stimulants, yet a 2008 University of Kentucky study showed 34% of college students used ADHD stimulants as a study aid. Suicide is now the second leading cause of death in the United States among the college student population. The cure to the Adderall epidemic involves a comprehensive assessment of nutritional, physiological and environmental risk factors prior to premature drug therapy, especially in the child population. Before an understanding of "why" Adderall has become the most abused and diverted controlled substance for cognitive study on college campuses in the United States, we should realize the recent prescribing history of stimulant amphetamines in children. The misuse and over prescribing of ADHD stimulant amphetamine and psychiatric medications in the child foster care system was exposed by the largest drug audit in American history. This drug audit was authorized by the Senate Government Affairs Committee, and executed by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) representing the investigative authority of the United States congress between 2008 through 2010. The alarming results were revealed to the public in December 2011. Foster care children as young as one years-old were prescribed these powerful psychoactive medications. Approximately 100,000 foster care children charts were reviewed. Widespread abuse of care was recorded, involving extensively over prescribed use of amphetamines, antidepressants, anti-anxiety as well as antipsychotic medications in children as young as one. United States Senator Charles Schumer from New York recently stated that more strict requirements are mandated prior to college students gaining access to powerful stimulants. California State University, Fresno has already implemented a very strict program for college students seeking stimulant study drugs like Adderall. Since the new program began, there has been a dramatic decline in

students making doctors' appointments for stimulant therapy at their university health centers. The cure for the ADHD epidemic involves a new vision of assessing and treating children battling behavioral challenges as discussed in the book "Over Medicating Our Youth." This new vision of assessment is already in practice within many institutions across America. Additionally, the National Institute of Mental Health in Washington DC recently stated the assessment process of the last 40 years "lacks validity, and patients with mental disorders deserve better." The new vision assessment process involves ruling out nutritional, physiological and environmental risk factors prior to drug therapy, especially in young children. If a young child has ADHD symptoms, the first step to recovery is change the diet to whole foods, that is foods in their raw state, loaded with enzymatic nutritionals. These foods include cauliflower, broccoli, sweet onions, avocados, tomatoes, garlic, walnuts, lemons, almonds, apples, etc. These are called brain foods because they help the body naturally and gently detox the stomach and intestines while providing high antioxidant and enzyme nutrients to fuel the body and develop a healthy focused mind. The next step is the elimination of all processed foods which contain high amounts of dyes, artificial/natural flavorings, colorings and aspartame. Aspartame is contained in over 6,000 consumable products including soda, yogurt and juices. This harmful chemical sweetener is metabolized in the body at 90 degrees F and converted to formaldehyde and formic acid, two recognized neurotoxins which adversely affects behavioral development in children. The third step is to heal the Brain-Gut Connection. The stomach and small intestine are the primary sites in the body for the production of neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine all of which are essential for cognitive function, focus and normal behavioral development. This biological fact explains why a good “brain-gut connection" is one key to developing a healthy mind. Tourles (Storey; 2013; $18.95; www.storey.com) helps you reconnect with the powerful healing properties of plants and empowers you to make your own cost-effective herbal topical treatments. The basics of the herbal home apothecary are introduced as well as mainstay ingredients, getting a starter kit together, ethical wild-crafting, a glossary (do you know the difference between a liniment and a salve?) and basic equipment (funnel, mortar and pestle, coffee grinder and filters, double boiler, wooden spoons, glass bottles and 1/4 to 8 oz cream jars will do). In this book, you will find recipes for "Thieves Formula" an ancient preventive for cold, flu and even the bubonic plague from which this Dark Ages recipe originated! The formula contains cloves, garlic, thyme, cinnamon and other herbals that when sprayed on your hands, throat, neck, temples and ears, release anti-microbial properties through your skin (the best delivery system) and blood stream as well as respiratory passages heading off germs at the pass. Other highly effective remedies include: Anti-infection Compound Oil that fights staph with the addition of myrrh, tea tree and chamomile essential oils; a liniment that fights Athlete's Foot (usnea lichen, sage, lavender), arthritis liniment (ginger and cayenne pepper) to name a few of these invaluable formulas. The recipes are organized alphabetically by health condition for example - backaches, blemishes, body odor, boils, etc. The best part of this book is you can get many raw ingredients from your local supermarket, farmer's market and/or health food store! Many recipes have their roots in time-honored, centuries old remedies that really work. We highly recommend this book for any aspiring herbalist, those wanting to reconnect with the healing power of nature in a practical way or those interested in taking charge of their health naturally!

