While medication is frequently the go-to solution for pain, chiropractic care takes a different approach that is safe and natural. Rather than masking symptoms with pharmaceuticals, chiropractic care aims to address the root cause. By restoring proper spinal alignment, improving joint mobility, and supporting the body’s natural healing abilities, we often reduce or eliminate the need for medication.
Alongside traditional chiropractic techniques, I’ve seen exceptional results using shockwave therapy, an evidencebased, non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic sound waves to stimulate tissue repair. It’s especially effective for conditions that have not responded well to other forms of treatment like plantar fasciitis, tendonitis (rotator cuff, Achilles, patellar), tennis/golfer’s elbow, calcific tendinopathy, muscle trigger points, and persistent joint or soft tissue pain.
Shockwave therapy works by increasing blood flow, stimulating collagen production, and breaking down calcified tissue - key steps in tissue repair. Many patients report noticeable pain relief and improved function in just a few sessions.
By combining precise spinal adjustments with focused therapies like shockwave, I’m able to address both the root cause and affected area. This integrated approach often leads to faster, more complete recovery. If you’re dealing with chronic pain or limited mobility, chiropractic care and shockwave therapy may be the solution you’ve been looking for.

If you needed another reason to get a shingles vaccine, look no further: The two-dose series of shots may also help prevent or delay dementia. A new study published in April in the journal JAMA examined the health records of about 280,000 older adults in Australia, comparing a group of individuals who received a free shingles vaccine with another group that was slightly too old to qualify for the free vaccine program.
Researchers found that over a period of 7.4 years, the vaccinated group was about 20 percent less likely to be diagnosed with dementia than the unvaccinated group, showing correlation but not causation. According to the New York Times, it's the most compelling evidence to date that the shingles vaccine may reduce dementia risk. While researchers have noted the link between the shingles vaccine and dementia in previous studies, they also had to account for healthier lifestyles and other characteristics that are known to lower dementia risk.
Researchers theorize that the shingles vaccine prevents the neuroinflammation that occurs when the varicella-zoster virus, which causes both chicken pox and shingles, reactivates after decades of dormancy. The vaccine may also deliver a protective effect when it activates the immune system. But even without the anti-dementia benefits, the shingles vaccine is a good choice for most older adults. Shingles rashes can be excruciatingly painful, and if left untreated, can cause complications like postherpetic neuralgia, or intense nerve pain, or permanent eye damage.
The night the Declaration was signed in 1776, a printer named John Dunlap was asked to make 200 copies of the Declaration to be distributed throughout the 13 British colonies in America. This document would not be welcome news to the British, so Dunlap hastily prepared and printed the broadside for distribution.
During the next 200 years, nearly all copies were lost. Some of the original colonial families held onto their copies and passed them down to their heirs. Only 26 copies of the Dunlap broadsides are known to survive today.
The most famous recent find of the broadside occurred in 1989 when a collector, browsing a Pennsylvania flea market, came upon a painting of a country scene in an ornate frame. Thinking the frame might be worth something, the man tore away the painting, only to find that the frame was worthless. But, behind the painting he saw a paper folded into the size of a business envelope, according to the New York Times.
Selby Kiffer, a printing specialist at Sotheby's, told the New York Times in 1991 that it turned out this was a first-printing copy of the Declaration. It was, astoundingly, in superior condition. It appears the broadside was still wet when it was folded. The first line of the Declaration shows up in reverse at the bottom margin -- evidence that Dunlap wasted no time distributing the copies. The collector who spent $4 on the painting (Donald J. Scheer) in 1989 sold the document for more than $2.4 million. Norman Lear later bought the document for $8.14 million in 2000.
Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) in clothing measures how much ultraviolet radiation reaches your skin through your clothes. It can be especially important for outdoor workers. The higher the UPF number, the better the protection. A shirt with a UPF rating of 50 allows 1/50th of the sun’s rays to penetrate the fabric, according to Piedmont Healthcare. That means the material will block 98 percent of UV rays. As a contrast, a simple white T-shirt has a UPF rating of about 5.
