Strong crisis pressure, weakness squeezes out optimism The economic situation is worse than the previous year. The trend does not seem to be easing which is even more worrying. and the basic economic indices remain unchanged, this will be an achievement nevertheless, according to present anticipations, especially if we know Croatian EU accession will bring many unforeseeable problems. The forthcoming year will be very difficult. Preserving its long-year tradition, Privredni vjesnik drafted another Economic Outlook 2013 in cooperation with entrepreneurs. In this year’s survey, 408 companies participated, which covers only 0.4% of the total number of
companies that submitted their balance sheets for 2011. These companies account for around 6.2% of total revenue; achieve some 5% of total profits and employ around 6.5% of all workers in Croatia. In this year’s survey 8.6% large-sized companies participated, as well as 26.4% medium-sized and around 65% of mainly small-sized companies. Financial indices were used for processing each company that participated in the survey to assess the answers to specific questions, ensuring the answers
adequate value and level of difficulty proportional to the financial strength of an individual company. We grouped the companies in several categories of activities to obtain a stratified picture of entrepreneurial attitudes. Companies were grouped and processed according to size and branch of activity, with special emphasis on companies from the well-known group of top 400.
