FOOD Neighbourhood Media spoke with Dallia Catzel, the owner of Chargrill Charlie’s St Ives, about food, family, and feeling good about life.

HOW long have you been in St Ives? What do you like about St Ives? I’ve been working at the St Ives store since we opened its doors 8 years ago in 2012. For me St Ives is home. I love the local village, the warm community and our regular customers that live in the neighbourhood and have been visiting our store for years and years. It’s a special feeling to watch the customers you first served as kids with their parents, grow up and become adults of their own. We have a St Ives family and we get to share life’s most important milestones with our customers. Who are your most frequent customers? Chargrill Charlie’s caters for absolutely everyone - local families that are feeding toddlers through to grandparents, that can sit around the dinner table together and be united by good quality, home-cooked style food; the local school kids and sport teams that love to come in all together for their Thursday afternoon soft serve; to the local workers and tradies that love a regular lunch time fix and everyone in between.
Not so strange - but super fun when the whole local St Ives Rugby Club came to visit us, all of the staff got a bit excited!! How is Chargrill Charlie’s different from other fast food outlets? Chargrill Charlie’s offers good quality, delicious, fresh homestyle cooked meals perfect for all ages. Beyond the traditional burger and chips, Chargrill Charlie’s offers a vast array of delicious healthy salads that are prepared daily, a rotating hot bar that includes dishes such as roasted veggies, beef brisket, salmon, pad thai and curries, amongst many others, along with their classic BBQ and Portuguese Chicken cooked to serve. Chargrill Charlie’s at its core is a family run, community driven business. We have a genuine love for our customers and look forward to the regular chats when they visit us in the store to pick up our food. For us, Chargrill Charlie’s is an extension of our local community’s dinner table.