High UPF rated clothing can absorb sun rays, prevent sunburns and skin damage. Good UPF protection ranges from 15 to 24. Excellent UV protection is rated from 40 to 50+.
Just as Sun Protection Factor (SPF) in sun lotion tells you how much skin protection you have, UPF in clothing tells how well the clothing protects the skin from UV rays. UV rays are a natural energy produced by the sun, but they are also found in tanning beds and certain lamps. They are forms of electromagnetic radiation that are invisible.
Protective clothing is designed to protect from two types of UV rays: UVA: They penetrate deeper into the skin and contribute to tanning and premature aging. They may contribute to skin cancer development. And UVB: Primarily responsible for sunburn and skin cancer, they can also damage the eyes.
Historians and businesspeople generally look back on certain business decisions as some of the all-time greats ... or all-time blunders. Two of the best:
Ford and the $5 day. In 1914, in an effort to increase productivity and reduce employee turnover, Henry Ford decided to start paying his workers $5 per day (double what some of them previously made) and implement a five day, 40hour work week (instead of the previous six-day work weeks), a move that Forbes argues was the smartest business decision of all time. Ford suddenly had no trouble attracting and retaining talent, and Ford's workers could afford (and actually drove) the cars they built themselves.
George Lucas and Star Wars. After Fox offered George Lucas $500,000 to make the first Star Wars film in 1976, he countered with an offer of his own -- just $150,000 in salary, but Lucas would retain the rights to merchandising and any sequels. According to International Accounting Bulletin, that $350,000 pay cut turned into Lucas's current $5.4 billion fortune.
And the crown for worst business decision of all time: The Louisiana Purchase. It was a phenomenal deal for the fledgling United States of America, but a world-historic miscalculation for France. According to the National Archives, in 1803 the U.S. paid just $15 million -- or about 4 cents per acre -- and gained about 828,000 square miles of resource-rich territory that included most of the Great Plains, the Midwest, and chunks of the West. The land would go on to become parts (or all) of fifteen states.

Pricing your home right is key to selling. You can use online tools for initial estimates, but agents or appraisers offer far more accurate, market-savvy valuations. One of the most common tools used to determine the value of a house is an automated valuation tool, otherwise known as an AVM. These online algorithms estimate the value of your home by considering many different criteria and publicly available data, including lot size, number of bedrooms and baths, and information about recent nearby sales.
It's worth noting that while AVMs are useful tools, they are far from perfect. Algorithms don't know the details of your home, including condition and upgrades. Consulting an AVM is a good start, but it should not be the only factor in your decision. To get specific insight into your area's market and a complete assessment of your home's value, you’ll want to speak to an agent.
Agents are experts in your local market and can create a comparative market analysis to determine how to price your home. Agents also take into account details like how long area homes have been sitting on the market, price fluctuations, and other factors. While setting the perfect price is important, it's important to be flexible and sometimes willing to adjust if necessary.
If you are curious about what your home can sell for in the current housing market, please call Sheryl at 561-389-8670 for a no-obligation, personal consultation.
In July we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marvel at its soaring language, and honor our freedom. But in 1776, the Declaration was treason and its signers were targets. Here is a summary of the fate of the 56 signers: Arrested/Imprisoned: 5. Property Destroyed or Confiscated: 17. Died During the War: 9 (from wounds, disease, or hardships.) Sons Killed/Captured: 3. Financial Ruin: 17 faced significant financial ruin.
Of note was the fate of "Honest John" Hart. Born in 1711, Hart was a farmer and public servant from Hopewell, New Jersey. By 1776, he was elected to the Continental Congress where he voted for independence and signed the Declaration. In late 1776, British forces invaded New Jersey. Hart’s home became a target due to his status as a signer. Fearing capture, Hart, 65, was forced to flee, leaving behind his wife, Deborah, who was seriously ill, and their 13 children. Hart hid in the nearby mountains, living in a cave and the forest.
British and Hessian troops ransacked Hart’s 600-acre farm. His home was looted, his mills were destroyed, and his livestock was killed. The devastation of his property left Hart, once a prosperous landowner, financially ruined.
