2023 Canada Summer Jobs Program

As I have more time to be in our community over the summer, I am now visiting businesses and organizations that received funding from the 2023 Canada Summer Jobs program (CSJ). On my CSJ tour, I visited Lake St. George to see a summer camp hosted by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. I have also visited CHATS and Play Forever in Crescent Village in Richmond Hill. The CSJ program is providing 70,000 jobs this summer across Canada, with our riding of Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill receiving over a million dollars in funding to support 263 jobs for local youth. Helping with affordability and climate change, our government has introduced the Climate Action Incentive payment. As of July 14th, every resident who filed a tax return would have received this payment either by direct deposit or cheque. A family of four in Ontario will receive $976 over the course of the year in quarterly payments.
I look forward to continuing to see you at the many summer events in our community. I am often at the Aurora Farmers’ Market or the town concerts. On August 1st, I will be at the Aurora Town Hall to commemorate Emancipation Day. I am also visiting neighbourhoods to see how things are going and introducing myself. This year's Dancing with Easter Seals Stars participants were invited to visit the Easter Seals Camp on July 18th. They saw for themselves how the money raised from this annual event helps send children with disabilites to specialized camps, which are 100% funded by public donations. Cortney Cassidy, Chris Cartwright and Lynnette Lanning had an amaing day with the Easter Seals campers and are looking forward to dancing in the Fall!