pharmaceutical medicine that comes even close to that safety record. Easy to see why ‘Big Pharma’ is not interested in letting the news out about ozone. You can learn more about intravenous medical ozone at www.ozoneuniversity.com. Recently Gary Null, PhD, made a powerful documentary called “Ozone Therapy: The Miracle Medicine” (available at www.garynull.com) discussing the use, safety and medical benefits of it. Some 40 patients also appear giving testimonials demonstrating ozone’s ability to completely get rid of many diseases and conditions including Lyme Disease. You can also call Dr. Howard Robins in his Manhattan office at 212-581-0101 with questions. He is considered my many to be the foremost clinical expert on intravenous medical ozone in North America with over 22 years experience and over 185,000 treatment performed. Please don’t wait any longer. You’ve suffered long enough, haven’t you? Isn’t it time to stop living in pain and misery and get your life back?

In many, but not all cases, antibiotics may eliminate the infection and its symptoms, especially if the illness is treated early. Unfortunately, even when caught early, antibiotics don’t always work. Many people are allergic to the drugs needed or develop sensitivity reactions and have to stop them. Delayed or inadequate treatment (often treating for too short a period of time) can lead to the more serious symptoms, which can be disabling and even harder to treat, that If you have questions, you may contact Dr. Howard Robins at 212is, unless medical ozone is used. 581-0101. Dr. Robins is considered by many to be the foremost clinical Over the past 22 years, intravenous medical ozone has been safely and effectively used to destroy and eliminate Lyme disease, expert on the use of Ozone in North America with over 21 years of clinieven in late stage infections. Often when all hope is gone, even after cal practice and 180,000 treatments performed. years of suffering medical ozone has proven successful. What happens is, when medical grade oxygen and ozone gas is safely and painlessly injected by trained professionals into a vein (you can’t get an embolus from oxygen, only from nitrogen gas), the extra ”O” in the ozone molecule acts like a glue stealing an electron from anything in our body that it can latch onto. Healthy cells in our body contain natural anti-oxidants that protect them against damage or destruction. Only pathogens are destroyed. So why haven’t you heard about ozone therapy? Follow the money trail! It may be hard to believe, but the pharmaceutical industry along with help from the FDA has suppressed information about it’s benefits and it’s use here in the USA, because of the money that would be lost if the use of antibiotics, antivirals and antifungal medicines were diminished due to it’s amazing benefits. Ozone is simply a non-patentable medicine. Since it is a highly reactive gas, it has to be made “fresh” at the time of its use in a machine that passes electric current through medical grade oxygen in a special hand-blown glass tube. It can’t be stored in a powder, tablet, capsule or liquid form like other medicines. Usually in just a few weeks, symptoms begin to diminish offering hope and finally giving relief. Intravenous medical ozone when it enters the body attacks and kills all Lyme disease causing bacteria. It does it safely, virtually with no adverse reactions. In addition, it destroys all unwanted viruses, fungus, yeast, mold, harmful free radicals and toxins, thus cleansing your body and boosting your own natural immune system. Long Island And did I say it does it safely and Therapy with virtually no adverse reactions? The most famous study done on its safety was Available published in Germany in 1982. In Germany, medical ozone therapy is used pre and post-operatively to prevent infections. Jacobs, et al., reported in his published study that close to 400,000 patients were given over 5,500,000 treatments over a two-year period with an adverse reaction rate of .0007! There is no