By October 1776, Hart's wife had died and his children were forced to scatter. In early 1777, after George Washington’s victories at Trenton and Princeton pushed British forces out of New Jersey, Hart was able to return home. He was never able to recover physically, emotionally, or financially from his ordeal, and he died in May 1779.

The average lifespan in the U.S. has now increased to 79 years. The population of persons aged 90 and older has almost tripled since 1980 and is expected to surpass 7.6 million over the next 40 years.
As we age, we often face increased vulnerability to physical and mental health challenges making independent living more difficult. Living alone can be isolating, which can impact a person’s well-being. Many seniors are choosing to age in a place that promotes well-being and social engagement. Sherry Ross, Community Liaison for Right at Home Care, said “it is essential that nonagenarians have a strong support system in place, such as family, friends, or caregivers, who can visit and provide emotional support.”
Some are favoring independent senior living communities or private group homes that offer inclusive easy living with meals, housekeeping, and social engagements. For people in their 90’s, the desire to remain independent remains strong. Cindy Ekonomou, Director of Sales for Windward Palms said, “I’ve seen a notable increase in the number of residents over 90 in our independent senior living community and many of them are choosing to age in place here.”
Whether it’s in their own home, an independent senior living community, a family members’ residence or a private group home, the demand for at home care is growing rapidly. In the end, it’s not just about where we grow old, but how. These nonagenarians are showing us that with the right support, aging in place isn’t just possible - it’s powerful.
For centuries, adventurers have searched for Noah's Ark, and for decades, researchers have looked at spots on Mount Ararat in Turkey. Now some think they found the historical ship just 18 miles away from the mountain.
In recent years, the latest research around the site uses soil analysis and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Researchers for the group Noah's Ark Scans think there is a man-made structure buried in the place with dimensions very close to how the Ark was described in Genesis, according to the Jerusalem Post.
The GPR scans show what appear to be a hallway, decks, and rooms beneath the surface. Soil samples suggest the area contains rotting wood. Core drilling in the area and more GPR scans are planned. Mount Ararat is a snowy, dormant volcano in eastern Turkey that has been called Ararat since the 11th century in the Middle Ages. But well before that, the first century Jewish historian Flavius Josephus claimed pieces of the Ark were found on Mount Ararat.
The story of Noah and his Ark, still a favorite among children, is part of all three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam), but also in the earliest stories of Mesopotamia and Sumerian dynasties. Epic stories all recount passages about a great flood and a long-lived hero who survived by building a great ship.
Kitten season runs from March to October, but much like the hurricane season in South Florida – it can happen at any time! Come across a litter of young kittens? Scooping them up and taking them into a local shelter is not the best option for the kittens as, in most cases, the mother cat was nearby. Their best chance of survival is with their mom.
Free-roaming female cats often leave their kittens alone for a few hours each day hunting or searching for a new place to move her kittens. Sometimes the mother has simply been scared away and is nearby waiting for a safe return. For this reason, it is best to leave kittens where they are and monitor from a distance. If the kittens are in an unsafe location, it’s okay to move them to a safer area nearby where the mom can easily find them.
A few ways to know if mom has been caring for them: They have full bellies - they have eaten recently if their bellies are firm and round. The nest is clean - mother cats don’t allow their nests to be overly soiled. The kittens are warm and content, possibly sleeping and they respond when disturbed. But if the kittens are cold or don’t respond to touch, they need help.
If the mother returns, great job keeping them safe! Continue to help them by keeping tabs on mom and kittens until they are 8 weeks old and can be trapped, spayed or neutered, and returned to the area they came from. But if the mother cat hasn’t returned for 24 hours, the kittens are likely orphans. In this case, becoming their foster parent is the next best thing. Fostering kittens frees space in the shelter as well as increasing the kittens’ chances of survival by providing the one-on-one care they need.
PBCACC is here for fosters that need assistance with supplies or have questions. Fosters can contact PBCACC Foster Program at 561-233-1281 or email: accfoster@pbc.gov.
Submitted by Marc Solomon / NN Contributing Writer Mick Jagger has a birthday in July. But there is another reason to celebrate The Rolling Stones this month. Their signature song, ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,’ peaked at number one in the U.S. on July 10, 1965 and remained there for four long weeks. Most concert-goers will stay until the very end of a Stones show just to hear that tune.
