Technical and Research Proficiency:
Develop a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply financial accounting, auditing, internal controls, managerial accounting, tax, and legal standards. Conduct advanced research to address complex accounting and business problems, exhibiting professional judgment, compliance and application of ethical decision making.
Technological and Analytical Skills:
Leverage technological tools and data analytics to enhance decision-making and problem-solving in accounting and business contexts Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, critical thinking and the integration of technology in financial reporting and controls.
Communication and Teamwork:

Our MAC curriculum is closely aligned with industry trends and prepares students with the knowledge, skills and experiential opportunities they need to tackle accounting challenges today and in the future.
AI in Accounting: Leading the Way
Students master essential AI skills from prompt engineering and information verification to professional skepticism This cutting-edge content is integrated into courses like ACC 533 Accounting and Tax Research, ACC 550 Advanced Auditing, ACC 540 IT Risk and Controls.
National Accounting Leaders Share Real-World Insights
In a recent Q&A with Jenkins MAC students, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Member George R Botic addressed topics about the future of the profession ranging from innovation in auditing practices to the impact of new technology (middle photo to the right)
“We need to develop flexible standards that will stand the test of time. There may be times when technology changes so much that we must take action. But the goal is to develop standards with enough elasticity they can ebb and flow with advances in technology.”

Tour of Cities 2024
2024 brought back the in-person Tour of Cities with a two-day experience in Charlotte. Students visited the offices of Elliott Davis, EY, KPMG, PwC and RSM US, and had the opportunity to network with additional firms, MAC alumni, and Charlotte-based students at organized events
We continue the career focus with initiatives like our annual Meet the Firms & Business Expo This fall, MAC students met recruiters from 32 companies in public accounting and industry, setting them on the right path toward a fulfilling career in the profession
Practicum Projects
Students address real business challenges serving as consultants for organizational clients In addition to learning project management skills and the intricacies of the business world, students also learn how to collaborate on teams and communicate with company executives

After three decades of distinguished service, Kathy Krawczyk retires in June 2025. Her extraordinary impact is immeasurable.
