NEIGHBOURHOOD Charity Highlight
The ABLE Network (Access to Better Living and Employment) is a community-based program in York Region that provides relevant and inclusive work and recreation opportunities for adults with Intellectual Disabilities (ID). Participants are supported in our five core programs: work, travel and safety training, recreation, continuing education, and community service activities. Each participant has an individualized schedule. The ABLE Network is based on strong principles and research that states that inclusion of persons with an intellectual disability in natural settings provides them with an equal opportunity to contribute to the health and well-being of their community.
ABLE is made up of many community partners which forms the network of our thriving community-based program. The ABLE Network is a fee for service, registered charity headquartered in Aurora, Ontario. The program is funded 50% by fees from participants and the other 50% is generated by grants, private donations, and organized fundraising events.