Satisfaction opens with the iconic riff from Keith Richards. Considered to be one of the greatest hooks, Richards originally played the catchy riff into a cassette recorder, only to be followed by 45 minutes of snoring. A Jagger-Richards collaboration, Satisfaction takes jabs with commercialism and modern culture. A radio broadcast is referred to as “useless information.” And a woman walks away from Jagger, claiming that she is “on a losing streak.” The song fades with Jagger’s repetition of the song title.
The Rolling Stones performed Satisfaction on The Ed Sullivan show in 1966. Forty years later, they performed it at the 2006 Super Bowl halftime show. Newsweek magazine referred to Richards’ opening riff as the “five notes that shook the world.”
Jagger told the press many years ago, “I’d rather be dead than still singing Satisfaction when I’m 45.” Your fans, Mick, are only too glad this never came to fruition!

As the end of summer draws near, I feel the stress of starting college more and more intensely. I’ve already started my summer UCF classes, Astronomy and Humanities, and feel the approaching date of my move into my dorm. All summer I’ve been planning and getting things prepared for my dorm.
I decided to have my dorm as a gold and blue theme and have been making many DIY dorm decors. It’s an odd feeling to be moving into a dorm, a new place I’ll be calling home for the next nine months.
Additionally, I’ve been making sure to spend much of my time with my friends and working to save up spending money for college, as I know I will soon be focused on my classes.
I’m glad that I still have another month to spend here in my hometown, but despite my anxieties, I am beyond excited for this new chapter to begin in my life. I can’t wait to finally be a Knight and move into the new place I’ll soon be calling ‘home.’ Change can sometimes be something difficult, but it isn’t always something negative.

Just after midnight on April 17, 1977, Lake Worth residents along South Palmway were jolted awake by a series of low, rhythmic vibrations—like thunder caught in a loop. Moments later, the sky above shimmered with a soft green hue, and then, as many claim, something descended from the clouds.
Witnesses described a silent craft, triangular in shape, gliding just above the surface of the Intracoastal. “It didn’t make a sound,” said Tom Ellison, a retired Navy radio technician. “Not like a plane. More like it was just listening.” Dogs barked. Streetlights flickered. Several accounts tell of clocks stopping at precisely 12:09 a.m. And by dawn, federal agents were seen canvassing the area. Locals reported being told to keep quiet, and police records from that night have suspicious gaps. But what was the official statement? ‘Unusual atmospheric activity.’ But for those who stood outside on the docks that night, watching the sky ripple with the unnatural glow, the truth is still out there—and it began that night in Lake Worth.
Now, nearly five decades later, a new wave of sightings and strange occurrences in that area has stirred up old questions. Was it just a weather anomaly, or did Lake Worth become a brief waypoint for something not of this Earth? The files may be sealed, but the echoes remain—in the waves, in the wind, and in the stories passed down from those who still remember the night the stars came closer.

We're unlikely to ever experience a Planet of the Apesstyle ape takeover, but if we do, bonobos will probably be the ones to watch out for. That's because bonobos, a close cousin to the chimpanzee, may possess something called "theory of mind," or the cognitive ability to understand that others may not know something and react accordingly.
According to Smithsonian Magazine, theory of mind is a key component in many complex human behaviors, and whether it exists in our close relatives has long been a topic of debate among scientists. And finally, two cognitive scientists and three male bonobos decided to put their heads together and try to find an answer.
The scientists designed a cooperative experiment that required the apes to identify where a treat (in this case a grape) was hidden, point to its location, and wait for the researcher to hand it over. Researchers would hide the grape in front of one of the bonobos, bring in another bonobo, and ask the newly arrived ape where the grape was hidden. Not only did the bonobos consistently understand that their partners had no way of knowing where the grape was hidden, they communicated the correct location to ensure that the other ape could still locate (and enjoy) the hidden grape.
The task might sound pretty simple but the logic behind it -- the ability to hold two conflicting views in mind -- is the type of advanced thinking that has only been associated with humans and our capacity for complex language, until now.
